Anyway about what Geekdom said, I think it's crazy if the Champa arc really ends being just 7 episodes. That means if we really get the Zamasu and ToP arcs, and trimmed in a similar way, then indeed the total runtime of this Kai-like series won't conflict with the supposed release of the Moro arc for late 2027. There will be enough time for them to retell all 5 arcs and maybe even a Broly retelling if they plan to do such, I didn't expect for it to be this short which is why I was skeptical about seeing Moro prior to 2028.
The entire series could easily be done up through Moro in the length of 52 episodes, which I've said before. Even including a short "F" retelling and Broly retelling. The manga, after all, gets to Moro within 42 chapters, and not all pack in more content than an anime episode would fill.

If that's true, then the number of episodes was halved. The U6 saga in the original was 13 episodes (28-41). The Beerus saga is certainly more than halved, since it went from 14 episodes to 6.

I really just want them to do the same with the Future Trunks saga and the Tournament of Power saga. There's a lot of fat to trim.

21 episodes -> 13 episodes and 54 episodes -> 25 episodes seems about right.

I mean, surely there is a middle ground between the manga off-screening Kefla and Anilaza and the original anime making like 5 episodes just for Ribrianne.
At his core Zamasu is good like Shin, though I guess you could say he was so fastidious that it backfired. But you know, for this "Future Trunks Arc" you had to depict Zamasu and Trunks' inner conflict, right? If this was back when I was drawing the manga myself then I doubt if I could have done it. I mean, I'm not very good at depicting the characters' psychology on the page. So this all came together because now I only have to think up the story. [...] On my own, I doubt I would have been able to express Zamasu's fall to the dark side.

I’d honestly be pretty disappointed if it doesn’t happen, because I definitely think the Zamasu arc deserves it. But at the same time, I think it’s totally realistic that it might not happen. One Piece has several other arcs that could really benefit from a remaster too, yet the Fish-Man Island arc has been a unique case so far.

That being said, I’m not gonna argue against myself here — I hope you’re right, and that we get a Future Trunks arc remaster too.

It could also be a strategy. If they don’t say “we’re definitely doing it” just yet, they’ll have something “new” to announce after the Moro arc. On the other hand, they could also spread everything out and plan it better. After the remastered Champa arc, there’s now “nothing”; you have to switch to the old DBS series (which is technically a different series) and select the right episode when the Future Trunks arc starts. That doesn’t really make much sense. I still assume the remaster will cover the entire series, but it might take longer than expected.

Don't anime seasons release in 13 or 26 batches of episodes ? If Beerus (6 episodes), Golden Freeza (5 episodes), and Champa (7 episodes) make up 18 episodes, then we theoretically might get the Zamasu arc as a surprise announcement later this year at Jump Festa to round out the remaining 8 episodes to reach that 26 episode threshold.

And some seasons are 8 episodes (Demon Slayer), and some are 11 episodes (Also Demon Slayer), some 12 episodes (Chainsaw Man S1), some 13 episodes (My Hero Academia S1), some 23 episodes (Jujutsu Kaisen S2), and some are 28 episodes (Frieren), etc..

I'd say, anecdotally, 12-episode seasons or cours seem to be the most common nowadays, but I wouldn't read too much into it.

A production committee will buy timeslots based on availability and what they want from their period of promoting a series actively. It should be noted that while Kimetsu no Yaiba: Demon Slayer did have eight episodes for its last season, those were not entirely standard-length 24-ish minute episodes. Some of them were longer.

Toei Animation tends to be very traditional about the timeslots that its projects get. The laat time I can remember an episode having a non-standard length was, again, Daima having that 32-minute-long first episode and also only running for, what, twenty-one weeks? Otherwise, it's still a series constructed to fit neatly in their usual international-friendly 23-minute long, multiples of 12 or 13 episodes format.

That being said, I could see the production committee agreeing to try to fit those first four Super arcs into 26 episodes, for sure. It would neatly fill the ONE PIECE (1999) timeslot while it's on hiatus for six months. I guess we'll see how this all pans out in a few months!
