Yeah but that doesn't mean you need to redo the translation from scratch. You can use other subs as base.
But, unless the subtitle writers are provided with an EDL (edit decision list) or something similar, they would have to go through the original episodes and manually identify every line of dialogue - and then there'll inevitably be new or re-worked lines that do need translating on top of that. I would guess that Toei will simply ask for it to be translated as if it's entirely new material, as that's the easiest option logistically. Will the translators even have access to the original?
So I would expect it to be the other way around: mostly re-translated, perhaps referencing the original subtitles here and there. But it's also almost certainly going to be translated by Toei, so the 'original translation' would be the simulcast subtitles and not the DVD/Simmons ones we actually want.

They'll likely need to retranslate the series from scratch because the scripts are written from scratch. You need to know what those lines actually say before you just slap English text on the screen.

There's really no point in going through the process of identifying which line from whichever episode is the exact same as a line from the 2015 series and then just copying the exact same translation. It's a massive headache that can be mitigated by simply taking the script for the new episode from 2026 and translating it as-is.
Of course, once there's little time left before the new version, feel free to re-watch all three first arcs of the previous version to refresh your memory about what it was before seeing what it becomes when masterfully reworked to be better and next-level in every aspect.
That's only 42 episodes to add to your watchlist and to spend HOURS on when excluding the post-Champa filler!
Maybe you'd better get to it soon and REVEL again in the quality of the previous version knowing you're just watching a rushed draft of the actual reworked this-time-we-care final product!
If my schedule ever stops sucking, I plan on rewatching the Champa arc, actually. I haven't watched it since the original broadcast, so I'm curious to see how the scripts hold up, especially when watched a few episodes at a time. I honestly expect it to be better than the Enhanced Edition, assuming the Champa arc sees the light of day.

Yeah, it could be a pain in the ass, unless the translator knows exactly what the re recorders (new lines) are. I really, really hope not we will get Toei's messed up translations but I fear we do.

This logic does make sense, but oh how much easier of a pill to swallow it would be if Toei had a habit of hiring good translators with a strong grasp on both Japanese and English.
But they don't. Their track record is all over the place but on the whole leans pretty heavily towards translations that are either grammatically questionable or demonstrate a weak understanding of both Japanese and English. Reusing Simmons would presumably be a stronger base, but yeah, it's a hassle they are unlikely to want to bother with. ...So let's hope we get something closer to the quality of the previous Super simulcast sub and not, like, Sailor Moon Crystal Season 3.

One less, the Mr. Satan filler will probably be completely skipped. So they very likely took a bit from all those 41* episodes. Some more than others.

When it starts airing, I'll be switching between its episodes and respectivelly the episodes of the original anime.
It will be easier for me to do the comparison. It'll be especially much easier if this new version goes accordingly to my current expectations which is doing nothing more than just massive cuts, adding filters to the scenes and reworking part of them. I don't even think there will be new recorded dialogue.
If it ends up being the case I'll hardly be able to see it as the finalized / intended / definitive version of the 1.0 anime personally. It will be a neutered version of it and a excuse to have it match the length and visual quality of modern battle shonen, also because they likely want DB to be a seasonal anime from now on and buy time for the new anime made from scratch (The Galactic Patrol). Would've been actually ideal to keep the Dragon Ball Super Kai title imo, it suits the idea.
The true finalized version of the 2015 anime being its 1.5 version released after the original broadcast of the episodes.

If they cut out many episodes that makes Goku look dumb, I would consider that a huge improvement. As for Goten and Trunks that is tricky, if they cut out the scenes that they are forbidden then they cut out the parts that makes them good characters. That would mean we won't see them interested in training, fighting and wanting to help their allies.
Cutting scene with Chi Chi being her annoying self, I think that would be a good thing.
Well, the Beerus saga went from 14 episodes to 6, so they cut down the filler significantly. That's why I want them to do Future Trunks and Tournament of Power. There is sooooooo much filler and bloating to eliminate. A Kai version of those arcs would be a lot more rewatchable. The story is engaging and so are the characters, it's just the constant cuts to Pilaf or spectators on the stands that ruins the pacing.
I just want filler cuts. And I don't know if new dialogues are planned. The announcement website said this:
This ENHANCED edition introduces a large volume of newly added and redrawn cuts, as well as a reconstructed narrative. With cutting-edge visual expression, the series delivers even more immersive battle scenes and a more faithful representation of the original manga—bringing an ENHANCED edition to life like never before.
The way I see it, the "new content" has to do with new and redrawn scenes and transitions, not new scenes of dialogue entirely.

At his core Zamasu is good like Shin, though I guess you could say he was so fastidious that it backfired. But you know, for this "Future Trunks Arc" you had to depict Zamasu and Trunks' inner conflict, right? If this was back when I was drawing the manga myself then I doubt if I could have done it. I mean, I'm not very good at depicting the characters' psychology on the page. So this all came together because now I only have to think up the story. [...] On my own, I doubt I would have been able to express Zamasu's fall to the dark side.

Let's hope they don't forget a crucial element for the viewers to understand the situation: the explanation about the Pilaf gang being kids!
When you see reactions from people discovering the plot, there's no trouble if they go through the movie because the explanation is given. But it was not present in the series and people that haven't watched the movie and discover the events through the series struggle to understand why the Pilaf gang is suddenly depicted as being a bunch of kids!

