I've always wondered what the Faulconer score would sound like with more polished composition and creative direction, so I thought, why not see what the alternate univers would look like if the compositions Kikuchi came up with were instead what Scott Morgan, Mike Smith and Julius Dobos went on to make? This is a Mashup of Piccolo-s English and JP themes, specifically Super Namekian and M810
And no AI was used for this

Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

I'm one of those fans who usually can't stand Faulconer's score, aside from maybe one or two tracks (and even those don't really feel like Dragon Ball to me). But I gotta say, this is pretty good! It's amazing what a difference the arrangement and style make. It actually sounds like it belongs in the show.
For a moment I even thought you were weaving in Kikuchi's Piccolo theme around the 19-second mark. Probably 'cause the first two notes are the same.
Anyway, great job

That part actually wasn't even intentional haha; with the Kikuchi score, damn near everything is in F-minor so when I lowered the faulconer song to that pitch it just wound up aligning perfectly lmao. There's other instances where the score scross over in similar ways too - "Gohan Power Up" theme is pretty similar to Umnei No Hei and Vegeta's main theme is similar to his one from Movie 7, and is also in the same key as his first theme from the Saiyan saga (the oone that's just guitar stabs)Caulifor wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 8:43 am I'm one of those fans who usually can't stand Faulconer's score, aside from maybe one or two tracks (and even those don't really feel like Dragon Ball to me). Re: The Faulconer score but in a Kikuchi way, remade by me
This was actually on point, although I understand why the beginning portion is all that could really make it in (for now).
Meanwhile, as even one of the Faulconer Productions team members noted, a considerable amount of that score itself was in G minor, just that it was nowhere near the JP score in sticking to a speciic key.
I also noticed that similarity between the first version of Vegeta's Movie 7 theme and the main Faulconer Productions counterpart, aside from both using bells, if you transposed the latter from G to F, a lot of the notes tend to match somehow.
(And speaking of the prominence of bell sounds in both scores, it's an often overlooked area, especially when you consider how many types there are in the JP score, from regular ones to those found in Buddhist temples. Movie 12 in particular makes extensive use of them, and it works with the main setting being a warped afterlife, particularly hell.)
Till date he's about the only one I've heard who chooses one key (or a related major) and sticks to it for just about every sheet he writes in a project (Movie 3 was a switch-up to C minor though). It's why there was never a full re-arrangement of the first OP's verse and chorus.jjgp1112 wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 11:00 am That part actually wasn't even intentional haha; with the Kikuchi score, damn near everything is in F-minor so when I lowered the faulconer song to that pitch it just wound up aligning perfectly lmao. It's so rare I post, but I commend you on this and hope you continue experimenting. These are fascinating and I love how you don't just swap the instruments, but play with the arrangements.
This is a really unique project and I am looking forward to seeing more.

I'm just curious, but which DAW software (Adobe Audition, Logic Pro, GarageBand, FL Studio, or something else) did you use to make these Kikuchi-style versions of the Faulconer BGM tracks?
Anyway, these sound well composed. I'm looking forward to seeing more of these Kikuchi-style versions of the Faulconer BGM.

Thanks! I use FL Studio. There are a few free orchestra sample libraries and a plugin that let's you play and arrange the samples.TechExpert2021 wrote: Wed Feb 04, 2026 11:56 pm I'm just curious, but which DAW software (Adobe Audition, Logic Pro, GarageBand, FL Studio, or something else) did you use to make these Kikuchi-style versions of the Faulconer BGM tracks?

Damn, these are SUPER cool jjgp1112! Even if I can tell the instruments are sampled, you definitely captured the vibe of Kikuchi.

Re: The Faulconer score but in a Kikuchi way, remade by me
Thank you! Yeah, that's why I wound up upgrading to using Kontakt and a few more comprehensive sound libraries because there's only so much you can do to try to humanize the samples with just the basic stuff. But there's all types of rhythm swings and subtle imperfections that I really take for granted when I make my stuff and then go back and listen to the Kikuch tracks I'm referencing haha. My beat making background helps with that but even that is very programmed.Metalwario64 wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 8:16 pm Damn, these are SUPER cool jjgp1112!
