Funi has undergone virtually everything in the industry, from creating and ending other sublicenses to branching out to a lot more and still Lionsgate has the sublicense. And I don't think that Funi will release a season set release of Dragonball until they get that license back, and nobody knows when that will be.Raki wrote:That would end the sub license that LionsGate has.....I think.
GT Season One Box (and Other Things) Confirmed
They should appeal to Toei to end the sub license. Toei keeps letting Lions Gate renew it.SSj_Rambo wrote:Funi has undergone virtually everything in the industry, from creating and ending other sublicenses to branching out to a lot more and still Lionsgate has the sublicense. The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.
They aren't renewing it, the sublicense has just never expired. Plus Lionsgates' sublicence goes though Funimation, not Toei; Toei only gives the license to Funi, who can sublicense it to whoever they want.Raki wrote:They should appeal to Toei to end the sub license. Toei owns the original copyright to Dragonball, so they should be able to pull licenses no matter what Funimation does.SSj_Rambo wrote:They aren't renewing it, the sublicense has just never expired. Is Lionsgate really still making money on DB? Or are they hardballing Funi for more money to get the home video rights back? Maybe if we petitioned Lionsgate...? The VHS release of the "Goku saga" was some of the first anime I ever purchased. It was odd seeing that around the same time as Ninja Scroll and Urotsukidoji.

They can pull the central license to FUNimation, however they can't change the fact that FUNimation sublicensed to Lionsgate/Kidmark, nor would they have any interest. It doesn't change what they got paid for the license to begin with.Raki wrote:Toei owns the original copyright to Dragonball, so they should be able to pull licenses no matter what Funimation does.
And Lionsgate is just playing ball, they want money to let go of their sublicense. FUNimation obviously doesn't want to pay because they don't see the value in it nor do they want to share the profits by having Lionsgate distribute the one set that would be effected, so we'll probably never see those episodes in the US.

The Dead Zone/Tree of Might Double Feature trailer did mention that Season Six would be "the complete Cell Games Saga". So yes, thus setting up the next set with Saiyaman/Otherworld Tournament and Babidi.Raki wrote:It should.Felliko wrote:The trailers looks cool, will S.6 finish the Cell saga though?

How many episodes per set, and which ones, is that?LeprikanGT wrote:I don think babidi will be in the next one.
I'm thinking:
7= Great Saiyaman and World tourny Saga
8=Babidi and Majin Buu
9=FUsion and Kid Buu

7 seems about right for what they've been doing recently.kusakun004 wrote:That would give us:Anonymous Friend wrote:How many episodes per set, and which ones, is that?LeprikanGT wrote:I don think babidi will be in the next one.

8=Babidi and Majin Buu
9=FUsion and Kid Buu
7- 25 eps
8- 34 eps
9- 38 eps
8 is higher than what they've been trying to do but season one was about the same.
9 is pretty high but to get the average number of episodes, and even keep it six discs and keep they're story/fight theme per disc, they may try to have a season not end at a pivotal point. I guess we'll have to wait and see how they're gonna handle this.

Sounds like a damn good and realistic estimate to me! It seems like we keep getting less and less episodes, but the last couple sets assure that they'll go out with a bang!kusakun004 wrote:That would give us:Anonymous Friend wrote:How many episodes per set, and which ones, is that?LeprikanGT wrote:I don think babidi will be in the next one.

That is the most logical way of releasing the rest of the series, and that is how I'm hoping the do it, but with the GT season sets they broke up the Bebi Saga between two sets to avoid the second set having to have only 24 episodes, which makes me wonder if Funi will break up the Babidi Saga between seasons 7 and 8 to keep season seven from only having 25 episodes.kusakun004 wrote:That would give us:Anonymous Friend wrote:How many episodes per set, and which ones, is that?LeprikanGT wrote:I don think babidi will be in the next one.

Back on the subject of the GT sets, this is why I think the sets are now 3 disks:
My post on Funi's Forum wrote:The set will be 16 episodes so they can drag out the releases...to make more cash. Think about it: 2 sets with 32 episodes would only be 100 dollars. But by cutting up the sets in half from there, you would get 4 sets with 16 episodes in them. 4 sets at 50 dollars would be double profits for Funi. Overlord Gen-sama gets even more of my money cause if the sets are 4:3 i'm buying them.

You weren't being sarcastic with the Overlord Gen-sama crack, were you?Raki wrote:Back on the subject of the GT sets, this is why I think the sets are now 3 disks:My post on Funi's Forum wrote:The set will be 16 episodes so they can drag out the releases...to make more cash. $120.00 max, depending on were you buy.
Being as Funi is number one in the R1 land, I think the name Overlord Gen-sama is a fitting title for the future Lord of R1 Anime. I'm just surrending my cash now to get in line.JulieYBM wrote:You weren't being sarcastic with the Overlord Gen-sama crack, were you?Raki wrote:Back on the subject of the GT sets, this is why I think the sets are now 3 disks:My post on Funi's Forum wrote:The set will be 16 episodes so they can drag out the releases...to make more cash. ...at this rate that full screen release won't too far away if they keep raking in the bucks. *Already pre-ordered One Piece Season One Second Voyage* $40 well spent!
