Would you like Dragon Ball to get an AI dub?
Back in late November 2025, Amazon released an AI dub of Banana Fish on Amazon Prime Video, and it was removed after a few days due to widespread backlash. Amazon also did AI dubs of Vinland Saga and No Game No Life (and those already have English dubs), and those were also removed for the same reason as the AI dub of Banana Fish. However, the AI Spanish dubs of some of those anime remain on the platform.
Let's say Crunchyroll (or any dubbing company) does the same with the DB Super Remake and the DBS Galactic Patrol arc anime or any new DB anime. Would you tolerate a DB dub made entirely with AI?
To me, it's an obvious resounding no. Not only does the use of AI for a dub disrespect voice actors, but it also sacrileges the original work.

No, I wouldn't. Even when the dub cast don't give the best possible line deliveries its still an earnest attempt from a human being to create art, which I respect. AI just doesn't have the heart and soul.

Re: Would you like Dragon Ball to get an AI dub?
I do not want AI anywhere near any work of art ever.
Re: Would you like Dragon Ball to get an AI dub?
No way to AI. AI steals humans' creative works, puts humans out of a job, & damages the environment. Like, why? That's not worth the consistency of the sound of the characters' voices, imo.
I miss Hiromi Tsuru's Bulma, but I'm happy with Aya Hisakawa as her replacement. I don't want to see her replaced by an AI.

I wish we would stop getting threads like this. AI SHOULD NOT BE USED AT ALL FOR VOICE ACTING!!!

AI should not be used for any creative field whatsoever, period.
Re: Would you like Dragon Ball to get an AI dub?
This feels like asking
“Would you want to eat pizza someone puked on?”
I’m sure you might get one weirdo or contrarian saying yes but majority are gonna say no

No, and I'm glad that Mexico (where the Latin American dub of DB is produced) is set to pass a law banning the use of AI in dubbing.

All I want are Neo-Raws AI upscales of Seed of Might's color corrected dbox footage since the rights holders are insistent on feeding us raw sewage, outside of that? I have to ask if this was an April Fools troll post. lol

NO.
As a big fan of dubs, I value the creative mind and language knowledge from translators, the heart and soul of the performances from actors and actresses, the competence and artistic vision from directors and the hard work from audio engineers.

I agree wholeheartedly in saying "no" to an AI dub of Dragon Ball, and any other media, for that matter.TechExpert2021 wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 3:16 pm Back in late November 2025, Amazon released an AI dub of Banana Fish on Amazon Prime Video, and it was removed after a few days due to widespread backlash. That would be a fuck with a side no.

If the technique is there, yes. When I hear how the Japanese cast struggles sometimes, I'd rather have a better sounding AI-dub, perhaps with the cast getting royalties.

If a dub comes out and it's really good but you only find out at the end of the season that it's AI, would u automatically begin to hate it?
Re: Would you like Dragon Ball to get an AI dub?
Well yes because we know it was made to screw actual voice actors and script adapters out of a job. Hating AI goes beyond “it sounds and looks like shit”Sensiblesaiyans wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2026 7:45 am If a dub comes out and it's really good but you only find out at the end of the season that it's AI, would u automatically begin to hate it?
But also I think the Banana Fish AI dub is sufficient proof this is like asking “What if earth was made of pudding?”
Re: Would you like Dragon Ball to get an AI dub?
Art is about a two-way human connection between artist and audience. AI is about commercial 'product' meant to give an 'owner' 'control' over their 'product'. It's entirely utilitarian and devoid of artistic merit.
It really isn't that hard to get.

No.
...but we are likely to get food made out of AI, than that to happen.

I use AI in my fan dubs. I don't see issues with it for small roles. It's a God send to people like me who have no cast and crew and does all the work alone. So maybe is my answer.

Re: Would you like Dragon Ball to get an AI dub?
Mexico has declared AI will not be used on dubbing or voice acting. If they want to keep using AI they are going to have to send dubs to less reputable countries.
