I was even more confused that they didn't when two male characters were allowed to be shown as a couple. Even if that pairing was a doomed romance.
For Super if for some reason the show wouldn't allow them to kiss they could've done a cute thing where Kale gets to be forward and kiss Caulifla on the cheek, and she could blush and smile back. Some kind of acknowledgement that the feelings are reciprocated.
I imagine that it has to do with what the production committee will fund. If the main product—the girls—are explicitly queer, they'll pull out because it will harm their bottom lines.

As for Super, it's basically the same thing. That and I'm sure that FujiTV doesn't want people complaining about queerness on what was a 9AM Sunday cartoon lol.

It sucks, for sure.

Those first 9-10 years of his life are defined so clearly by how he needs to related to the men around him that by the time that he has peace and quiet to himself—those seven years leading into high school in the Majin Buu arc—Gohan would finally have time to figure out who she is as a person, especially when making two female friends in high school in both Videl and Erasa. Both girls were two different types of women, so interacting with them and figuring out how Gohan relates to them in comparison to how he had to try and fit in with his dad, then Piccolo and Kuririn really sets up a lot of groundwork for an interesting high school arc.
That would make a fun fan fic to read. I think using the Dragon Balls would be the ideal choice to transition as Shenlong would give you a body of a cis person. Unless Shenlong can't do that.

I was rewatching parts of Dragon Ball Super: Broly earlier and it really struck me how much of a tonal whiplash there was when Goku begins fighting Broly. Like, we just had this tragic moment of Broly being lost to his power and then suddenly...we had that fuckass track with the chanting announcer. Such a decision would only work if Broly was slowly coming to his senses for the first time mid-battle as a result of fighting Goku—but this doesn't happen. At all. The character work is just completely gone, largely thanks to the script and music selection.

If Myuu was able to create a machine muntant like Rilld into someone stronger than Buu, why didn't have him take out Freeza's Empire. Myuu turn him into a machine mutant around the time when Goku won the 23rd Tenkachi Budokai. He could have easily taken over the galaxy and had more resoruces to restore Bebi.

Perhaps it took Myuu a while to improve the technology to that level. Dr Gero was eventually capable of building androids and cyborgs with the power to rival a Super Saiyan, but it took him about 10~15 years to get there.

I think Rilld became stronger than Buu by training and learning how to combine his metal powers on the planet. When Goku said "He is stronger then Majin Boo", he was probably talking about his metal form. As Goku did said that he was holding back when fighting him.

I wonder which Z-Fighter has faced Goku the most?

Yamcha: Twice in the Pilaf arc, then a 3rd if you count the Oozaru battle. Fights Goku in DB Movie 1 and 4, but those were recreation of the Pilaf arc fights.

Piccolo: Only once, but you can add two more if you count the two King Piccolo battles.

Vegeta: Twice in the manga and once in the Super Hero films. There's also the time Ginyu used Goku's body to fight Vegeta, and Baby used Vegeta's body to fight Goku - personally wouldn't count those though.

Tenshinhan: twice. As a kid and as a teenager. There is a third time in DBS I think. Wait, there are two in DBS: when they go to his dojo and when they fight 2 vs 2.

Krilin: twice. As a kid and in DBS. And a third time in GT but it's a different continuity.

Buu: at least 4 times. He fought him as Fat Buu, as Super Buu (inside), and Buuhan and as Kid Buu, and then as Fit Buu.

I guess there's just the technicality on wherever Fat Buu, Super Buu and Kid Buu are different characters or not.

They definitely maybe are kinda the same characters and also possibly are not, without question.

Hmm, lots of meetings between international and Japanese Dragon Ball artists lately...

Panos Tsaparas will share the stage with Hiroki Takahashi, the legendary Japanese singer behind “Makafushigi Adventure!”, the original Japanese opening theme of Dragon Ball. The Greek and Japanese voices behind this beloved song will come together live for a truly special celebration of the series, its music and the generations of fans who grew up with it.

Do you guys think Granolah went to Heaven or Hell after he died?

Honestly, if Saiyan arc Piccolo was good enough to get into heaven, then it can't be that hard. You have to be a real piece of shit to actually go to hell.

A better question is why does he have such an unfortunate name?
We need a Steve Simmons' re-translation of the manga.

Well, to start, Granolah hasn't died yet, but eventually, I don't see why he would go to hell... he went nuts for a few hours but never really did anything worthy of hell, IIRC. He never killed anybody, he tried to kill two saiyans but failed, and spent most of his life being decent to the other people living on his planet. I can't remember if at the beginning of the arc he offed those goons, if his life is filled with those type of crimes, I can see him having a hard time getting into heaven, but then again he whined about the way of the saiyans all day long so I doubt he was so hypocritical.

Whatever bad things he did or tried to do, he redeemed himself later on.

Four times, then. He leaves Earth with Vegeta and they fight, possibly even dying together.

I'd love to see the final Goku vs Vegeta battle (along with what leads up to it) from DBO's year 801, but so much time has passed since I first found out about it there's no way if animated it would live up to the expectations I have for it. Like I can picture it being on the level of some of the animation from the dbs Broly movie, but worry in reality it would be more like regular weekly dbs.

And yet I would still be incredibly excited if it was ever brought to screen and hit at least some of the notes. (Goku recognizes an issue with his own health, convinces Vegeta they should secretly run away together so they can fight to the death before this health issue takes him and tells no one else about the plan! It's so irresponsible, but it's so intriguing!)

Even oldish, semi-jaded me is still here for the tragemance of the supernova-inducing final Goku and Vegeta battle.
On hiatus.
