Did Linkin Park sing Rock the Dragon and Jay-Z sing GT's OP?
Yeah... I dunno why but I've always thought that Chester Bennington (of Linkin Park) sang "Rock the Dragon"... the first opening music for DBZ... sorry if there is a thread like this already.
I mean Linkin Park used to be called "Xero" and they released an EP before they made Linkin Park, and that's what it was credited as... but there was also a British rock band named "Xero", from like, the '80s, but I doubt they'd sing it... and then it sorta sounds like Jay-Z sang DBGT's American opening... but that's just my rusty ol' ears, I guess... So what do you Linkin Park/Jay-Z fans think about this

I have two words for you: Lock down
Just kidding. But seriously, Jay-Z didn't sing the American GT opening. I've seen the guy. And Linkin Park? Were they even out when Rock The Dragon came out?

Man, you SCARED ME OUTTA MY MIND, you know that?
Well, like I said... they used to be called "Xero." lol It was like a side project, until they actually formed Linkin Park. Chester Bennington was the lead singer of Xero, also. I dunno about Jay-Z... after hearing a few of his songs, (including those Linkin Park [feat. Jay-Z] songs...) I've always thought his voice and tone sounded the same as the guy who sang GT's opening. Strange, it's always been a big question of mine... for like, the past 10 years, haha.

Trust me, Jay-Z was probably WAY too busy to sing an opening to an anime. I also see nothing related to DBZ on Linkin Park's wiki page. But you were right. Xero was around when "Rock The Dragon" was around. But I doubt that it was them who sang it.DBZGokuSaiyan wrote:Man, you SCARED ME OUTTA MY MIND, you know that?Well, like I said... they used to be called "Xero." lol It was like a side project, until they actually formed Linkin Park. I know that Mark Menza composed the DBGT opening and I know what the guy who sings it looks like, but I have no idea who sang "Rock The Dragon". Maybe Vegetto EX knows?DBZGokuSaiyan wrote:Yeah, that's very true... hmm... guess we'll never know.Pain wrote:Trust me, Jay-Z was probably WAY too busy to sing an opening to an anime. I know that Linkin Park and DBZ have been paired up before (in AMV's), but thankfully they didn't pair up for this! I don't know when "Rock the Dragon" was made, but Xero has been around since 1996, in case anyone was wondering.
And personally, as a fan of both artists (especially the music they made together) I am positive that either one of them would have been able to make an amazing "Rock the Dragon" or GT Rap.

If you watch several of Linkin Park's music videos, you can tell that some or all of their group members have an affinity for anime (particularly Mike Shinoda, which would make sense given that he is of Japanese descent).
As for whether or not they've ever actually done any vocal/musical work for an anime series, I doubt it.

If Linkin Park ever had any association with 'Rock The Dragon' we would have known about it by now; the band itself would have made a comment or two about it. Also, the vocalist that we hear in Rock The Dragon sounds nothing like Mark Wakefield (original vocalist for Linkin Park) or Chester Bennington.

I think that would be the place where it all started... but it's always been an intriguing topic. And yeah, I guess LP would've announced it or been credited as "Xero" if they did. I just heard the song, and I have to admit... that it's definitely not LP's style (crazy guitar riffs, anyone???!!) But I don't really know much about the band members of "Xero". Can anyone please tell me who were the band members and what position they held in the band?VegettoEX wrote:Mislabeled MP3s on Napster circa 1999-2000.NeptuneKai wrote:Rock the Dragon sounds absolutely nothing like Linkin Park's style. If you've been around the web for over ten years you'd know these things. The most common bands for mislabeling are Rammstein and "Weird Al" Yankovic. The most common one I find is Ome Henk - Neem Een Ander in de Maling, which is a Dutch song, credited as Rammstein - German Barbie GirlPain wrote:I swear...You know EVERYTHING.VegettoEX wrote:Mislabeled MP3s on Napster circa 1999-2000.NeptuneKai wrote:Rock the Dragon sounds absolutely nothing like Linkin Park's style.
