This is why I never truly liked Xenoverse, the whole premise of the game is to avoid the timeline going wack, when that's the most interesting partkiarasuraru wrote: Mon Feb 23, 2026 1:01 amExactly. The Time Patrol stuff was just one of many things. DBO had a lot of plots in the current era. Sure, the Time Breakers had hand on many of those other factions but the key point is that they were original unique plots to the game that could only and did happen because of the game's setting.IntangibleFancy wrote: Mon Feb 23, 2026 12:09 amIt did, but it also had a lot of original things too. Like the red pants gang, Cell X, frieza force soldiers sticking around, dark namekians, etc etc.Bardock God of Time wrote: Sun Feb 22, 2026 11:33 pm
I mean didn't Dragon Ball Online have us go back in time to stop changes?
The worst part about Xenoverse is that you heard the NPCs doing all sorts of cool things. That one mention of a timeline where Piccolo Daimao absorbed Kami and was engaged in a three-way war against Babidi and the Red Ribbon Army lives rent free in my head. What do we, the players, get? Oh no, MC-kun! Villain-sama got a +1 in their powerlevel that gave them a color swap in their model! Quick! You have to help them defeat Villain-sama or the timeline will go wack if they win!
That's 99% of Xenoverse's content. I have no words to describe how absolute lame it is. Even worst what-if on TikTok is more creative and interesting and original.

It will save me a lot of money if it is XV3.
I kinda liked the content to an extent, but hated everything else, including the gameplay. Not to mention safe and uninspired choices.
I am happy to stick with Sparking!ZERO if it will have constant updates and looking forward to the “finishing the game” DLC.
It would make sense to brand it XV, as that brand already has familiarity and staying power. But I’d wish for something different and it’s own title to be the last hurrah from Toriyama contribution and for it to be actually good.
I have endured persuasions from my friend for like a year, who insisted that I should get and play Kakarot. Which I didn’t enjoy much, but the DLC made the game a lot more fun. It just took ages

XenoVerse 2's base game had 86 characters, and its DLCs are up to 55, which brings the total number to 141. If all these characters return, we could be looking at a 180-200+ character roster at launch. Daima alone could bring with it an additional 10 characters, and that's not counting all the missing characters from Z, GT, and Super up to the tournament of power. I also expect to see heavy representation for the original DB, as not a single character from that era made it into either XV1 OR XV2.

Example: Frieza 1st form can become 2nd form mid-game and go all the way to Golden Form
It'd be cool if they shrink the roster size down to one for each character:
Goku being one slot, you open it and it'll bring up all the different Goku's...Kid Goku, the forms, costumes, etc.

Tenkaichi 3's select screen has yet to be topped by any Dragon Ball game. Xenoverse 2 and Sparking Zero have too many characters for the type of screen they have, so I would like to see something like BT3's.Bardock God of Time wrote: Mon Feb 23, 2026 2:56 pmI hope Xenoverse 3 has a better character selection screen and allows us to transform into all forms for characters.
Re: "Dragon Ball New Project (AGE 1000)" Official Discussion Thread.
So now that we know that this IS XV3, I sincerely hope that they overhaul so many things.
1. The artstyle & character designs.
I HATE the artstyle of these games because they tried to replicate the Yamamuro style in 3D & every character looks like they've been dipped in oil as a result, but also the characters just look...off from how they do in the shows & movies. The worst offender being Goku, who doesn't look like how he SHOULD & his Super Saiyan 1 & Blue forms look...odd with their hair. He also has WAY too jacked of a body where he looks like he went Grade 2 permanently. Apply those as well to Goten (minus the body) & Goku Black. Then Vegeta's face looks incredibly off as well. I have no idea what they were thinking with him. His nose is too big & everything seems shifted in a weird way. It's like they based him off an off-model animation frame from Super. Which isn't likely because XV1 came out a year before Super did & they just reused the character models in 2. If they redo all of the character models to look more anime or manga accurate that need it, that'd be great.
2. The gameplay.
The gameplay loop of these games is really easy & boring. I literally just get the enemies in the same combo string, then finish off the combos with a Kamehameha. I hope the devs are taking influence from Sparking Zero or something because the gameplay should be better & more flashy. Now, they've varied it up with the last few DLCs, so I hope they keep it up with this game. Also, if they could condense every power up form into 1 transformation capsule, that'd be great.
3. The story.
The stories of the previous XV games are pretty bog standard. Not horrible, but not great either. The DLCs before the one where Fu showed up were pretty lackluster, but they've shown promise with the ones made since, so I hope they just go nuts & have fun with it.

Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

A rumor from last year stated that all the character designs were getting overhauled, but whether that's for the best or not remains to be seen. I personally don't have an issue with how they look, but I won't miss this style either.Scsigs wrote: Mon Feb 23, 2026 3:51 pmI HATE the artstyle of these games because they tried to replicate the Yamamuro style in 3D & every character looks like they've been dipped in oil as a result, but also the characters just look...off from how they do in the shows & movies.

So this is Xenoverse 3 after all? I don’t understand why they didn’t just announce it as such at the presentation last month.

It was a marketing move to get people speculating and building up hype for the eventual reveal in April at Battle Hour. They did the same for XV2, but the wait was only a few days if I remember correctly.WittyUsername wrote: Mon Feb 23, 2026 5:36 pm So this is Xenoverse 3 after all? But I don't think it'll release till Summer or Fall 2026...I don't know maybe they'll confirm some bonus for Xenoverse 3 if you get Future Saga Chapter 4?
Re: "Dragon Ball New Project (AGE 1000)" Official Discussion Thread.
To be fair, though, the last few games didn't have their proper names until a few months before they came out. Kakarot was just known as "Dragon Ball Game: Project Z" & Sparking Zero was just "Budokai Tenkaichi 4" for marketing purposes. So, it's just a common theme with new Dragon Ball games at this point to do that whether they have the actual names decided or not from the jump. The Dark Knight wrote: Mon Feb 23, 2026 6:46 pmIt was a marketing move to get people speculating and building up hype for the eventual reveal in April at Battle Hour. I don't share any of your reasons tbh but the thing I did hate about Xenoverse is I put a lot of thought into my first CoC, which I never do for any game, but I was excited bc it was a Dragon Ball game, only for my heart to be shattered by the fact that he's the butt of every "joke" in the cutscenes. You can make the most tricked out badass looking Freeza race, or a martial artist human, but no matter what, he's a loser.
Which might be forgivable if the direction behind the cutscenes actually made the scenes funny, but they never are, your character is just a total loser until the climax no matter what.
Most of the actual game is post-campaign anyway but I've hated Xenoverse for over 10 years for this specific reason lol
Xenoverse 2 kind of does the same thing but then made everything super easy, except the hub world, which is the most confused ugly thing ever, and you can't ignore it bc that's how you train to get new moves, and somehow the PC version runs even worse than Sparking Zero despite being 10 years older and much uglier.

Some info from DbsHype:
The game has been in development for 6-7 years.
Toriyama has been heavily involved with the project; be it world building, characters, and other aspects.
The game has more elements and settings than any other DB game up to this point.
The game will be set in a new Dragon Ball world. I assume this means a new hub world.
The game will include even more never before seen characters. I don't know if this means characters who've never been in a game before, like Heroes, or completely new characters to the franchise.

This sounds like a pretty ambitious game. Possibly moreso than any other game in the franchise. The Dark Knight wrote: Tue Feb 24, 2026 7:13 pm Some info from DbsHype:

It'd be cool if they shrink the roster size down to one for each character:

A game that let me be in Super Saiyan 3 and, If I want, transform into Super Saiyan Blue in the middle of the battle without the need to change to another variant of the same character would be amazing !
The variants must be only when the body of the character change. For example, something like Kid Gohan, Teen Gohan, Adult Gohan and Future Gohan (due to this version is one armed)
We would get a lot of great things:
- Cleaner Character selection screen
- More customization because we can use skins like saiyan armour with Ultra Instinct
- More unique characters
I hope one day Bandai Namco learn this lesson and, at last, we can enjoy all the things that make Dragon Ball so special

Every game we've gotten since the first Xenoverse has been of high quality, especially compared to the PS3 era DB games, so it makes sense they would want to keep that winning formula alive with XV3.
Xenoverse 1
Xenoverse 2
FighterZ
Kakarot
Sparking Zero
That's a list just as strong as the PS2 era, and if they can keep it up, then I think we'll be able to say that golden era will have been finally surpassed in quality.

I really wonder what kind of graphics "next-gen graphics" are they talking about because a strong artstyle with heavy stylization for anime look is not what I would call something that requires something resource intensive. Then again no one can optimize anymore even if their life depended on it.
