Before I found out about Kanzenshuu, my main source for Dragon Ball news and information was this Spanish website called Bola de Dragón.

I'm glad the site is still up. Even though it hasn't been updated since Dragon Ball Super.

There were and are other sites as well like ANMTVLA but those were are also focused in other stuff than just Dragon Ball.

What about you guys?

I used to look at myfavouritegames.com too. I think I first discovered this site in its Daizex days when they did the Rumour Guide entry on Dragon Ball AF but didn't join it for several years. I also used to read tv.com quite a bit for most of my favourite shows, including Dragon Ball (mainly Z at the time).

I was actually the editor for DBZ and YYH on TVTome / TV.com.

Pretty sure I went to the first iteration of this very site back in the late 90s/00
Planet-Namek was another one I used to go to as well.

Fuck, I think there was one that was also called "The Black Saiyan".

But the one that sticks in my mind, the one I have extremely vivid memories of is Vegeta Insane/Ginga Giri Giri. A DBZ fansite known primarily for the AMVs that were made by a dude called Castor Troy. Used to be absolutely obsessed with those vids, so much so that they're essentially burned into my brain.

During the 2010s he remastered all of his old vids using footage from the Dragon Box. Luckily they're all up on the Internet Archive site.

I used to look at myfavouritegames.com too.

I remember visiting it a lot around 2004. Most of the movies weren't aired/released in the UK at that point, so I found the movie galleries amd guides on that site really interesting. I remember them referencing Cooler only appearing in his 4th and 5th forms, and there was a blank image that with the text "Coming soon" in reference to his first 3 forms. They never were added for obvious reasons.

I also remember watching the Budokai 3 E3 2004 trailer on there, and having to wait ages for it to buffer. This was back when my family used AOL dial-up internet, and nobody could use the phone while connected.

Some other sites I used to visit largely for DB videogame news were Dranet.com, AmarsDBZN.com, and Secretsaiyan.com.

I remember Secretsaiyan.com sticking around a bit longer than those other sites. I distinctly remember it still being around in 2006 leading up to the release of Tenkaichi 2. I even remember first reading about the Ultimate Uncut redub announcement for the first time on there.

I know i had lurked around this forum and the site as a whole specifically since it was still known as Daizenshuu EX, before the merger between it and Kanzentai into the current iteration back in April 2012 and had frequently browsed both sites when they were still separate entities. Even though i didn’t make my account here on the forum until 2019 my history with this site, the podcast and other things goes back to around 2008 or 2009 predating the fusion into Kanzenshuu. During my high school years were some of the times i look back on the most, in particular the era of DBZ Kai’s run into all the hype and buzz around Battle of Gods in 2012/2013.

Greg Werner's Ultimate DBZ Info page was a revelation. I remember reading his blow by blow account of the Goku Vs. Freeza fight and his insanely detailed Complete Character Guide. His Stuff You're Missing page was also the first time I saw how butchered the dub was. It enraged me but it was also validating. Dragon Ball wasn't just some silly KIDS show, it had BLOOD and SWEARING (...in the fansubs).

DBZ Uncensored was also a favorite of mine, explaining all the dub edits in detail with some commentary. It had some really nice web 1.0 design to it as well. I remember the webmaster having this real "righteous indignation" combined with a smug nerd attitude thing going on. A lot of people on the internet were like that back then.

Planetnamek.com was one of the central hub sites for the fandom. The site itself was pretty good and I spent a lot of time on the forums. The subbie vs. dubbie flame wars that used to go on there were some of the meanest and most intense experiences I've had online. I used my real name in their chatroom and someone from my school recognized me and I remember getting freaked out and logging off immediately.

I'll never forget when I enrolled at the Polytechnic of Milan in 2002, and they asked me for my email address, which was vegeta.ss4@dragonballgt.it at that time. The look on the face of the lady who processed my application was priceless. Both that email address and the portal which provided it don't exist anymore, though. I used to contribute to that website with some translations from Japanese stuff and a few other things.

Despite that email address, in case you're nosy enough, I did manage to become an engineer, but that's a story for another day.

Dragon Ball Arena used to be one of my favorite sites when I started getting into the series. I used to consider it one of the best sites next to Dizenshuu EX and Kanzentai.

Thanks a lot for sharing this! I really miss this kind of pages, not only because of their aesthetic but also because of "Fan & Fun" sections they had like postcards, downloadable wallpapers and AMVs, quizzes, minigames, fanfictions, jokes and stuff.
