Could it be the "lost" episodes?

I doubt it. It's probably just a misunderstanding.

I'm semi surprised they didnt do something like that; have the GT sets have fewer discs, that way they could sell more of them. Also that would make the spine pic bigger and we could have more character art for the front, but I'm still okay with just 2 seasons.

Nope there is something fishy here.

Funimation is acting very weird.

Not only Amazon has 3 discs, but also bestbuy has 3 disc. I don't think it's a typo.

And regarding the release date, it's weird. On the Yu Yu Hakusho box. You had a folder wich had the advertisement for GT. On the front it said 24 June (Wtf) and on the back it said 16/9. And now we get to hear that it's 11 November. Also if you think about isn't it weird we get a trailer for GT on 15 June, when it's coming out 11 November. I think Funimation is still not sure what they are doing.

I wouldn't be suprised if we would get a new trailer, announcing new episode count and new release date.

It would blow if they did that, but it wouldn't be out of character for Funimation.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Well, when a store like Amazon or Best Buy sells a product they use an image, description and release date that is provided to them from the company them self, so Funimation probably just sent the same package of distribution information to both companies. Whether or not it's correct or not I don't know, just that both of then having it means nothing more than they're both talking about the same product.

The 3 discs HAS to be a mistake. Not even FUNi is stupid enough to put 11 episodes on one disc. Remember how they increased the disc-count from 5 to 6 on the DBZ-sets to avoid horribly low bitrates? If they used 3 discs here, the video would be unwatchable. It should be at least 6, preferrably 7 or 8.

Except for when they did it with the original DB TV series, and then some.

Granted, you did mention the result of logical and justified complaints against the originally-noted five discs for the first DBZ season set... we got six discs. I can't see this new DBGT set honestly coming out with that many episodes on just three discs, but having followed the company since the near-very-beginning... I wouldn't put anything past them. That info is coming from somewhere, though.

Actually I was not saying they would put 32 epis on 3 discs, no they're not that crazy. What I was saying is, that they are planning something different I think. Like less episodes a box. That's why I said, we could expect a new trailer with new episodecount any time.

What I find the strangest thing about the story is the recently released YYH season box set. It contained a folder with the damn release date. That was my confirmation for 16/9, but now amazon and bestbuy and the 3 disc mystery. Damnit. What is Funimation trying to do and the worst part of it. We can't do anything about.

According to Sonny Strait they're up to the mid eighties. They just met Chopper, seemingly.
Thanks for the up to date news. That means the boxsets after the Second Voyage should be getting bigger.
Doubtful, FUNimation likes uniformity so we'll probably be getting thirteen and maybe fourteen episodes a set.

It's like for every good thing FUNi does with DB they have to mess up something else with it. Maybe the "3pc" just refers to the three flaps holding the DVDs. Then it would be 2 discs per flap.

Weren't those all 2-disc-sets? And none of them had more than 20 episodes total, right? So even those didn't have that many episodes on one disc.

Those had like 5-8 episodes a piece on them. I've never really got why they put them out in dual disc cases since they LOVE making money, they could have put out 3 episodes on a disc like Z and make a ton more money.

They need to get the rights to the first 13 episodes so we can get DB season sets as well.

They might be cutting the set in half to about 16 episodes. That way they have 4 sets and double the profits.

Man I think we should just wait. ATM it's Amazon and Bestbuy vs DBGT trailer and the folder with the DBGT release in the YYH boxset.

I am not going to waste any enery for this anymore. When it's released it's released and how it's released doesn't matter. We can do nothing about it.

That's a very flat-out way of seeing things.

I think talking about what might happen is fun for fans and I think it gets everyone a little more excited for what may or may not be release.

I'm really happy they've gone far with the Remastered releases, remember when we started off with this?
Image
Eventually we'll see a god-damned DB release...
I can't understand why they don't buy the rights to the first episodes, Lionsgate's release is crap and shouldn't bring in that much money, and Funimation are at the top of the Anime distribution companies now.

Funi should just redo the terms of the Dragonball license with Toei. They could end their current agreement and make a new one on the spot. That would end the sub license that LionsGate has.....I think.
