Looks like the Dragon Ball Super anime is back (and finally adapting the Moro arc from the DBS manga)! And this is coming from someone who grew up with Dragon Ball Super.

Also, I'm glad the rights dispute between Akio Iyoku's Capsule Corporation Tokyo and Shueisha has been resolved.

Better animation and even flashier fights, of course! But the question is, can you sit through yet another batch of retellings? Can you endure Universe Survival saga for another entire year!?

Lol nah. Don’t get me wrong, Super looked like trash (and I’ve never been a fan of how modern day dragon ball looks) but it wasn’t just the visuals that was the problem, it was the pacing. That killed this anime for me.

Super looked like trash but it wasn’t just the visuals that was the problem, it was the pacing. That killed this anime for me.

THANK YOU. People focus way too much on Super's animation and ignore the equally bad pacing, both of which are thankfully being addressed here. There are aspects of Super that I don't like that won't be changed here, but the art, animation, and pacing will go a long way in improving Super for me. Super in its current form is between a 4 and 5 for me, but this remake will push it to a 7 if done right.

Moro is Toyotaro's baby anyway. You can't have Moro without at least some Toyotaro influence.

Cutting down each arc in half will indeed go a long way in improving the flow of things. 12 episodes for the retellings, 7 for Champa, 10-11 for Black, 20-24 for the tournament of power, and finally 5 for Broly. That brings the total up to around 52, which lines up perfectly with a year of content leading up to Moro.

I got far more than I wanted. I would've been happy with the remake alone, and even that I wasn't sure would happen. I also got Moro, which I consider to be the best modern story alongside Battle of Gods and Daima. I ate good today.

I never had the faith to begin with. The trailer looks terrible, and the fact that Yamamuro, after working on Daima under Nakatsuru, still decides to stick with his bad traits tells me all I need to know about the mini series. It doesn't surprise me that Yamamuro likes to make his work suck, given that he worked under the legendary Shigeyasu Yamauchi on several occasions, but learned nothing from him.

Anime Moro- In the past I have expressed interest in seeing an animated adaptation of the Moro arc, so I can't say I'm not intrigued by this announcement. I'm still interested in seeing how it'll be different from the manga.

Battle of Gods BEERUS- So the rumors were true, we're getting our third version of Battle of Gods. Honestly, I don't mind this. As others have said, the Super version of this story looks awful so a version of it that doesn't look (as) awful is a plus. Previous posts have mentioned this being a fix for pacing issues- I've also said in the past that pacing is one of Dragon Ball Super's biggest issues (along with characterization) so I'm all for a better paced version of this version of this story.

The prospect of this being done for the rest of Super also has me intrigued.

I was a bit confused, because I did initially think they were going full on Remake following the announcement of the Moro Arc. Like, hey this is Super but the Manga version. And I"ve been up front in saying that it makes plenty of improvements that makes Super decent. Of course the Manga did give us the Granolah arc and uuuuuuuuuugh. Fuck that so hard.

There are enough substantial changes being made to where I don't think it's unrealistic to expect Black's first transformation to have Golden hair.
