The TV Anime Series Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be broadcast on Fuji TV in the fall of 2026

If they're so bold as to add new lines of dialogue, they could simply build up to Freeza's arc in the Tournament of Power better now with foresight. As much as I love the hilarity of Goku jumping out from the side and killing Freeza unexpectedly, I think Goku and Vegeta doing a two-person combo to defeat Freeza would hit a lot harder in the context of how he and Goku would later team up to help No. 17 defeat Jiren.

But the scenes of that extended cut don't even add anything to connect those stories. It's just Mirai Trunks doing a recap of the original Freeza arc. It only serves as a prologue for the Zamasu arc itself, as it has Trunks helping to get fuel for the Time Machine and Bulma planning to sent him back in time before the beginning of the arc we see in the actual anime. (I think those scenes at least show how the Zamasu arc will be looking in the remake)
Good way to connect the Zamasu arc to the previous ones would I think would be Zamasu and Gowasu already showing up earlier as well, maybe in the Champa arc, watching Goku vs Hit. But given how this first part of the remake is not even going to include the Zamasu arc I don't even expect it's going to do that, except maybe for a final scene or post credit scene. Which would be really weird if they are going to release the Moro arc right after it (if they really plan to do that, I hope not)

Re: The TV Anime Series Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be broadcast on Fuji TV in the fall of 2026
Yeah I think the Golden Freeza arc pays off in long term, it's not only because Freeza and his new transformation are brought back later in ToP and Broly, but also because that arc starts building up on Freeza's new development, which is him deciding to train in order to become stronger, which was further explored with the Granola arc. And if he really plans to fight or kill Beerus like many theorize, it would only further connect it to the overall Super narrative as it was where we see Freeza interacting with Beerus for the first time.
Then there are the new concepts, exploring more the idea of god ki, with SSJB new poeer ups that Goku and Vegeta get that would later be very important for posterior Super arcs, and it even subtly starts working on the concept of Ultra Instinct.
So for all those ideas I at least forgive that arc / movie for cheaply recycling stuff from the original Freeza arc. It's a lot better than Super Hero in my opinion, which introduced new characters that I highly doubt will be relevant again, and new transformations for Piccolo and Gohan with absolutely no explanation or background beind them, nor they connect to the new concepts of powers that Super develops. And the manga adaptation did nothing to expand it. Bringing back the Red Ribbon army once again is completely useless for the larger Super story in comparison to bringing back Freeza. But I may be being too harsh with it too early as it was the latest arc in the series and we don't know much it will payoff in the future, but compared to Fukkatsu no F / Golden Freeza arc so far I think it's very lacking, it's the worst nostalgia bait, no wonder it's my least favorite story in Super.

He doesn't say "and". That's an interpretation of the sentence, but not exactly what he said.angeldreamZ004 wrote: Sun Sep 06, 2026 12:45 amWhat the translation actually says is “Becomes a SSJ like Goku, and a SSJ of a color slightly different from Goku's.”
What he said literally is "“Becomes a Super Saiyan like Goku, a Super Saiyan of a color slightly different from Goku."
The second part is an expansion/clarification of the first part. The point he's making is that he can transform into a Super Saiyan like Goku, and when he does, it's a different color from Goku's. SSGSS is Goku becoming a Super Saiyan as well.
Re: The TV Anime Series Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be broadcast on Fuji TV in the fall of 2026
I'm keeping my expectations in check, but the simple effort of doing new, simple cuts just for better stringing the episodes together is definitely something that I'm hyped about. It's funny, because I don't really feel like the 2015 series is disconnected in that respect, either. The one-off episodes do a good just of transitioning us through the periods before the big story arcs really well. I rewatched Dragon Ball Super (2015) Episode #28 last night and was really impressed by how it functions, because you do get the sense that it's post-Golden Freeza and the characters are just back to their lives, moving forward. While I'd have liked more time to see with feelings, it's not entirely forgotten and we're already setting up the dynamic between Beerus and Champa really well in that episode.
I'm going to be really interested in seeing how the first two or three episodes of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus handle the set-up for the series. IF we are getting storylines intercut together, then are we going to cut from Beerus learning that Freeza is dead to a scene of Sorbet dealing with the collapsing Freeza empire and wanting to find a way to revive Freeza? Will we see a scene of Champa and Vados learning that that cantankerous Beerus has finally woken up? Or Champa discovering the Super Dragon Balls exist?