But the "new" would be just new versions of the scenes present in the original anime, or scenes that are indeed new? It says "newly added"
If we take the scenes shown in the trailers, all of them switch between scenes that were already present in the original, but with completely new different visuals such as the many shots with Beerus, and then there are the scenes that were simply redrawn over the original, like the shots with Vegeta (then there is the third type which is scenes that have no visual difference in comparison to the original but the addition of a filter)
The only scenes that I think are potentially 100% new are maybe the shot of Beerus in the planet where he destroys half of it. Also the scene where he's sleeping, but, if I'm not wrong, that could have very well been made over one of the scenes from episode 18, using one of Toriyama's concept art for BoG as reference.
I don't recall if SSJ Goku uses the Kamehameha against Beerus in space in the anime, only in the movie, so maybe that is new too, or was made over SSJG's kamehameha.
Aside from that, I think all the shots we saw so far take as basis some scene from the original anime. I bet the random shot with SSJ Goku training was made to replace one of the shots where Beerus imagines Goku's silhouete.
But that is just the way I see it, I think that official description is ambiguous, "redraw cuts" being precise but not the rest, what exactly is a "reconstructed narrative" supposed to mean? And especially "more faithful representation of the original manga"?
That latter one already going in contradiction with we heard and saw, with SSJ Goku being seen fighting Beerus in the thermosphere, and Akio Iyoku saying he wanted to be more faithful to the original script at least for this arc.
That is misleading, and I wouldn't blame anyone who still expects to see a lot of the manga exclusive stuff and alternate version of events in this new version.
If I were them, I would've been more careful in writing that, I would've written that it's simply a retouch on the old anime to make it feel new by giving it new visuals and cuts that will make the story feel more straight to the point. It wouldn't open to many interpretations.
Of course, there's the possibility the description is the way it is because of marketing, making fans excited thinking that they will see more than what it's actually going to have.

It is exclusive to the manga, you would have to expect other background only given in the manga as well, such as Mirai Trunks' training with Kaioshin, but they could ignore that if they want.

Removing the Pilaf gang doesn't seem possible, seeing that Present Mai was involved with the high school chapter. Then we have Future Mai who contributed a lot in Future Trunks time line.
Pilaf was the one who helped Bulma calculate how to travel willingly to other time lines.

I said "remove those characters all together" for a reason.
Toei just announced not one, but two One Piece movies; one for next year and another for 2029. I wonder how this will impact Dragon Ball, as One Piece will also have its yearly seasonal anime being produced at the same time. I wonder if this is why the remake won't cover the remaining two arcs, as all that new One Piece material likely means Granola will get pushed back, so they've decided to have Zamasu and the tournament arcs fill in that gap.

Going by the titles of these films, God Valley (2027) and Badd (2029), it seems like the first will at least be a movie in the style of what Kimetsu no Yaiba: Demon Slayer and Chainsaw Man have done: adapt an arc from the comic into a film and then—in the case of Kimetsu no Yaiba: Demon Slayer—re=edit said film into half of a season of the animated series.
My guess is: the ONE PIECE production committee is renegging on their decision to do only six months of episodes per year so that they can promote the series' more climactic arcs in movie theaters so that they can make more money. Like, the latest Kimetsu no Yaiba: Demon Slayer movie made over $800,000,000 in the global box office, so I think that's why these two films are in production as-is.
So, my guess: I don't think that Dragon Ball will be affected too much, because I don't expect ONE PIECE to air a season for the next few years. If anything, it'll come back in 2030 with those two films re-edited into a single cour.
As for, like, animators and stuff: I'm going to assume that the production of these films aren't going to require too much in the way of borrowing whoever is working on Dragon Ball because the ONE PIECE team already has so many animator connections. That being said, I'm sure there's time to properly schedule things, so I'm relatively confident that The Galactic Patrol won't be affected because it'll only be one or two cours long and even if they're not consecutive cours the production will be fine.
You know, seeing not one but two one piece movies makes me feel some type of way regarding how Toei and Shueisha treat Dragon Ball. One Piece has an actual remake made by WIT, a live action, an on-going manga, and 2 movies confirmed, but all Dragon Ball has is a remaster with 2 of the 3 arcs already having movies, and Moro, which is actually something new and worth looking forward to, but as seen by how they treated Daima and Beerus, it will probably be ignored marketing-wise.
At times it really does feel like they're undermining it.

Toei and Shueisha have been undermining Dragon Ball for decades now, especially when you look at how they handle One Piece. You can tell OP is their main priority, while DB is something they turn to every now and then for a quick $ to fun more OP.
If I was newer to this fandom I'd be like "Well of course One Piece gets more stuff--Eiichiro Oda is alive and actively making his manga where Akira Toriyama has been dead for 2 years." but OP being favorited has been going on for decades so I know it's not that.
The favoritism used to bother me more when I had the bandwidth for it--like, back during Film Red or Strong World times.
I've been reading OP weekly for a long time so I do like the franchise, but I don't love it the way I do DB.
Super was overall a fun ride for me, but that was close to 10 years ago. The SH Figuarts of the adult characters and some of the battle animation were the only things I liked about Daima. I can go the rest of the way with never doing the "and they were turned into children" thing ever again.
I'd really like a new DB story arc to give me a break from the more stressful parts of life in 2026, but there's plenty of other shows I watch that are mostly filling that void now.
I can almost guarantee we'll get something at NYCC because I won't be around that weekend to catch it live.
Eh, I don't think there's any real 'favortism' going on here. ONE PIECE looked absolutely dreadful until Nagamine took over. Even now, it still suffers from very conservative adapting of the story at a slow pace. ONE PIECE (1999) has its strength in the production team being passionate and having contacts. Dragon Ball, like other Toei titles, isn't as lucky to have those things.
I do think the failure is on the overall leadership, though. It's just not quite a "we hate Dragon Ball" thing, so much as a different priorities thing. On Daima, there was apparently less wiggle room for animators to go wild like they do on ONE PIECE (1999)and that could be a result of edicts from Toriyama about looking as much like his work as possible.
