Some fans (including myself) thought it would get acknowledged as a result of there being new scenes and lines of dialogue, as well as Toriyama being so involved with Daima's development. No one expected to see Ssj4 Goku, but we thought a line or two would mention their adventure in the demon realm.Luso Saiyan wrote: Thu Sep 03, 2026 11:09 amWhy would Daima be acknowledged when this is a remaster of a 10 year old series? The Dark Knight wrote: Thu Sep 03, 2026 10:58 am Kibito was seen in the trailer, so Daima is indeed being ignored.

Looks good, but it won't be difficult to surpass the first 3 arcs. The bar is pretty low. The real test will be Future Trunks and ToP, who look generally good aside from a few lacking episodes here and there (same as Z and GT).
I'm happy they're keeping Yamamuro. I love his artwork.

Akira Toriyama, DBS vol.4 joint interview with ToyotaroAt his core Zamasu is good like Shin, though I guess you could say he was so fastidious that it backfired. But you know, for this "Future Trunks Arc" you had to depict Zamasu and Trunks' inner conflict, right? If this was back when I was drawing the manga myself then I doubt if I could have done it. I mean, I'm not very good at depicting the characters' psychology on the page. So this all came together because now I only have to think up the story. [...] On my own, I doubt I would have been able to express Zamasu's fall to the dark side.

It's Dragon Ball, so inconsistencies doesn't ultimately amount to much. I wouldn't rule out including Super Saiyan 4 for funsies at some point but I also doubt that it's a major concern to them to explain anything. Daima will be treated alongside Super because Toriyama was heavily involved in both.

We already know Daima and Super exist in the same continuity - or at least that's the intention - because Gowasu and othe Gods from the ToP appear in a Daima flashback. This just sounds redundant. What Super needs is LESS useless dialogue, not more. The Dark Knight wrote: Thu Sep 03, 2026 11:14 amSome fans (including myself) thought it would get acknowledged as a result of there being new scenes and lines of dialogue, as well as Toriyama being so involved with Daima's development. Daima is supposed to be set before Battle of Gods, yet Shin and Kibito are still fused in this version of Super. Considering the number of new scenes being drawn for this remaster, they would've had them be separated if Daima was taken into account. With that said, I personally don't need Daima to be in the same continuity as Super, as Super isn't lacking in terms of content.

Remasters generally don't alter the story or introduce new stuff. The real question will be what happens in new stories and if these new stories will acknowledge SSJ4.The Dark Knight wrote: Thu Sep 03, 2026 11:46 amSupremeKai25 wrote: Thu Sep 03, 2026 11:26 amWe already know Daima and Super exist in the same continuity - or at least that's the intention - because Gowasu and othe Gods from the ToP appear in a Daima flashback. For example, Toyotaro could make SSJ5 canon by combining SSJ4 with Ultra Instinct in a new story. But that's a matter for the future, when the manga returns...

We are getting SsjG in Resurrection F, so anything is possible. Speaking of, I wonder if Vegeta will also go through SsjG as he powers up to Blue against Freeza.SupremeKai25 wrote: Thu Sep 03, 2026 11:56 amRemasters generally don't alter the story or introduce new stuff.

The stories that Toriyama created for Super and Daima were made to be in continuity with each other and his own works. When those stories are adapted, details will change due to the nature of interpretation, but that doesn't mean the continuity is different. The Dark Knight wrote: Thu Sep 03, 2026 11:46 amDaima is supposed to be set before Battle of Gods, yet Shin and Kibito are still fused in this version of Super. Even Toriyama's character designs for Battle of Gods had Shin and Kibito defused from the start.

Just because Gowasu and the other Gods appeared in Daima, that doesn't mean that Daima and Super (original) are in the same continuity. Here are the contradictions if people says that are in the same continuity:SupremeKai25 wrote: Thu Sep 03, 2026 11:26 amWe already know Daima and Super exist in the same continuity - or at least that's the intention - because Gowasu and othe Gods from the ToP appear in a Daima flashback. Why would Daima be acknowledged when this is a remaster of a 10 year old series?
- Kibitokai still fused in DBS, despite using Fat Buu to separate in Daima
- Vegeta doesn't have SSJ3 and Goku doesn't have SSJ4 in DBS
- Daima Goku and Vegeta knows about other universe existing, while in DBS Goku and Vegeta doesn't know about the other universe until Whis and Vados tells them about it.
- DBS Bulma uses the Dragon Balls and Dr Hedo to make herself look young, while in Daima Bulma bought a lot of Beaut Bugs which each of them makes Bulma look 10 years younger.

Good to see SSB will will have the blue tone from DBS Broly. That's the best the form ever looked.
As for Nozawa she's 89 years old and they are just delaying the inevitable. Sooner or later, Goku will have to have a new voice actor and Daima was a good chance to test the waters, like they did with the rest of main cast.

Kai would've been the ideal place, as that was, alongside the 2008 special, the beginning of the modern era of Dragon Ball. GT's final episode should've been her and the other cast members' swan song.FortuneSSJ wrote: Thu Sep 03, 2026 12:41 pmSooner or later, Goku will have to have a new voice actor and Daima was a good chance to test the waters, like they did with the rest of main cast.

