The TV Anime Series Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be broadcast on Fuji TV in the fall of 2026
Re: The TV Anime Series Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be broadcast on Fuji TV in the fall of 2026
Opening looked really good. Unfortunately, that song is probably the most stock, boilerplate, uninspired opening this franchise has had since Kai. I guess it has more energy than Chozetsu Dynamic, which means it will probably function as a better insert song when Goku uses Kaio-ken against Hit.

Re: The TV Anime Series Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be broadcast on Fuji TV in the fall of 2026
I think the opening and song are really good, I think visually this is going to be a big win because my major issue with the original anime, at least prior to the ToP, is that I think the visuals just aren't good, and I'm not even talking about art style or animation, the animation I'm actually fine with it most of the time as I think it looked bad mostly in the Golden Freeza arc only, but Episode 5 itself for example to me wasn't as bad as people say, and there were times the characters looked ugly but I also really enjoy how varied the art style was in the show, as I really like the different animators / studio art styles approach from the 86 anime, Z, the first 10 movies, Super Broly and Daima more than the “Always stay on model” approach from the later 90s movies, GT (except for the Uchiyama supervised / Last House episodes), Heroes and the first two 2010's movies. So I would like to see this approach in the remake too and not just “perfect modern Yamamuro” style all the time, but I'm open to that as well.
My issue with the pre-ToP original anime was the poor aesthetic, with bland colors, making it boring visually most of the time to me, so the animation staff had to give their best to make what's on screen interesting and appealing (or did stuff like the whole VFX work during the SSJG transformation in episode 9) to help it feel less monotonous because the colors and lack of an aesthetic style just didn't help it.
So I feel I'll be able to call this a good looking anime like the ToP arc and Daima based on the opening and trailers.
My only nitpick will probably be that I would've preferred if they went with the (original) manga colors for the characters here, as I was really enjoying how starting from Broly they got closer and closer to the manga for the characters’ color palette, I'm someone who's really tired of seeing Goku with a red-ish orange gi, Piccolo with pink details in his muscles and a blue belt, Kuririn without the white parts in his eyes. Dammit, this could've been the opportunity to see pink 1st form Freeza in the Golden Freeza arc lol and obviously no Kid Trunks with his correct hair color (blue) lol, but this probably would've demanded a full remake, so I'll have to accept, at least I feel that they tried to make Goku's gi look a bit more yellow-ish.
It will depend on how selective they were, well they thought Goku's training from the manga was relevant enough to be added, which I'm not sure if everyone agrees with, I think it's going to be heavily criticized for this reason (+ stopping at the Champa arc) as each fan and part of the fandom have their own thoughts on what should've been more kept, added, changed and removed, but let's wait for more.