angeldreamZ004 wrote: Sun Sep 06, 2026 12:45 amWhich is also why I believe the Beerus arc in the anime had Beyond God, the arc was finished before they could see what was being done in the manga, so they had no way to see that the Manga would not adopt that concept. It's where the incosistence enters, because they later ditched the concept as the anime progressed in order to match it with the manga, where the rule is Goku and Vegeta not being able to use god ki outside of the god transformations.
What the translation actually says is “Becomes a SSJ like Goku, and a SSJ of a color slightly different from Goku's.”
The implication that the correct interpretation is giving him SSJ1 and Rosé coming from this, unless it's indeed referring to the same single form with the extra descripton of a different hair color. But in this context I don't think “and a” can be interpreted as “which is a”, it doesn't specificy the first is yellow, but it says it's like Goku, and then says a SSJ that is different.
But then what about the Beerus arc? I really don't agree that they are correcting it, what they are doing is what they already did with the ToP in the old anime, but this time it's earlier. SSJ1 Goku with SSJG power absorbed when fighting Beerus is where Beyond God is introduced, as back then in the 2013 movie, it's said that Goku wouldn't need to use SSJG anymore, but he uses it to destroy Beerus’ hakaidama, which is not seen in the anime and is what led to many believe that there would no longer be SSJG in the anime anymore. And the anime didn't even have Base form Goku doing to Final Form Freeza what he did in the 2015 movie, which seems to be repeating in the remake.
So correcting it for the Freeza arc but keep the inconsistence with the Beerus arc? I don't get that decision.
So correcting it in my view would be having SSJG until the end of the fight with Beerus, it would make this new anime in full sync with the manga which is where Beyond God never existed. So I hope they prepared a good explanation for it.I mistakenly wrote “ever state” instead of "never stated” in my post, was referring to the people who thought that Goku might have lost access to the red god form in the anime prior to the ToP.In neither versions of the story (movie / promotional manga / anime) he tells Freeza that he doesn't need to transform because of god ki, he gives no explanation (maybe what you meant is that it's you explaining it, but the lack of commas makes it look like you wrote that Goku was the one who said it)Spoiler:
In the movie Goku outmatches Final Form Freeza, but not in the anime, with my theory being that in the movie he's stronger than him thanks to the god ki (Beyond God).
In the anime however he has only gotten stronger in his base form, and lacks god ki when fighting FF Freeza, that's why he couldn't even surpass him like he did in the movie and the promotional manga (which explores his base form being equal to SSJG). His base form in the anime is equal to FF Freeza.
The explanation in-universe, at least in my view, being through visuals.
The Beyond God state in the movie is represented with a special aura with density and yellowish glow, Goku has it throughout the entire fight while clearly showing to be superior to FF Freeza before SSJB and Golden Freeza moment. In the anime Goku only appears with a generic white ki aura, lacking the yellowish glow and density (the background is still very visible), showing that he's not using god ki, and most of the fight actually he doesn't even appear with an aura, just like Freeza (in the movie, except for a part where everything goes light blue, only Freeza appears lacking an aura in parts of the fight)Spoiler:The manga has no colors, but Goku's base form always appears with the aura around him, including when he fires the Kamehameha, which is not common.Spoiler:Then there's the official explanation for it.Spoiler:Like I said before, the anime does a silent retcon, but so does the manga as it's never explained by Toriyama, Toyotaro or Toei that Beyond God was ditched. We can only assume the retcon happened because the Super manga never adopted the concept, always having Goku and Vegeta transforming when they use god ki.Spoiler:
Then the anime had a normal Base Goku fighting Freeza, then SSJG returning in the ToP.I see this moment as being simply an example of Goku and Vegeta becoming stronger in their base forms, without any god ki at all, to the point where Normal Base Vegeta is enough to beat SSJ3 Gotenks, who we know hasn't gotten any stronger since the Boo arc (maybe he even got weaker)Spoiler:
In the manga, where the Beyond God concept is clearly nonexistent, we do see that, as SSJ1 Vegeta is stronger than SSJ1 Goku black for a moment, the same who in base form, outmatched SSJ2 Mirai Trunks, who forced Goku to use SSJ3 when training.
All that said, I know that what you were trying to say is that both concepts of transformations and using the god ki coexist, especially if we go by the movies, where Goku is seen using God Ki in his base and SSJ forms, then combining it to full extent with SSJ to create SSJB, then still having access to SSJG transformation as shown when he destroys Beerus’ Hakaidama, and all of it originating from Toriyama creation.
But what I'm trying to do is more of an analysis of how these ideas were worked through time. I think what you said does work for the two movies and the Beerus arc in the anime only. The anime didn't proceed with it, and the manga never used it, as it was clearly always about having to transform in order to use god ki, that's why Goku uses SSJG until the end of his fight against Beerus, and using God Ki outside of transformation is never mentioned again. The two ultimately erase one of the concepts Toriyama created. And he may have been involved in those decisions, we'll never know.actually Toyotaro admitted that the full red haired god state returning and it being given to Vegeta in the manga was his addition Toriyama oversaw not some grand elaborate corporate merch arrangement. While they’re now old TV anime double down on divine energy infused base form by changing the ending to BOG having in that state Goku neutralize the hakaidama in a single spirited punch. Then it continued to portray recurrently on and off again black haired Saiyans (goku post BOG, Vegeta during and post whis training and including Goku black) as being not that far removed in power from and directly leading into ssgss and engaging with divine energy. with the first whis training episode, episode 18 opening with black haired Vegeta sensing whis’s arrival return through divine energyand Goku remarking vegeta’s aura feeling completely different so toei was quite committed to it until the tournament of power Toyotaro was what made things shift gears by going in a different direction. But the remakester is mostly going to display Toriyama’s view of the story characters and world so probably going and the trailers look like it’s going to have both occurrences coexisting like the movies
Me too, I have the feeling that at least Beyond God might remain as a plot hole.MCDaveG wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2026 1:35 pm I’ll just say this! If they don’t resolve plotholes or missing bits like Pilaf gang being kids again, I am done with it![]()
I think it's pretty much already confirmed given how it's all called Beerus and a "reconstructed narrative".
Champa and Vados showing up earlier? I would not be surprised, as they would be repeating what the manga already did.
The two appear for the first time in the Beerus arc, and despite the manga lacking the Golden Freeza arc, the Beerus arc ends with Champa destroying a spaceship with Freeza soldiers who were looking for the Super Dragon Balls. That situation being what convinces Sorbet to revive Freeza.
So I don't doubt the remake will be doing the same thing.
The old anime already had Champa and Vados showing up in the Golden Freeza arc.

