Unpopular DB opinions
Re: Unpopular DB opinions
The GT score is my favourite, followed by the Z Japanese score. I actually do like the Bruce Falcouner music too. I'm watching Super for the first time, and while I'm enjoying it, the music isn't really a stand out to me so far.

Super's music becomes great about halfway through, during the last arc. Very different from Shinsuke Kikuchi but often on par with it. Only shame is that era of Sumitomo music only lasted the one arc and probably isn't ever coming back.Kid Buu wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 6:59 am The GT score is my favourite, followed by the Z Japanese score. Re: Unpopular DB opinions
I prefer when Cell is drawn with more delicate facial features rather than a more monstrous look. Both versions work and have their purpose, but the softer design fits his personality better, at least until he loses his composure.
A good example is the chapter where he humiliates Trunks. His calm, controlled expression there makes the moment more effective.
I also have a soft spot for his earlier design, when he looked more like Freeza. I like the visual connection between the two, it adds something to his character.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
FLOW cover of "CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA" from Battle of Gods is the WORST cover of the song EVER!
I'm normally not a fan of cover songs, but I REALLY hate with burning passion.
I did not see Battle of Gods in theater, like I did with Resurrection F, Broly, and Super Hero for Fathom Events, but had I seen it back then, I would have probably walked out during the credit IMMEDIATELY; it's that bad.
It really burn my blood to the boil and it's probably one of the worst cover song ever made.
I don't know much about the band, FLOW, but I really don't like it.
I would have prefer just use original version from the show or Kageyama does new version (2013 version) for the movie.
I would even prefer just use new and original song by FLOW (even if it sucks), then bastardizing the classic.
Probably my least favorite aspect about that movie IMO.

FLOW literally did the insert song for when Gokuu transforms into his Super Saiyan form and fights Beerus, HERO -Kibou no uta-. Their Cha-La Head Cha-La cover was not the only song they did for the film.PowerPhantom245 wrote: Thu Mar 19, 2026 8:15 pm FLOW cover of "CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA" from Battle of Gods is the WORST cover of the song EVER!

Before their work on Dragon Ball, FLOW was known for their NARUTO songs: GO!!! and SIGN as well as their similarly huge success COLORS for Code Geass. They came back for the second season's second Opening, World End.
Their Dragon Ball work honestly seems to be pretty overlooked these days, which I think is a shame. FLOW has more drip than Dragon Ball does, so the way that FLOW hasn't worked on Dragon Ball since 2013 is a real loss for the series.

I don't know how popular they are, but it's just not my cup of tea.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
I personally don't hate it, but I don't understand why it was used at the end of the international cut of Kai: The Final Chapters. It wasn't a song used in Kai beforehand & it's not the original version from Z, so it was really dumb to be used there.PowerPhantom245 wrote: Thu Mar 19, 2026 8:15 pm FLOW cover of "CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA" from Battle of Gods is the WORST cover of the song EVER!

Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

I actually like HERO. I think it's somewhat iconic. I always associate it with Super Saiyajin God (even though it started playing later, when Goku turned into Super Saiyajin
)
That whole sequence is very good. I wish I had watched Battle of Gods in theaters back in the day. Unfortunately, I was too young to even know it was coming out.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
Dunno if unpopular, but going from these discussions here, I really don’t like Sumitomo’s music. There were some interesting moments and cool ideas with sampling, that came together quite fine in tracks like Goku Black’s theme, but there are no real themes throughout and it’s just an artsy pastiche.
I have to nod towards VegetoEX’s opinion on the Broly music especially… it grates my ears and that awesome idea of making it like a boxing match with announcer shouting names during the tracks doesn’t help at all.
I am not hoping or expecting that to happen, but I wouldn’t mind and actually welcome different or whole new composer for the Super “remaster” in fall.
With GT, I was suprised how much dated the BGM sounds nowadays with lot of “midi keyboard” synths, but there are cool atmospheres and tracks more than not and I never gave it much thought, as the alternatives are bad.
Menza’s score for GT was borderline mid and no wonder, as I’ve read some interview ages ago where he stated, that je just sat down and jammed on guitar for the episode length.
It was experimental in a sense, but what they achieved the most is what pissed me off with Faulconer’s music in the first place, that nonstop music mix. So they got rid of the themes that Faulconer’s score at least had and just slapped a boring wall of music over the episodes.