Spoiler:
If that's the case then it seems they threw a banana peel that they themselves slipped on, because they want to be more accurate to Toriyama's view but they don't want to, or probably can't use any footage from the movies in this, so they would need to redo that entirely, pretty much reanimating sequences from the movie like you said, but decided to use as basis the 2015 anime that already went in a different direction, while seemingly inserting stuff from Toyotaro (?) and in the end make it shorter more like the movie which was more accurate to Toriyama's view?taikufuru wrote: Fri Oct 09, 2026 9:18 am I mean, they could have simply recreated Beerus and Whis’s entire introduction as it appears in the movie. The issue isn't what the producers and animators wanted to do, but rather what fans assumed they were doing.angeldreamZ004 wrote: Sat Oct 10, 2026 1:07 amIf that's the case then it seems they threw a banana peel that they themselves slipped on, because they want to be more accurate to Toriyama's view but they don't want to, or probably can't use any footage from the movies in this, so they would need to redo that entirely, pretty much reanimating sequences from the movie like you said, but decided to use as basis the 2015 anime that already went in a different direction, while seemingly inserting stuff from Toyotaro (?) and in the end make it shorter more like the movie which was more accurate to Toriyama's view?taikufuru wrote: Fri Oct 09, 2026 9:18 am I mean, they could have simply recreated Beerus and Whis’s entire introduction as it appears in the movie. What the producers said: We are taking what we already have and are making it more faithful to Toriyama's vision.
What fans understood: They are remaking Super to be as faithful as possible to Toriyama's vision and Toyotaro's manga.
Re: The TV Anime Series Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be broadcast on Fuji TV in the fall of 2026
I think they should have done that too, especially with Kid Trunks' having blue hair from the get-go in the Super manga.angeldreamZ004 wrote: Sat Oct 10, 2026 1:07 am My only nitpick will probably be that I would've preferred if they went with the (original) manga colors for the characters here, as I was really enjoying how starting from Broly they got closer and closer to the manga for the characters’ color palette, I'm someone who's really tired of seeing Goku with a red-ish orange gi, Piccolo with pink details in his muscles and a blue belt, Kuririn without the white parts in his eyes. I don't know exactly how the production works, but I think they basically have access to the assets of every shot in this digital age (unlike when they did Kai and could only work with the finalized picture and had to fully reproduce it if there was something to change in the picture).
So if that's how it's done, when manipulating the assets of every shot, they could have easily tweaked colors applied to specific parts to be in line with the more manga-accurate colors shown by the time we arrive to Super Hero content. Including changing Piccolo's pink bits and making Krilin's eyes white.
I know they probably want the on-going products like current video games to still depict even this version of Super as being coherent with the games' content, but it would have been a good reason to put alternate costumes in the games that are just easy-to-produce palette swaps (you could have separate costumes to choose to have Kid Trunks with his purple or blue hair, Piccolo with his pink or beige bits, Kaio Shin with his Z/Super colors or with his Kanzenban/Daima colors, etc.).
So it's too bad that they shied away from correcting the few colors that needed to be corrected to have an on-going flow between the beginning of Super and the later arcs like Super Hero.
Creating brand new shots and brand new scenes to be closer to the manga sometimes must be more work than it would have taken to just pallette-correct Kid Trunks' hair to be closer to the manga AND more coherent with Future Trunks and even Kid Trunks himself a few arcs later.
But hey, I guess it's my only regret with this version, the rest will be absolute pleasure, but it's such a blatant missed opportunity. You would think when reuniting to think "now that we know what happens in later arcs, what can we correct with the earlier arcs?", one of the first answers would be "well, visually, we can adapt the few colors that we ended up correcting overtime so that they match the most recent, closer-to-the-DBS-manga updates from the beginning and so that it remains coherent all along the Super brand."
Re: The TV Anime Series Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be broadcast on Fuji TV in the fall of 2026
Well, I didn't say they would be 100% faithful to the story Toriyama wrote. I gave an example of what I think could be done as part of the reverse-engineering process they're undertaking. The Dark Knight wrote: Sat Oct 10, 2026 1:29 amThe issue isn't what the producers and animators wanted to do, but rather what fans assumed they were doing.angeldreamZ004 wrote: Sat Oct 10, 2026 1:07 amIf that's the case then it seems they threw a banana peel that they themselves slipped on, because they want to be more accurate to Toriyama's view but they don't want to, or probably can't use any footage from the movies in this, so they would need to redo that entirely, pretty much reanimating sequences from the movie like you said, but decided to use as basis the 2015 anime that already went in a different direction, while seemingly inserting stuff from Toyotaro (?) and in the end make it shorter more like the movie which was more accurate to Toriyama's view?taikufuru wrote: Fri Oct 09, 2026 9:18 am I mean, they could have simply recreated Beerus and Whis’s entire introduction as it appears in the movie. And yes, ever since news broke about THAT SCENE from the manga, people have come to believe they’re getting an animated adaptation of Toyotarō’s manga—which is absurd, not only because the first arc is only about 60 pages long and the second hasn't even been told, but also because the manga itself is inherently derived from the 2015 TV series.
For that matter, I don't want to give the impression that I care about Dragon Ball stories outside the original manga being faithful to Toriyama's ideas. I just want good stories. But it just so happens that it's very convenient for them not to commit to anything while the author's credits appear in huge letters on the screen.

I'm hoping this changes when we reach the Moro arc (please bring Shintani back).JulieYBM wrote: Fri Oct 09, 2026 1:08 am It's decent from what we can see so far. I'm sure the direct feed will be a lot better as an experience.
Still, this series is stuck with that fuck-ass Lego hair and it ruins the experience so much lol

So, this is just something I've been thinking about. I have NO idea why Netflix is getting this show a week later than Crunchyroll. I get that Crunchyroll probably wants to make some money off streaming the show, but a week? Really? That's just stupid. Daima was day & day on Netflix with Crunchyroll.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

So after this will we get the remake of future trunks, TOP etc??? Or will they start with Galactic Patrol?

No word on Future Trunks or TOP yet. It's likely we will to round out Beerus, but they're putting all their people behind Galactic Patrol right now, so after THAT'S done being produced is when we'd get word of anything else.FiReFTW wrote: Sun Oct 11, 2026 4:48 am So after this will we get the remake of future trunks, TOP etc??? The anime wont have any rerecording, at least in Japanese, it will use the original 2015 performances.

Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

Well that kinda kills it for me. This was a big part of what I think made Fishman Island flow as horrendously as it did. And uh... Does this "no rerecording" thing also apply for Kaio and the narrator? Are we going to hear audibly dying Yanami again? Because I genuinely think reusing that performance would be incredibly disrespectful to him.