Honestly, I have zero expectations and will just watch out of curiosity, as I am not that invested in this old story being remade for the third time.
But I have to say that I already hate the opening theme, being washed up pop rock. The OG Super openings were great, the first one had edge and I did like the grungy sound.
I even liked the Daima opening quite a lot.
I kinda had a secret wish, that they might amp it up with return of Kageyama (instead of wasting him just on video game), but nah… let’s go with mediocre meh.

They should have recast everyone for Kai, not just the smaller characters like Nappa and Freeza's men. If the series had been constructed with original animation and not just mostly reusing stuff from older series then that would have made even more sense.

The Champa tournament arena is still exactly the same as in the old anime...MCDaveG wrote: Thu Sep 03, 2026 5:20 am I wonder, will they update the Universe 6 with more characters in attendance and new designs for the tournament stage?
For me to consider it a complete return, it would need the return of the manga too, but the time for that is ending. It would officially mean that the manga and anime will be switching roles. The anime stopped while the manga continued, now the manga stopped while the anime will (kind of) continue. And one continued with new stories but stopped shortly after the retelling of a movie, while the other one is returning but with the story restarting from the beginning. To stop in a arc and later continue with a newly adapted one. Lmao, what a damn of a confusion Super becameKoitsukai wrote: Thu Sep 03, 2026 7:43 am After so many years, almost a decade, of thinking and hearing the anime is dead, we are now a month away from its return. Sadly, we have to go over the entire thing from the beginning, but still, there's weekly Dragon Ball again.
I agree, I'm one who personally would sacrifice getting the Moro arc animated prior to 2028 or even 2029 just to see this anime actually being a remake done from scratch. Or at the very least, Zamasu and ToP arcs also right after the Champa arc.JulieYBM wrote: Thu Sep 03, 2026 8:23 am You can really tell that the project isn't a big priority given that it wasn't allowed a dedicated staff to simply redo it from scratch. I think that that's probably the worst part of the entire experience—it shows that any improvements will always be limited and not the best that they can be.
I'm someone who already knows the story, and I think the idea of not covering that two arcs before Moro sucks, imagine for those who are having the experience with Super for the first time, having to switch to the old anime with worse visuals, animation and slower pacing
Those two arcs in my view, the Zamasu arc had the colors which were really bad both in the present and future, so they could easily improve that with the filters. As for the ToP, where I think the colors finally get pleasing for the eyes, they would need to remove / replace the many reused animations, which are a lot.SupremeKai25 wrote: Thu Sep 03, 2026 11:19 am Looks good, but it won't be difficult to surpass the first 3 arcs. For me to love this remake, aside from trying to match the manga, which won't be done, it would also need to change the colors of the characters. Have Freeza's 1st form have the same colors he had in the manga, which were used in DBS Broly. Have Kid Trunks with blue hair just like Toriyama intended. Piccolo with red wristband, yellow parts in his arms, Kuririn with the white parts in his eyes just like Super Hero did. The orange of Goku's gi being closer to Yellow instead of Red, etc.
But I do like how the colors look so far, my biggest problem with the original Super anime visuals aside from poorly animated sequences wasn't even the Yamamuro art style, which for me is fine, what I dislike are the colors, terrible in my opinion, only getting better in the ToP. So seeing more pleasing colors since the Beerus arc already makes a good difference, seem like a improved version of the SDBH anime, by also having SSJB share the same darker colors and aura design from DBS Broly.

I wonder if the final episode of the Champa arc will include a teaser to the Zamasu arc; an after credits scene like what we got in Daima. If I had to guess, I'd say the next few years will look something like this:
2026-2027: Beerus.
2027-2028: Moro.
2028-2029: Zamasu and Jiren.
2029-2030: Granola.
2030-2031: Broly and Superhero.
After that it's unknown territory.

Aw man, Champa’s tournament not going to be upgraded is a huge letdown. More so that I still consider the original Battle Of Gods the superior version, than this being just poorly scripted show to begin with, with more polished visuals and animation.
But I am going to watch it with a benefit of a doubt and I guess there will be quality of life changes. But man, still bitter about the music. At least Sumitomo might come up with some interesting progress and newfound coherence.
I did like his music from Zamasu arc forwards, Goku Black theme is great! Hope he is building on what came before

If that SSG shot was indeed a change to the "F" arc, I'm curious to see if this follows suit with the manga and undoes the movies' God-power absorption that all later Super content seems to have ignored. I was kind of hoping this would give us the unseen "manga 'F'" storyline, and...it might?
You still have the base Goku vs. Freeza clips, but animated Dragon Ball has always been wonky with early base-form sparing rounds.
Notably I don't think there were any scenes of Super Saiyan Goku vs. Beerus this time? Is it possible they did away with all of them in favor of ending the fight in SSG a la the manga?

Yeah I think that people are setting themselves up for disappointment if they honestly think this “remaster” is going to heavily change the story to match that of the manga. If that were the case, it would absolutely have been teased in some of these trailers by now.
What these seems more like is “well we need to give them something while we work on the Moro arc…just re-release Super, I guess”
