Woohoo! More News About The New Dragonball Special!

Isn't somebody always breathing down their necks with the games though, which is why they're so well done?

I still think there's a high chance of battle powers being changed in a potential dub, assuming they're in the special at all. Remember, the Saiyan Saga and movie three redubs were the most recent things FUNi did for the series, and power levels were mistranslated like crazy in both of those.

That little guy on the left does look like a DBO Yardrat. Chances for this being a DBO related tie-in have increased.

What I want to know is who the other guy in that section is. We've got all the Saiya-jin types that he looks anything like already acounted for. By appearances I'd guess him to be a Saiya-jin, from what little we can see. The armor, the black spikey hair, the black eyes. But... he's got a Gohan like face with a Vegeta like scowl. Odd. Very very odd.

Maybe he's Raditz from the past? I only say that because he's got the same armor colorscheme, and I only recall him using those brown shades.

But, well, in DBO, the Yardratians are the ones who develop the new time traveling technology, apparantly shortly after their world is destroyed and a meteor containing survivors crashes into Earth. And that little guy really does look a hell of a lot like Toriyama's version of the Yardratians.

I'd also wager that the chunky Freeza(?) troops can transform. I mean, this is Dragon Ball.

Looking forward to some new media to get a better idea of what's going on in this.

The thing that I am worried most about this special is when it will get released on DVD. It took Toei over 10 years to release the last DBZ movie on DVD, and it won't get an individual DVD release until 14 years after it's original premier. If that is any indication as to how quickly they will release this special than I'm hoping that it at least gives Funi enough time figure out how to properly release it over here in the states...but I'm sure that Toei will step up the pace for releasing this special in order to release it within a year or two of the Dragonbox The Movies singles.

Hey, people...didn't realize a thread about this particular topic already existed. I had already posted some information about the special in another thread...I suppose I'll copy it over here so that the mods can erase the other one if they find it redundant.

So here's what I posted...

Hey people. Just wanted to tell you if you didn't know already...TOEI is producing a couple of animated shorts for the upcoming "Jump Tour". One of them is a OnePiece special called "Romance Dawn" (wasn't that already animated before? Maybe this is a new version...)
And then there's the Dragonball Z special.
Based on the character designs provided, the story roughly takes place during/recently after the Majin Buu Saga.
Confirmed to appear are Goku (of course) and ChiChi, Gohan, Videl, Mr. Satan, Goten and Trunks (and probably Gotenks), Yamucha and Puar, Kame-Sennin, Bulma and Vegeta.
Goku will be wearing the orange version of his famous outfit (the original was kinda deep red), but for some reason it has the Kame kanji symbol on the back ( and a smaller one over the heart), which he hasn't used since the beginning of the Saiyan Saga.
Vegeta will be wearing he same Saiyan armor he wore during the Cell Saga (the one without the sharp shoulder guards).
And then there are what I assume to be the bad guys.
There are three aliens, dressed in the usual Saiyan/Freeza's warrior-type armor. There's the round-faced alien twins, Abo and Kado (one of them is blue, the other red...I forget who is which.) Then the big guy, Aka, who kinda reminds me of Dodoria.
And then there's the new Saiyan character, "Table" ( as in short for "vegetable". He kinda looks like Ultimate Gohan when he's got that serious face, but he's short like Vegeta. He wears the Saiyan armor with the sharp shoulder guards as well as a Scouter,and he's still got his tail, which he proudly displays.
And...that's all I know, so far.

Honestly, no-one is going to listen to you here unless you have some kind of source for this information, if we all listened to people like you, we'd be writing letters to FUNimation demanding to know why they haven't released Dragonball AF, because we all know that it's actually real and they are just hiding it because it's super awesome.

Well, I don't have the credits for Bust Limit but I'm 99% sure Chris Sabat directed (all FUNi games use his company) the voice actors so he probably made the conscious decision to pronounce Kaiô-Ken correctly like he did in that one episode of the UUSE.

That would really suck for me. I don't like those characters very much, to be honest. I'm hoping more for something dramatic, with comedic undertones of course. It wouldn't be Dragon Ball if it wasn't funny. But I want more than poop and tit jokes.

I'm sure that the trend of having Saiya-jin names be puns of vegetables will stay true for this special, but I doubt that he will do anothe pun on the word vegetable.

Unless the new saiyajin happens to be related to Vegeta in some way.

Here's hoping FUNimation, assuming they license it, pick up on the puns and don't change the names.