This will severely limit what they can do creatively with this. Any hopes we had of seeing major improvements to Goku's characterization have just gone out the window.

Oh, no new recording? I wonder if that means we'll get plenty of new shots without any dialogue?
Re: The TV Anime Series Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be broadcast on Fuji TV in the fall of 2026
Could it be only for Beerus while others say something new? What about new Bulma, King Kai, Buu and Yamcha voices.
But still weird how the namesake of the series doesn't get new lines, wut.

No new voice lines, that godawful OP song. Considering how many times Toei has mentioned AI, I would not be surprised if it had a big influence on this Frankenstein's monster.
Re: The TV Anime Series Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be broadcast on Fuji TV in the fall of 2026
Megatera Zero got his big break doing song covers on the quick, so I'm curious how much his style influences his original work. Onogami is a decent song, but I don't know how well it works purely as an Opening because of how it's paced. It's going to be interesting to see how it's used as an insert song, if that happens at all.
I hope there are insert songs, too. I'd love another collaboration between Takanashi Yasuharu and Sho from Galneryus. Let It Burn from Dragon Ball Kai: The Final Chapters was amazing.
Bringing Demon Kakka's Elegy back for the Golden Freeza arc, to say nothing of Maximum the Hormone's F would also be really cool.
I wish the Dragon Ball cast was younger so that we could get more character songs. The original run of BLEACH had so many of the actors doing covers of their various songs, which was really cool. That's one of the most fun things about these long-running series.

How would reusing the Japanese dialogue from the original Super work? I guess this means they won't be cutting up the footage as much as Kai because otherwise the audio wouldn't sync up.
Do you have any info about international non-English broadcasts about the Dragon Ball anime or manga translations/editions? Please message me. Researching for a future book with Dragon Ball scholar Derek Padula will be writing

Re: The TV Anime Series Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be broadcast on Fuji TV in the fall of 2026
Heeeehhhe...
Like I said aside from the visuals which are probably going to be mostly praised, I'm pretty sure the rest of the content in this is going to be heavily criticized.
I already expected that a lot of the original version's voice work would be kept, but I didn't expect there would be 0 new voice lines, that's crazy to me, Kai had a entire new voice work and recast for some characters (the only excuse for it I think is that they wouldn't like to use audio from the 90s in a 2010s remaster)
I think this only further validates something I said a time ago in another thread, that this remaster was very likely only made to fill the gap between Daima and the Moro arc, they actually would've preferred to have the Moro arc starting this year already, but that would demand more time as they're now worried about delivering something that wasn't rushed in production, so they delayed it to like late 2027 and had to prepare something for late 2026 as they now maybe due to contractual reasons need a new Dragon Ball anime to start airing at the end of every year and ends at the beginning of the next year like how it was with Daima. So they're delivering a half-assed product to fill the gap.
That's why I think there's a huge possibility that we actually may never get the "enhanced editions" of the Zamasu and ToP arcs, because if these 3 arcs were only made to buy them time, then there will be no need to remaster the other 2 arcs as once the Moro arc starts they can simply proceed in adapting the rest of that arc / continue into Granolla.
To me it's very unlikely that this is not the case, or else they would've given a better treatment to this, have even more new scenes, have new voice lines, not announce the Moro arc right away because after these first 3 arcs, their priority would be the other 2. But I think everything is indicating that they indeed only did this to say that they have a new Dragon Ball anime for the "late 2026 - early 2027" period.
Well I'm hope wrong, but the lack of new dialogue is already big enough of a red alert to me.

Well, except for Kaio who would definitely need a replacement for those episodes, the rest of the original performances are perfectly fine and reusable. It will be interesting to see how and why they crafted new scenes knowing that they won't record any new dialogue from them, but could reuse recorded lines and screams in various inventive ways.
We don't need new dialogues for a story meant to stay the same but conveyed in a nicer way.
As for the opening song, just hearing the bit from the trailer, it should be one of the best songs of the franchise, one that understands how an epic, dynamic shonen opening is supposed to sound like nowadays and fire you up! But I'll discover the opening and the rest in just a moment now, so we'll see! They should add it to Sparking! Zero as soon as possible and associate it with the characters from the first three arcs when they don't have a personal theme (as a reminder, the game automatically associates the expected songs and anime BGMs to the story bits and the bosses in the Limit Breaker Journey mode if you have bought those songs and anime BGMs)
Chozetsu Dynamic was not too hard to surpass with something more fired up, but it's gonna be tougher to find a replacement for the opening of the Tournament of Power if they get to rework it too at some point in the future, since it's a damn good one in the dynamic/fire-you-up department!
