Getting Wished Back

Post by Kroni_Hunter » Sat Aug 02, 2008 4:22 pm

Okay, 2 questions:

1. If you are wished back with the Namekian Dragonballs, can you still get wished back by the Earth Dragonballs since you have never made that wish on those balls before?

2. Why do some characters get wished back to where they died and others just lose their halo and stay in the afterlife? Goku and Piccolo were both on Kaio's planet and had to get back themselves. Tien, Chaiozu, and Yamcha were at the same place, but when they are wished back they just appear out of nowhere. At first I thought it had something to do with whether or not their bodies were still on Earth, but Chaiozu's body was completely obliterated and he still came back instantly. It seemed weird when they said Goku and Krillin would be brought back to where Namek was before it exploded and would just die again. I was thinking to myself "won't they just lose their halo up on kaio's planet or wherever they are" The only explanation I could come up with was that when Goku died the first time Kami teleported his body away mystically and when Piccolo dies Kami's death teleports his body away mystically, so Kami might have something to do with it....but why would Kami screw Goku over like that and make him go across snake way again that's just dumb.

No, when the Cell Jr are figthing, Gohan said that noboby except Trunks can be wished back with the Dragon Balls.
And Yamcha, Tenshinan and Piccolo were wished back only with the Namek Dragon Balls.

Anime incoherence, nothing more.

@Question number one: I think so, despite what above poster said. Remember that Kuririn had already died in Dragonball, and yet he was revived by the Namekian dragonballs... right?
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Yes. The restriction is that Shenron cannot grant the same wish twice. Wishes to Porunga are not wishes to Shenron.

Gohan was not exactly thinking clearly.

You can wish people back more than once with the Namekian dragonballs, so that doesn't matter.

Yeah, Shenron's the only one with the revival restriction. Reviving with the Namek dragon is not reviving with Shenron so he can still bring you back.

As for the second wish, I take that as a difference of the dragons as well. If you'll note the only ones who had to do any traveling where Goku and Piccolo, both revived by Shenron. Meanwhile Porunga just pops you back out where you died. The only exception to this is when the dead individual lacks a body, in which case Shenron can pop you right back out where you died as well (Bora, Krillin, Roshi in DB, Kibito in the Buu Saga).

I guess this can be explained by Shenron being a little more litteral than Porunga. You tell Shenron to revive someone and he just restores their body to life whereever it's at (or makes a new one where they died if they lack one like Kibito did). Meanwhile Porunga just goes a step further and actually brings them back from Otherworld as well.

Wait a sec though, wasn't it stated in the manga that Chaiozu's body was "regenerated" by Kami when they met him in the afterlife? I think it's when King Kai tells Goku that they all showed up for training. As for them just appearing on Earth, I guess there really is no explanation for that.

As I said, it's anime incoherence, since in the manga, Tenshinhan, Chiaozu and Yamcha being wished back is just mentioned, but not show.
So, just as Goku and Piccolo, they get wished back on Kaio's planet, and like Goku, they propably have to travel on the Snake Way before Kami bring them back to Earth.

I think Kaio-sama stated that he made a new body for Chaizou.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Piccolo was revived by Porunga, remember it was Gohan and Kuririn's first wish on Namek. How could Shenlong revive Piccolo when if he's dead, so is Shenlong?

Buh.....

....

*headdesk*

I... I don't even have an excuse for that.

Ummm. Hmmmm.

Well, uh, I'll just go with the fact Piccolo was wished to Namek so fast he didn't have time to re-appear on Earth first. >.>
