Conservatives have unfortunately waged a decades-long campaign to devalue the arts in the minds of the people, so unfortunately, I can see why people look at all this and think, "There's no value in the process of or appreciation of art."

Funny thing is, it’s the “tedious shit” that you look back on and smile on once the project is compete because the hard work is appreciated once everything comes together.

Generally speaking, you’d be surprised how fun it can be to “Zone Out” going over the extra details in the skin or eyebrows once hit a groove while drawing or putting your creative piece together.
It's not too late. One day, it will be.

Most of the enthusiasm I have seen is from tech bros and businesspeople that like being able to make art that looks decent (if you don't zoom in too closely) for free. When they say AI "democratizes art", they mean financially. You can draw things on a computer. You can make music on a computer without actual instruments. The people hyping this stuff aren't actually interested in learning those skills, they are excited that they can now acquire passable product without work and without going through the process of actually locating and hiring an artist. I've seen quite a few restaurants pop up now with AI logos. Lots of AI generated background music being pumped into streaming services. AI videos already starting to compete with real videos for your attention. You do see the occasional situation of an actual artist liking it as a thing to experiment with though. And it does have some legitimate uses in artistic spaces, like taking a song and separating all the instruments into separate tracks for remixing or sampling.

With voice acting I would prefer getting a human, but here's an interesting scenario. What about James Earl Jones? He wanted his voice to be Darth Vader's voice even after his death and signed away his audio "likeness" and did a bunch of extra takes to train an AI on. So should we keep using James Earl Jones AI as Darth Vader since it had his blessing and he put work into making it happen while he was still alive? Or should we recast?

They should recast Darth Vader—Jones isn'tthe only actor to ever play him as it is. AI isn't sentient, AI isn't a real person in the here-and-now that is bonding with an audience.

People die and you're going to stop getting new art from them some day and that's okay.

I can answer this question in one word:

*ahem*

N O

Regardless of if the talent consented before their passing, it's just creepy. Like reanimating a corpse. Plus, new talent should get the chance to portray legacy characters as well.
Looking for these rare items/information:

Any information or recordings pertaining to Dragon Ball Z's syndicated run on WAWB
Any information regarding the stations that carried the origin Dragon Ball in the USA
Dragon Box (any deals would be nice)
Shonen Jumps with Dragon Ball in them

Well in Chinese social media sites, someone is already using AI to create a Mandarin dub of Dragon Ball Kai using the voices of the Japanese cast speaking in Mandarin-Chinese.

That's terrible news, yikes. I hope things turn around soon, because I'm not looking forward to this sort of ghoulish behavior continuing.

It's fan-made and not anything official. There were also instances where the picture goes out of sync. Was interesting to hear the original cast speaking perfectly in Mandarin without a hint of a Japanese accent.

Fan-made or not, it's still behavior that is disrespectful and not something that should be encouraged.

People seem to care less when its "fan-made" over "officially-made". People flipped over CG Christopher Reeves in The Flash but as we speak my social media feed is being flooding with Sora2 videos of dead entertainers doing anything and everything.

Speaking of AI, you know what I'm feared of?
AI upscale for official release by Toei.
It has become too common thanks to James Cameron's recent 4K UHD release of Aliens, True Lies, and The Abyss, where some companies starts to use that technique.
It would be sad if classic series (original, Z, and GT) AI upscale, instead of remastering from film, for possible Blu-ray release.

Bringing back deceased voice actors is one thing, but destroying arts? Ugh!

I'd argue that there are competent methods of machine upscale, like the AstroRes process used by Discotek Media for example.
Admin of the Dr. Slump Wiki.

I have a nostalgic soft spot for the Dragon Ball 10th anniversary movie. Ditto the Buu saga.

Well I mean if done right the results are fantastic like what Neo-Raws is doing with Seed of Might's Dragon Box cleanup and color correction, but you KNOW Toei wouldn't do it right.

I wouldn't mind an AI upscale if it has actual people supervising the entire process and making sure everything is on point. As Metalwario64 said, Neo-Raws is proving that it can be done, but would Toei take the time to get it right ? probably not. Knowing what we know about Toei, they will likely put it through a cheap machine like what Funimation did back in 2007 and call it a day, regardless of the results. I would personally prefer for Toei to just pay Seed of Might and Neo-Raws to use their work instead of attempting something themselves, as fans have proven time and again to be far more competent then these so called "professionals".

It's such a tragic, when fan does a better job with restoration than major studios.
It's really frustrating that film exists, yet Toei doesn't bother with proper restoration to one of the most important anime ever exists in popular culture.
Toei is pretty ignorant.

Yeah... I'd just be happy with raw film scans man... that wouldn't be too expensive compared to a full color correction and clean up. But they don't care... I'll take what I can get and the fans provide that and I've given Toei and FUnimation more than enough money over the decades.
