Sparking openings... what the hell happened?

Post by Rory » Sat Aug 16, 2008 3:52 pm

Do you guys remember the opening for the first Sparking?
That was awesome, the animation was great, it had.. something of a plot, taking place in weird different dimensions or whatever.
All in all, it was great to look at, and I can still watch it today, and remember when I first saw it. It may not be new animation from Toei, but its still the epitome of badass..
So what the fuck happened? Why did the 2nd and 3rd Sparking intro's suck so badly, they just look like rushed half-assed 'efforts' of making an intro.
..Guess that was more of a rant than anything, but what do you guys think about this?

Times have changed since the long since passed year of "TWO THOUSAND FIVE". :lol: I guess they needed something with more edge. The first opening was WAY to glowey. The second and third fit the game more. It resembled the game itself more than the first opening did. The first one looked more like a Burst Limit that wouldn't suck. :?

I always thought the Budokai 2/3 audio and visual were the best.

What's that supposed to mean?

You mean the Sparking series, right?

Um no, I mean the Budokai series. Or if you want me to use the proper Japanese name, Dragonball Z 1 and 2

I think we're all talking about 3 different things here. In this case, FUNimation will save us from confusion (How ironic).

@ SSJ2bardock: :? It doesn't matter which name you use. I myself like using the english names. I'm not the kind of bastard who forces you to say the original name.

@ Rory: I actually like Burst Limit. It's just that the repetitive cut scenes, and confusing story mode mixed with no tournament mode, threw me off.

Indeed you caught my mistake, I meant to say 2 and 3 not 1 and 2.

FUNimation's names will save us all! :lol: Just say the American name for a second and we'll know what you mean.

DBZ1= Budokai

DBZ2= Budokai 2

DBZ3= Budokai 3

I'm talking about Tenkaichi 1, 2, and 3

In my attempt to try and get this topic back, I think that the original Sparking intro is WAY better than the other 2 Sparking openings, they just sucked. It really fit "We Gotta Power", and even though it's shiny as hell, I still like it.

But it will never be as massively awesome as the Budokai 2 and Budokai 3 openings. :D
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

Fan of Dragon Ball Z and various other Anime since '98! ^^

I'm probably breaking more rules by posting this pointless retort, but that was a horrible typo on my part. Enough, better now!? :lol:

Goku reminds me of Sonic in the first opening.
I finally bought a gamecube. To bad they don't make any games for it now.

Back on topic?!
Thank god...
Anyway, did anybody else think the Sparking Opening was better like.. WITH the American music?
I just feel We Gotta Power doesn't fit that opening very well.. but the American music is pretty damned sweet.

Goku and Kid Buu fight in some inter-dimensional arean? What!!!
Looks weird and clunky...Budokai openings were so much better. 8)
Gohan: "You're a Buddhist." Kuririn: "A hungry Buddhist!"

They should have stuck to just animation when it came to the openings. That 3D stuff was just weird. Like that one part where Trunks and Vegeta are standing back to back cutting there eyes at each other. What's up with that ? The Sparking opening (at least for the last two games) were just of characters doing random things like Turles flying through space or Cell standing on Ape Bebi's shoulder on the planet of the Kai's. What the fuck!?
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

Budokai 3's opening was shit for the scene where Broly and Gogeta punch each other, and it's Gogeta who goes flying.

I haven't even watched the Tenkaichi 3 opening, despite it being one of my favorite games, which says more than anything else I could say.
