The second one is, was Gohan a Super Saiyan 2 in Movie 10? I know he didn't have any sparks around him, but mistakes such as that have been made in DBZ, pretty blatantly too. So..who wants to answer these unanswerable questions? And if you could, please explain your reply.

And of that, I'm referring to the two most infamous questions concerning the power of Broly.
The first one is, were Goku and Gohan at the same level of power in Movie 8 as they were in the Cell Game, when fighting Cell himself?

Re: Questions That Cannot Be Answered
There's been several threads on these very topics lately, but since I'm in a nice mood...
1) While Gohan was a Super Saiyan, they were not in their constant, relaxed, "Full Power" SSj states. They stayed in base, transformed when they needed, were knocked down from the state if they took damage, etc...
2) Goku was more powerful than Gohan. This was not the case during the Cell Games. Stemming from that, if they had been at such a point, Goku would probably have tried to push Gohan to go SSj2 to win. Then again, Broly's focus was almost perpetually on Goku, so he might not have had time, opportunity, or focus to lend to that goal.
3) The two of them were, for all we could tell, no more or less powerful than Vegeta and Trunks were. Piccolo, too, was pretty much on the same level as all four of them. This would suggest more Androids saga-level of power. Or as some people have suggested, it's as if the Saiyans were plucked out of the Room of Spirit and Time halfway through their training. Everyone got beat up by Broly just as easy as anyone else. Nobody did any better against him until lending Goku some power, and even then he only barely overcame him.
Nope, they were clearly not as powerful as their Cell Games selves. Several ways to tell...G-Villain wrote:The first one is, were Goku and Gohan at the same level of power in Movie 8 as they were in the Cell Game, when fighting Cell himself?

It's probably safe to assume that no, he wasn't. Not only based on the visual details, but also how well he did against Broly. NO Super Saiyan 2 is weaker than Broly. If Gohan were at that stage he would easily have ground Broly's face into the dirt. As for WHY he didn't, since we know he's capable of it at that point... well, Gohan's kinda dumb. The second one is, was Gohan a Super Saiyan 2 in Movie 10?

There's really not enough information to say for sure, but heres what I think:G-Villain wrote:And of that, I'm referring to the two most infamous questions concerning the power of Broly. The first one is, were Goku and Gohan at the same level of power in Movie 8 as they were in the Cell Game, when fighting Cell himself?

1. No. Goku and Gohan were not Full Power Super Saiyans. They were in there natural base form during the beginning of movie 8 which means that did not have the benefit of SSJ feeling natural and therefore could not unlock the FPSSJ power. On top of that, Gohan didn't have that fire in his eye that he had when he kicked cells ass. He was portrayed to be weaker than goku and even piccolo put up a better fight. On top of that, Vegeta and Trunks didnt use their USSJ forms, which leads me to assume that they were only regular SSJs.
2. It seems like the dbz movies kinda forgot about SSJ2, probably because the difference is so subtle. In theory, yes it should have taken at least a SSJ2 to pull that off. But none of the movie was canon, you have to take it for what it is. Gohan killed him as a SSJ NOT a SSJ2 otherwse he would have had the electricity around him and whether that is logical or not thats the direction the movie went.

I'll wait for Xyex to find this thread and then he'll tell you the truth about this. He did it on the last thread that was about this.

Haha. If I could remember which thread that was I'd just go quote myself, save me the time. XDPain wrote:I'll wait for Xyex to find this thread and then he'll tell you the truth about this. He did it on the last thread that was about this.
No. Goku and Gohan are 'mid training' in movie 8. Likely not much stronger than Trunks and Vegeta were against Semi-Perfect Cell as SSJUs. This is evidenced by them not doing much better than everyone else, by the lack of perma-SSJ, the fact Gohan's not stronger than Goku, and lack of Goku trying to push Gohan to SSJ2 to beat Brolly. And of that, I'm referring to the two most infamous questions concerning the power of Broly. The first one is, were Goku and Gohan at the same level of power in Movie 8 as they were in the Cell Game, when fighting Cell himself?
Nah. Gohan lost a lot of power between the Cell Games and movie 10. He's likely down around movie 8 SSJ Goku's level of power. Maybe a bit stronger, but not by much. And for some stupid reason he never uses SSJ2. (Perhaps it hadn't been seen yet with 'adult Gohan' when the movie was made so the animators had no idea what it should look like. Or Gohan was just scared of loosing himself as he did against Cell.) If he had used SSJ2 Brolly wouldn't have stood a chance. The second one is, was Gohan a Super Saiyan 2 in Movie 10? I know he didn't have any sparks around him, but mistakes such as that have been made in DBZ, pretty blatantly too.

Scenario A: Bulma had stuffed Vegeta into a frilly pink maid dress and was making him clean all of Capsule corp. as punishment for breaking the gravity rooms (again) while Piccolo was so busy watching this from the Lookout and laughing his ass off he never noticed Brolly.Rocketman wrote:Maybe we should also ask where the hell Vegeta and Piccolo were.
Scenario B: Bulma and Vegeta were busy having some 'personal time' while Trunks wasn't around. And Piccolo was meditating up on the Lookout but fell asleep out of boredom.
Scenario C: Vegeta fled into space to escape from Bulma's constant complaining and nagging and Bulma sent Piccolo to go get him and bring him back.
Scenario D: Piccolo noticed Brolly and went to get Vegeta to help fight him. Vegeta freaked out over Brolly's return, knocked Piccolo unconcious, and then went and curled up in a fetal position under his bed while sucking on his thumb.
Scenario E: Vegeta was stuck on the can and Piccolo was sick with the chicken pox.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

Re: Questions That Cannot Be Answered
One thing that I have always thought, is that DBZ movie 10 might take place in one of the timelines that Future Trunks created when he was doing his back and forth traveling to "save the world". The things that make me think this is that Goku is dead (heart virus?) and Gohan seems to be limited to SSj. I know that this is almost positively not what the writers of the movie where thinking, but is there any evidence that says that this couldn't take place in one of those time-lines?G-Villain wrote:The second one is, was Gohan a Super Saiyan 2 in Movie 10? Re: Questions That Cannot Be Answered
Well Goten shouldn't exist if Goku died from the heart virus...but wasn't Trunks's time interference supposed to have made tons of alternate futures that weren't even shown? it could be one of those i mean anything can happen in an alternative future that is a good way to explain the movie inconsistencies. Btw, is there a forum topic on all the different timelines besides the 3 from the show?SSj_Rambo wrote:One thing that I have always thought, is that DBZ movie 10 might take place in one of the timelines that Future Trunks created when he was doing his back and forth traveling to "save the world". Anyway, here's an old thread about them, I know there's a few more and I'll try to find them later, but I think this one pretty much covers it all:

I too wondered this, it seems like in the movie they were trying to give Brolli every possible advantage, what with him only facing CHILDREN and a disillusioned, whiny teenager to fight.Rocketman wrote:Maybe we should also ask where the hell Vegeta and Piccolo were.
I mean, at this point Vegeta could defeated Brolli with barely a glance. Anyway, why give Piccolo any airtime? I mean, why not just permanently relegate a popular and interesting character to permanent 'sideline' status? Yeah, it's not like all the character development Piccolo underwent makes him worthy of at least a passing glance by Broli in Movie 10.