Re: The TV Anime Series Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be broadcast on Fuji TV in the fall of 2026
It's what written in the translation, I don't think that is a interpretation, that's why I said there's the implication of it being two forms, like you said in a previous post, it's not specified, with the interpretations being what we saw in the anime and manga, with both being valid. It first says that it's a form just like the one Goku uses, and then says about one that is different in hair color, either the same or separate, being like Goku not having to be described in regards to the hair color because it can be interpreted as the regular yellow SSJ.
It's only said that it was Toyotaro's idea to have Vegeta using Red SSJG, I couldn't find any comment in relation to Goku, that doesn't mean it was his idea to keep Red SSJG around as it did in the Champa arc for example, it could've been Toriyama's idea, but we don't know. I do agree though that Toriyama viewed both concepts coexisting, at least for the two movies, if he still viewed it that way later on in the series, I have no idea.
For the dialogue in the anime, I don't think it means Beyond God is still there, or else, then the retcon happened later into the same arc because no such comments are made after that. Super had different writers for each episode which may have resulted in the confusion and contradictions as well, messing up with the power scaling shown in Base Goku vs Final Form Freeza, I can't see other explanation for it being so different from the movie, where Base Goku was clearly superior to Final Form Freeza and always has a unique aura, and the anime ends up with him being equal, lacking an aura for most of the fight. Also being a weird decision to not having SSJG Goku not showing up again to destroy Beerus' hakaidama, which maybe was Toei's decision because they thought SSJG would not be showing up again, so they decided to omit that.
With the rest I agree, but we'll have to wait to see how the remake will work with it.
I think if they just replicate what the manga did will already be good enough, they would mix with what the old anime already did, it had Beerus interacting with Champa in the Freeza arc. The problem would be the Zamasu arc, as that arc is going to be left out from this first part of the remake, and there was no foreshadowing for that arc neither in the anime and the manga (Toriyama already had it and seemingly even Fused Zamasu planned when the Champa arc was still ending in the anime though, so we don't know if it was done on purpose, or he couldn't do it due to time constraints)
The ToP won't need that I believe as we are already prepared for it since the Champa arc, and the Zamasu arc also mentions it. So at least for the Zamasu arc they'lll have to be somehow creative.

then evolving into SSGSS once it surpasses the limit of the full red haired god state
one facilitates the other, it’s just that the anime leaned one way in emphasis while having Goku and Vegeta do the entire divine energy control training with Whis as black haired “base” saiyans refusing to transform until that gained that control and mastery of divine power

Re: The TV Anime Series Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be broadcast on Fuji TV in the fall of 2026
Toriyama's notes about Goku Black's forms don't mention the use of god ki, so I take that as being Toyotaro's interpretation of it, which could be what Toriyama actually intended and Toei went in slightly different direction, though still the same in the end.
When Goku Black sees SSJB for the first in the anime he says it's how mortals look when using power of the gods.
With the rest I agree, but again, the DBS anime had different writers for each episode, which I think could very well be the reason why such confusion and contradictions not only in power scaling, but also in concepts happened, so sometimes you will see the concept of beyond god only, then Toyotaro's concept from the manga, then the two coexisting like it was in the movies.
Episode 24 of the anime which was my basis, has Gohan straight up saying that both Goku and Freeza (base form and final form, when Goku had the aura around him) had a incredible ki, which makes no sense if Goku was using god ki and could not be sensed. So it's all wacky, so I think after that, they decided to simplify it. That's why golden SSJ1 returns in the next arc, and they don't give Black golden SSJ1, then finally they decide to bring back SSJG in the ToP. So i see the change as being procedural from Toei's side, though also with holes in the middle like in the examples you gave.
We'll have to see how the remake will develop it.

