Dragon Box Kai [Seed of Might DBox CC Sync to Kai]
Hello, I'm one of the people working on syncing the Seed of Might Dragon Box CC to Dragon Ball Kai's audio. You might've heard Atomic mention this project in a separate "Z Kai" thread, along with Hydrus, a Z Recut member, sharing a little bit more in another thread. But I'm gonna quickly go over a couple things in some detail, at least for now.
Right now we're focusing on Kai 1.0 and Kai The Final Chapters. We're still thinking about Boo Kai, but when any are finished, we'll release them separately in case we do follow through with it. We'll also make all our project files open source, much like Team Kienzan's approach with their Z Recut. Just be sure that any replaced footage is synced with the R2J Dragon Boxes.
The video is pretty straight forward for 1.0, since it's already in 4:3. It's TFC however that makes things a little tough. We're doing the same approach Ghosty64 did with her own episode 1 release; the main aspect ratio being 16:9 for the OP/ED and Eyecatches and the Z footage being pillarboxed in it's respective 4:3 aspect ratio. This ensures everything is presented in its original aspect ratio. Again, if we do decide to do Boo Kai, the same approach will be done for it.
The audio and subtitles in the SoM Kai and Team Mirolo TFC releases will be included as well, with some overhauling for the subtitles and syncing dubtitles for TFC. For anyone interested in muxing in their own audio and subtitles, our releases will be synced to the JPBD for Kai 1.0 and the USBD for Kai TFC. Anything synced to those will be synced with our release.
That should be everything for now. We've just started our QC process, so there won't be any major updates any time soon. Here's a couple questions that I wanna answer real quick. Anything covered here will be ignored.
1. Where can I ask about the project?
Any further questions can be asked here.
2. Is this gonna be a Seed of Might release?
No. We are a separate group from SoM, so it won't be released under them.
3. What's the compression settings?
The same as the DBZ CC, although you are encouraged to compress it yourself however you see fit.
4. What about the 35mm episodes?
Any 35mm footage is being replaced as well, since a lot of the detail is lost in 480p.
edit:
5. How can I keep track of progress?
While it's not as elegant, here's a spreadsheet of our video progress so far.

So far, the episodes released have been excellent, though I have noticed a few errors in some episodes, I can share what I've come across if you'd like. Though I understand that the vast majority of episodes haven't been Quality Checked yet if the spreadsheet is accurate. Whatever works best to help out

I’m curious how you handled redrawn scenes that have changed the timing on the lip flaps, particularly the few where the screen is moving cause you can’t just use different frames of the same shot to sync the voices.

Are you gonna link the spreadsheet? This is an awesome project.Emrealdsux wrote: Fri Feb 13, 2026 2:35 pm Hello, I'm one of the people working on syncing the Seed of Might Dragon Box CC to Dragon Ball Kai's audio. Re: Dragon Box Kai [Seed of Might DBox CC Sync to Kai]
I heard from someone else y'all are using some of my rescore projects in this, which I'm really grateful to have my work be used in something like this.
Just an FYI, my combo rescore is undergoing (hopefully the last one for a long time) a massive overhaul, where I'm going to be replacing the yamamoto tracks, some of the sumitomo tracks, and the insert songs I used with uncompressed flac versions. The tracks I used before had a lot of compression to them as noted from some people in the discord for my project. I also am going to update the few kikuchi rescore episodes where I placed an insert song with a higher quality (episodes 56, 67, 92)
So far I'm done with episodes 1-54, including purist and ultra purist. Basically any episode that has a yamamoto track will be replaced. I don't know how often you guys update the episodes in your project, but I just thought I'd let you know that I'm pushing this through. The lossless versions of the yamamoto tracks have made a huge difference.
At my rate I try to do 1-3 episodes a day, so sometime in april is when I forecast this update to be done.

Re: Dragon Box Kai [Seed of Might DBox CC Sync to Kai]
I have a trivial question about the television-only Yamamoto versions of English episodes 53-63: I thought it was weird that SoM didn't include those as audio options (only having the fan-made reconstructions of the post-52 English eps), and now you and your group make no mention of audio beyond importing SoM's tracks. Were there no adequate recordings made of those 11 episodes before the Kikuchi-ening happened?

Re: Dragon Box Kai [Seed of Might DBox CC Sync to Kai]
The reason why the Yamamoto English TV tracks of 53 - 63 aren't apart of either of our releases is because iKaos actually attempted a Nicktoons Kai audio sync years ago and ultimately dropped it due to them cutting bits and pieces of any fights, the audio quality being awful and the music being re-timed to match any cuts they did.johnboy1 wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 1:20 am I have a trivial question about the television-only Yamamoto versions of English episodes 53-63: I thought it was weird that SoM didn't include those as audio options (only having the fan-made reconstructions of the post-52 English eps), and now you and your group make no mention of audio beyond importing SoM's tracks. Since the dialogue is, for the most part, the exact same as the uncut BDs, it was much more doable to sync a Yamamoto rescore that added the music back. Most tracks may be of lossy quality instead of true lossless, but it's better and less impossible to do than a "Nicktoons sync."
And before anyone asks, no we are not doing a Nicktoons DBox sync.
Re: Dragon Box Kai [Seed of Might DBox CC Sync to Kai]
Whoa, THAT surprises me. They actually altered the scoring to match the cuts? Maybe I'm still stuck in the early 2000s mentality of anime dubs, but I expected them to simply chop out the shots in question and leave the obvious audio splices intact.Emrealdsux wrote: Sun Mar 01, 2026 2:28 am The reason why the Yamamoto English TV tracks of 53 - 63 aren't apart of either of our releases is because iKaos actually attempted a Nicktoons Kai audio sync years ago and ultimately dropped it due to them cutting bits and pieces of any fights, the audio quality being awful and the music being re-timed to match any cuts they did.

Re: Dragon Box Kai [Seed of Might DBox CC Sync to Kai]
Yeah the nicktoons cut was very high effort, to the point where I think some lines were intended for the uncut dub but got switched around. lol.
