There wouldn't be any room for him to bulk up later in a fashion similar to how Son Goku gradually bulks up throughout the series.
The truth. Yeah, that's how I've seen it. As many problems as I have with this film's "Goku" (and I have many), the fact he doesn't look like a professional wrestler is not one of them.

What I'd like to know is how the battle strength of these characters will be portrayed in both this film and others. If we are to believe they are trying to be more realistic...oh God, I hope that doesn't mean we won't see the more 'outlandish' displays of power...

With the right training routine and appropriate diet, anybody could acquire an incredible mass increase. With a body like Chatwin's he could reach a solid 180 - 200 lbs if he wanted to.

Genetics aren't necessarily going to hold him back, his frame of mind would be the cause of that.

Very true. However, by the time Goku tries out Kaioken x 4 he looks as if he could be upward to 300lbs. of muscle. What I'm getting at is that, at most, we're probably going to end up with a bulk that looks similar to Christian Bale in Batman Begins.

I agree, actors will go pretty far to get ready for roles in movies, but I don't think Chatwin would become a professional body builder to look the part for Goku.

Looking at Chatwin, the type of build he's got is more typical of an actual martial artist. One of the teachers at the place I take lessons has been doing it for about 15 years, and he isn't much more "bulky" than that. It's a different kind of muscular. A more lean musculature than an overly huge one like pro wrestlers or bodybuilders.

When he plays a Super Saiyan, capable of splitting mountains in half with his finger, then yeah, that's a different story. Use CGI or whatever and bulk him up. For a DragonBall movie, with him as a teenager, he's fine as he is.

Chatwin's size is of no concern as of now atleast imo. I can say that it should be mandatory for him to bulk up a fair amount for sequels (if there should be any.) at the very least. Bulking up to a size like Christian Bale for Chatwin wouldn't be impossible, but I don't see the guy having as much willpower or dedication, and it wouldn't be necessary.

Just a few personal preferences really.

Well Chatwin DID train for months. Does that count as dedication and/or willpower???

By all means, that was a pretty unfair opinion of mine directed against Chatwin.

I was actually veering towards the fact that the level of discipline in diet, and training Christian Bale went through is a whole of a hell lot different than what Chatwin went through. My personal opinion on what total dedication and willpower is quite strict; I guess you could say that Chatwin's lack of emotions in previous promotional pictures for the film is really steering me towards underestimating the fellow?

I'm at a loss of words...or a loss for words. Yes, Bale went through way more than Chatwin. I see what you mean. :?

Meh. Chatwin's build is perfect for 'starting out Goku'. He can bulk up more for later films and they can do prosthetics and CGI for the bigger musscles.

<Xyex> Original Freeza never sounded like a chick to me.
<Kaboom> Neither does Rita
<Xyex> Good point.

Yeah. There's no point in making Chatwin look like he's about to rip Freeza a new one for this movie. Otherwise we'd have to call it something like 「ドラゴンボール:スウーパサイヤ人ですか?!孫悟空は地球の超人です!!」 or something equally ridiculous in reference to the fact that this movie is drawing from the beginning of Dragonball through the Piccolo Daimao arc.

Translation: "Dragonball: He's a Super Saiyan?! Son Goku is the Earth's superhero!!"

This by the way is a picture of Goku at age Eighteen. He's so scrawny he's practically a skeleton!

Compared to this, he sure is.

What is this sarcasm you speak of? How long has it been since they released it? Can you take it in pill form, smoke it, drink it, or what? Why should I care?

I haven't seen the so called "trailer" yet, but I am still looking to put up some new stuff and maybe blog news. So we have a lot of stuff coming up and yeah, that is that. Saw some production pics, but I am too tired now to find them again. My blog will have somthing other than drugs and drug money real soon. Yeah, right.