Not only "awesome", but useful as well, seeing as a full-blown remake, while rewriting stuff, would be the only way that would legitimately justify this "Dragon Ball Super Beerus" existence.
But from all the looks of it, it's just the 2015 version but shinier (and watch them not mentioning Tarble again...).

I wonder if they're going to follow Daima's lead and same-day stream on Disney Plus etc.
The wait times were strange some weeks in Daima, but it was convenient.

Considering the Tarble special isn't legally accessible, as well as the fact they clearly have no interest in using the character again, it will be for the best if he's not mentioned. There's no reason people should have to jump through different mediums to get the full story being told, much less medium people not in the know have access to.Grimlock wrote: Mon Sep 07, 2026 10:09 amBut from all the looks of it, it's just the 2015 version but shinier (and watch them not mentioning Tarble again...).

A series like Dragon Ball—being aimed at kids—isn't going to really need for every kid to need to watch every series or project. The 2008 special being mentioned or not is no different than any episode of, say, Dragon Ball Kai. Heck, the 2008 special is no different than the pre-Saiyan arc material is because neither is going to be what the Dragon Ball Kai generation came up on.

I hope they do. Hulu worked fine for me with Daima. There were only a few episodes where it showed up later in the day than usual.M16U3L2015 wrote: Mon Sep 07, 2026 2:47 pmI think so, Toei's recent animes are simulcast on the same day, so I hope that will be the case with Beerus as well.Chuquita wrote: Mon Sep 07, 2026 1:01 pm I wonder if they're going to follow Daima's lead and same-day stream on Disney Plus etc.
The wait times were strange some weeks in Daima, but it was convenient.
I wonder if it will be available on as many streaming services as Daima was; if I remember correctly, Daima streaming was on Crunchyroll, Netflix (with one week delay) and Hulu during its premiere.
For my timezone it would probably appear Sunday afternoon. I liked Super's Saturday evenings better because it gave me the whole weekend, but I can work with it.
On hiatus.

Eh, one just needs access to Internet to watch the OVA or read the manga. So that's not really an issue. Then again, and to be honest with you again, I don't care whether people have access to something or not. Tarble was mentioned in the movies, so he should be mentioned in any and all adaptations and retellings of those movies (and if he can appear again at some point, all the better). Too bad for people who don't have access to Internet. And people that do have it but do not want to "jump to a different medium", then it's their problem. The Dark Knight wrote: Mon Sep 07, 2026 1:10 pmConsidering the Tarble special isn't legally accessible, as well as the fact they clearly have no interest in using the character again, it will be for the best if he's not mentioned. There's no reason people should have to jump through different mediums to get the full story being told, much less medium people not in the know have access to.

Minor correction, for what it's worth: Manga Black holding his own against Blue as a normal Super Saiyan is attributed to his being able to activate additional Saiyan recovery power-ups, not God ki.Shiningboltsurge wrote: Sun Sep 06, 2026 3:04 pm Also in Toriyama’s notes and then inherited by toyotaro’s own manga Goku black (Zamasu) is depicted as a golden haired SSJ1 infused with divine energy holding his own against god forms

Yeah I guess this was Toriyama's mindset. Removing the mention to Tarble in the anime being solely Toei's doing (i doubt Toyotaro intended to ignore him back then as the SSJG ritual being summarized in the manga had no space for him to be mentioned, and he would later be included in the recent art). Toriyama whatsoever had no issue in referencing the character in the 2013 and 2018 movies, and apparently was also no issue for him that some of his characters were stuck in a certain media that the traditional line of animations didn't cover, such as Jaco and Tights, who casually appear in Fukkatsu no F and the U6 arc as if everyone had read the Jaco manga and were already used to those characters. Something I highly doubt as I'm pretty sure the Jaco manga didn't get that popular outside of the DBMinus chapter which got partially adapted in DBS Broly.
It worked as some kind of Toriyama verse after all, where everything had the same "status" for him regardless of the media, as we see with the projects we was closer to, such as Daima which casually had references to Super and also Minus Bardock as well. It was his view. Now, with Toei I think it's different, I'm pretty sure they'll be omitting the mention to Tarble again in this remake. Jaco will continue because it's impossible to remove him from the 3 (maybe 4) DBS stories he was involved, and maybe Tights will still appear as well as she also showing up in the manga version of the Champa arc suggests that her scene was part of Toriyama's outlines for the arc.
