I didn't want to make a new thread, but the original thread was strangely locked after the OP abandoned so here it is. This isn't a versus thread and it's half a power scaling thread, but I want to focus on the meta aspects instead of just listing arguments.
At face value, Super > Kid is the logical answer. Goku and Vegeta wanted nothing to do with Super and planned to turn him back into Fat. Kid seems weaker and Goku can fight him and would've killed him if not for his infinite stamina. Seems pretty simple, right?
But then you start looking into it. Kibitoshin's info dump is ambiguous (Did South Kaioshin also nerf Boo, or was it only Dai? What does "most troublesome" mean?), but then you have stuff like Vegeta saying ONLY Goku can fight Kid, Gohan's donation not being enough, Goku and Vegeta saying they'll all die if the Genki Dama fails, Vegeta saying another Kid Boo would mean the end of the world... Those arguments could easily be dismissed as just Toriyama being dramatic, trying to create artificial stakes by keeping Gohan away from the battlefield. But if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck...
And then there's the supporting material, the bin in which I throw guidebooks, filler and the sequels. They don't necessarily mean anything, but isn't it odd that whenever they come up, it's always in Kid Boo's side? The only guidebook that ever sided with Super was the spanish translation of The Legendary Manga, but then other translations came up and they all said Kid was the superior. The sequels all have Goku instantly surpassing Gohan after the Boo Saga is over, but it's just as likely Gohan got rusty as usual.
Except for Dragon Ball Super. The anime has Vegeta say Goku became the strongest by defeating Kid Boo. Even if we dismiss this as a continuation of the filler, the manga has Dende describe Oob as the reincarnation of the strongest villain they ever fought. I've never seen a proper counter for this, but maybe Super Boo and Kid Boo are being lumped together despite being separate entities? The guidebooks do refer to both by the same name (Evil Majin Boo), after all.
My conclusion: Both answers are illogical
If we're sticking to direct evidence, it's Kid Boo. Dende's line in DBS is as objective and canonical as it gets. The guidebooks and Z anime aren't 100% canonical, but they spell it with all the letters. The manga gave us lines that could be interpreted in other ways ("Gohan is ignored because he's dead, or because he sucks"), but when you add all the pieces together, it's as I've said before: If it talks like a duck and walks like a duck...
But this also makes no sense. Goku was freaked out by Super Boo. If Kid Boo is stronger, why is the manga so oblique about it? Why does Goku maintain to the very end that he can kill Kid Boo, he just needs more energy? If Goku got stronger, why isn't it stated? How did this happen? When? It's genuinely just GT/Super levels of power scaling. In this route, characters are just as strong as they need to be without rhyme or reason, the only constant is that Goku is #1.
But considering that the Boo Saga is universally agreed to have the lowest writing standard, how much does logic really matter here?

Please do not create a direct response/continuation thread to a recently-locked thread, just because / even if its specific topic creator decided to abandon things (and/or burn bridges). Thanks.
