SPARKING! ZERO - Visual Roster Checker (simplified alternative)

Post by Cold Skin » Sun Apr 12, 2026 4:07 pm

A simplified version of the Visual Roster Checker with individual portraits for those who find it more handy that way.

The order follows the game's encyclopedia for each fully different character story-wise, but all forms and versions of that character are gathered under one same section, including DLC. For example, Goku appears first in the encyclopedia, but all versions of him that appear later in the roster are immediately brought into that same first "GOKU" section.

Individual versions and their associated forms are on the same line. Another row means another selectable version, except for "Z Freeza" who overlaps since he has five forms, but I've spaced his versions a little more to compensate and keep it visually clearly grouped.

The names are the official English names used in the game first. As a bonus for foreign viewers, the original Japanese names are all included too, as well as the official French names from the French manga/official guides when they are different from the English ones (except for "Majin Coo" and "Majin Doo" which are logically deduced from "Majin Boo", thanks to the logical pattern Boo-Coo-Doo and so on if there had been more Majin creations).

A golden frame means the character is not part of the base game and therefore not accessible to players who won't download optional content.

Giant characters are represented as having mostly just their head filling the portrait, to try to convey their huge size.

If you are not connected to your forum account here, ads - sometimes invisible - might disrupt the presentation.

Those portraits exist in higher definition, you can ask me if you want some of them. However, be aware that while the majority of them use high definition assets thanks to the DB Legend game, some of them use assets than may look very unflattering to the eye in a bigger format...

The "normal" visual checker is still available in its own thread for those who prefer the more complete "card-like" presentation with transformation names, selection costs, stages available and "view by arc" section, though it's not up to date as it lacks DLC 3 content right now.

This is impressive work; good job.

I can't help but wonder why Daima's adult Ssj4 Goku and Ssj3 Vegeta weren't made part of their Buu arc versions, as that would've allowed us to transform into those forms mid-battle. Why not go a step further and give Buu arc Vegeta his GT outfit and allow him to transform into Ssj4 as well ?

^ Thanks!

And those Daima transformations are not part of the Z versions for the same reason that the Super transformations are not part of it either: they don't want different series to get "tainted" by other series, they even want to be faithful to the point that they don't want arc-related appearances to be mixed up with other arcs (such as Namek Goku getting the Vegeta-like costume he gets later for the Room of Spirit and Time).

They want to keep things "clean" and people to be unable to go "but that's not faithful, Goku never wears this costume during this era" or "but what is that Daima/Super transformation even doing here, it's not part of my original nostalgia-inducing Z character I chose, it shouldn't even be indicated as a possibility since it's impossible!!!"

You can expect it to always be this way for this game, for any upcoming costume or transformation!
Let's imagine they add Goku's farmer costume: you can already predict it's going to be available for Super Goku and not Z Goku! (which is ironic since this specific costume was invented before Super started in a special).
If Vegeta gets his BADMAN pink shirt, it will go to "Z-Early" Vegeta and absolutely not to "Z-End" Vegeta nor "Scouter" Vegeta nor "Super" Vegeta despite the base appearance being relatively the same.

They wouldn't want you to select "Boo arc" Goku / Vegeta and be able to reach a transformation they never reached during this arc, as they wouldn't be "Boo arc" Goku / Vegeta anymore. :)
I understand their point but I also understand how some players would like more freedom regardless of faithfulness or logic!

I initially thought this was the reason, then I remembered that Goku (late) has a base, Ssj2, and Ssj3 forms from the Buu arc, but his Ssj1 form is from the Cell games, so they clearly don't have an issue mixing and matching. Another issue is Ultimate Gohan; his Z version is a separate character, while his Super version is a transformation, so that's another inconsistency. I understand why Super has its own versions, as that's a long series, but considering how closely tied Daima is to the Buu arc (it's basically DLC), I think they should've just had those forms be part of their Buu arc versions.

^ For Gohan, it probably comes down to two things:

- A character's reversible transformations cannot go beyond four forms (including the base one) due to the interface/gameplay. Freeza is the only one having five and that's because they come one at a time if I remember well, so the four slots are never taken. Ultimate Gohan fits within the selection of the Super Hero version, but the Boo arc one is already full.
This is also why Ultra Instinct is a separate character: DBS Goku was already full with his 4 reversible forms. Otherwise it would have made sense!

- The Boo arc gave the impression at the time that it was a point of no return with basically a new Gohan unable to access Super Saiyan transformation anymore. They might want to stick with that nostalgic take on the character to not rub Z-only fans the wrong way even though it was later proven wrong in DBS.
On the contrary, Super Hero Gohan is shown transforming directly into it, being able to do the same in the game isn't a problem in the "faithfulness to how it's depicted" department.

As for Goku, he has a version that was simply deemed able to encompass both the Cell and Boo arc. All transformations can fit in the selection for both arcs, as well as his style that doesn't change between those arcs.

And when it comes to not mixing in Daima even when it's short, just think that they don't want to rub the wrong way those who don't want to "pollute" the Z version with Daima if they consider it shit. It's really not about the length, Super Hero is even shorter than Daima as a movie and they still chose to create a brand new Piccolo that fits this movie in appearance and transformation rather than give his new transformations to the existing Piccolo.

From there, it's easy to predict what would happen with characters being added. For example, Ultra Ego would be its own character as it doesn't fit in the 4 slots for DBS Vegeta.
BUT I could be wrong and taken by surprise with future decisions, for example if they decide to give a Daima adult Goku costume to one of the other Gokus! But for now, from what we've seen so far, we can start off on the basis that it won't happen unless we get contradicted in the future.

Plus, it's already easy to counter my own observations if current observations are true about the upcoming update allowing two Z C-17 to fuse in the GT "Super C-17", which would indicate that they DO authorize a series' version to access another series' transformation when they decide it! Granted, in this case, it would apparently be only in the very unique case of having twice the same character in your team, which implies you already accept to lean the logic towards GT since there are two C-17, therefore unlocking the bridge between series only in this very specific case, but we'll see if there are more instances of those less restrictive ideas in the future!
