I guess ANYTHING to ensure they never go past EoZ.

Now it's a remake of the 2013 movie Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods & DBS's Beerus arc from 2015

Perhaps they want to incorporate SS4 into the story this time around :D

Edit: Iyoku stated that this will be a more faithful version to Toriyama's original draft as there were too many changes done by Toei that Toriyama did not like.

"This ENHANCED edition reconstructs the story"

Akira Toriyama was involved in this.

Another Edit:
Dragon Ball Official Site explains what 'Dragon Ball Super - Beerus' actually is:

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, a project that was started a few years ago, is the newly ENHANCED edition of the anime Dragon Ball Super. ENHANCED by the latest visual expression, every scene, especially the battle scenes, is even more immersive, providing a more faithful and detailed reproduction of the original work by Akira Toriyama, and it will deliver a quality that is sure to fully satisfy audiences.

Dragon Ball Super will begin anew as Dragon Ball Super: Beerus.

Like I've said countless times over the past few weeks, I don't mind a remake, or remaster of Super's earlier arcs. It desperately needs it, especially to introduce new fans to Super leading into the new arcs. Also, all of you saying it definitely wasn't happening ended up being wrong, even if it is a remaster and not a remake. Just goes to show you need to have an open mind and wait for things to be announced, after all.

And it also means I don't have to sit through a terribly animated version of Super. I'll just wait for the remastered versions. All-in-all, Dragon Ball Super is BACK.

Toei finally remembered that they own the rights to a billion-dollar IP, I guess

That could be a good idea. To return and do justice to the initial arcs.

By the way, I find it funny that this is called "Beerus," after so many people called the original story the "Beerus Arc."

Love the new logo color.

A remaster instead of a full remake is the perfect spot for me.
DBS is my favourite DB anime after DBZ and I wanted a better version of it, but I also want the new manga stories animated. This is a good compromise.

Let this be Yamamuro swan song.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro
Favourite new DB Animators: Yuya Takahashi and Chikashi Kubota

Dragon Ball Super is finally being treated with the respect a sequel to Dragon Ball deserves. This show was in desperate need of a remake, as the quality of Daima and upcoming Moro arc are leaps and bounds better than the dumpster fire that was the original Super anime.

Same here; the blue goes a long way in enhancing it.

Yes. It seems that Toei understood the weight and importance of this franchise.

10 years late better than never. This is what Super should've looked like from day one.

I agree! It looks beautiful! And it goes very well with the space and multiverse themes of Super.

It looks like they are branding each arc as its own sub-franchise within Super. I'd love to see remakes of all of them, especially if they clean things up and use elements from Toriyama's original drafts. There's room for opportunity in every arc.

Hopefully if this does well they do it with the original series and Z too.

Here's an interesting detail: Vegeta's Ssj2 sparks are purple, instead of Blue like Goku's. Foreshadowing for Ultra Ego ?

Well, with luck there will be some cool fight scenes added and Yamamuro won't fuck with the key animation that gets turned in. Of course, it's also entirely possible that he will.

Any time Iyoku Akio speaks I just feel like he's the most insufferable guy in the room, so I'm not really looking forward to how he pushes this new edit to "be more like Toriyama's draft."

Wait is this supposed to serve as a lead-in to a whole series remake that adapts more of the manga or is it just a standalone apology tour for those abysmal 2015 retellings

Iyoku saying that this is closer to Toriyama's vision sounds good... but I thought that's what the original movie was

Why are we getting a retelling of a retelling

Seems silly to do BoG and RoF a 3rd time, but I get the reasoning (something cheaper to buy time and build hype for Moro) and the trailer was pretty good, but I've already seen this and know what happens, so the excitement just isn't there for me.

I'll probably still check it out.

Yeah, this is absolutely something to refresh how the general audience thinks of Dragon Ball Super in time for the Moro arc to be ready to begin airing. If there are no breaks between the remastered and re-edited arcs, they'll probably just air the Moro arc directly after the Tournament of Power arc gets re-edited.

I'm not looking forward to whatever they do with Ishitani's episode, though.

No, I think they want to show that Vegeta's Rage Boosted SS2 was not a ordinary SS2 transformation, but something unique considering Vegeta was stronger than SS3 Goku in this state. If Daima is still supposed to be in the main continuity then very least they need to make sense of him not using SS3.

They said they've been working on this project for years, so I highly doubt it's just the movies' stories, which will only be 6 episodes each. The official word is that all this is a new era of Super, so the chances of them continuing past RF are very high. If they cut down all the arcs in half, that would perfectly lead into the Moro arc.

It's not, at least not as of now. Goku is still using Ssj3, Vegeta is using Ssj2, and the Kais are still fused. You can still watch Daima between Battle of Gods and Resurrection F, as things seem to more or less line up that way, at least if you believe Goku can't use Ssj4 outside the demon realm.

Considering how it seems Toriyama was involved in this, and he decided to add SS3 Vegeta and SS4 in Daima as well as defusing Shin, it would be great if this new Super followed it, tying everything up nicely.

From the footage, it seems they're literally just taking the anime version and applying some filters over it. I saw a few redraws and some new shots but this is gonna look super jarring.

They're also removing the filler, at least as we can guess looking at an arc that originally lasted 10+ episodes now being 6.

That was always the main perk of a remake - cutting down all the useless filler.

Bye bye PILAF. :)
At his core Zamasu is good like Shin, though I guess you could say he was so fastidious that it backfired. But you know, for this "Future Trunks Arc" you had to depict Zamasu and Trunks' inner conflict, right? If this was back when I was drawing the manga myself then I doubt if I could have done it. I mean, I'm not very good at depicting the characters' psychology on the page. So this all came together because now I only have to think up the story. [...] On my own, I doubt I would have been able to express Zamasu's fall to the dark side.
