Yeah, there's no way this is a new scan. The Dark Knight wrote: Thu Mar 19, 2026 6:22 pmI've been burned so many times by these companies that I honestly can't trust anything they say, so for the time being, I'll stick with Seed of Might's release.TheRed259 wrote: Thu Mar 19, 2026 6:16 pm Selecta Vision announced that this edition is being produced from the original HD master version of the series created by Toei Animation. Even if it is a new scan, they'll find a way to screw it up; they always do.

Re: Dragon Ball GT is getting a Blu-Ray release in Spain
So, it turns out that Toei has been using 'HD' clips from GT on social media for a few weeks now. So this clip (geolocked to America) probably comes from the same masters that they've provided to Selecta Vision.
Here's a very quick comparison with the American "Green Brick". The upscale does look sharper, but IMO the smudging is more distracting than the softness of the DVD (and of course, Funimation's DVD is noticeably softer than the Japanese equivalent). Also, why are they still using the US soundtrack...

An AI upscale, disgusting. Save your money on this one, folks.LostTimeLord wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 9:56 am So, it turns out that Toei has been using 'HD' clips from GT on social media for a few weeks now. Nothing screams "AI" to me, it just looks like it's been uber-processed the old fashioned way. I would have thought that AI would have sharper line art and not have all that fringing.

Honestly, whether they used technology A or B, doesn't really matter: It doesn't look good.LostTimeLord wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 5:26 pmNothing screams "AI" to me, it just looks like it's been uber-processed the old fashioned way. Aaaaaaand once again not even a basic white balance. Why is one of the most important series of all time treated like SUCH fucking dogshit by the ip holders?

Because fans have proven time and again that they will financially support anything with the brand's name on it, so there's no reason to put real effort into it.Metalwario64 wrote: Fri Apr 03, 2026 12:52 amWhy is one of the most important series of all time treated like SUCH fucking dogshit by the ip holders?

Exactly... that's what makes it so offensive. Like... one of the few good things AI can be used for and they just made a generic old fashioned smeary Youtube "DEE BEE ZEE REMASTERED 4k" style release. :/
