The Japanese credits are in the the English credits now.

See, I used to not think much about this, and I realise it's a standard for Anime companies to do nowerdays.TheMajinRedComet wrote:The Japanese credits are in the the English credits now.
However the problem is that for quite a few titles, the credits are placed on the OP and ED in sometimes very artistic, or very specific ways. Ie placed out of the way of action, or placed to incorperate itself with action or whatever else.
More often than not, people like ADV would just place pretty jarring looing, wrong-fonted credits right in the middle of the screen at the beggining of a show (Rahxephon's episode 1, for example, is a hugely great example of this. I mean they blurr the fucking screen out rather than just leave Japanese credits in! Oh no god forbid people having to read "them crazy gooks jibbahjabbah!), whereas the ending would be a crudely implemented scrolling credits.
Much more preffered is simply leaving the video entirely intact, as it is, and placing an entire (and correct, though this is difficult for FUNimation to pull off, as you all know) cast/staff/credits list at the end, so that those who care can still get their information.
Still, it can be a minor gripe in the long run.

Well, I've lost track of how many times these movies have been released, so maybe that's why you have familiarity. This is the first release "remastered" in a tin though.Strongbad456 wrote:I have a stupid question. Is this the first time the remastered movies 1 and 2 tin set was released? For some reason I feel like I already bought it a while ago but I don't actually have it.
I picked this set up, looks great, really cool to finally see the DBZ movies in it's intended widescreen.

Ah I see. I probably was just confused because of all the many movie releases over the years. Thank you.Undercooked Sausage wrote:Well, I've lost track of how many times these movies have been released, so maybe that's why you have familiarity. I bought this over a week ago, but just got around to watching Movie 2, which is probably one of my favorites, and I have to say, I don't think I enjoyed it that much.
First off, the picture quality and everything was fine. The dubbing was also pretty good, this was obviously dubbed more recently than other stuff as all the characters are voiced well, Piccolo especially sounds spot on.
Now here is where I come to a cross roads.
I really, really like the Ocean Dub version of this movie, even above the Japanese version. So the new Funi dub lands in third. It's not that I don't like the Funi cast, it's just, I don't know, something about the Ocean Dub version Rules. I have always been fond of Peter Kelamis as Goku, and the fact that he said Kaio-Ken always helped his credibility. Plus the Ocean dub sound mix was better and didn't cut anything out. I always liked the Ocean Script better. After seeing the Ocean dub version so many times, this one's script just felt, odd.
Normally I don't praise ocean and the old funimation, but The Worlds Strongest was something they did perfectly.

There's also that Trunks/Bardock double feature that was in a tin.Strongbad456 wrote:Ah I see. I probably was just confused because of all the many movie releases over the years. I bought these sets yesterday. For the people doubting how good it looks in motion, trust me, it looks awesome. I'll probably have some Dead Zone comparisons later today, but don't count on it.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

I finally picked up my copy.
It's been ages since I've seen Movie 2, so of course I ended up watching that some seven times in a row. Then I hit the first disc for some Dead Zone commentary (which I am so glad was ported over to this release), as I hadn't heard it in awhile.
Speaking in general, this is the way the movies should have been released since the very beginning-- two at a time, and in good, strong packaging. The only honest complaint I have against them if that I'm afraid to scratch or scuff the discs when I remove them from the case, since they tend to be quite stubborn.
I've never seen the DragonBox footage, so I suppose ignorance is bliss in this case. These look great, even better than the Bardock/Trunks double feature, and I'm going to continue picking them up as they're released.

Sorry for waking up this old thread but i find it that my question is related to this. So can someone post blu ray edition vs dvd edition? What changes between the dvd and the blu ray version?
Also i can't seem to find a thread for broly double feature so can we speak in regards to it in here?

We've been asking and looking for Blu-Ray shots since the movies came out but no one seems to have the $200+ Blu-Ray disc drives and be able to take the screenshots for us. I saw some Blu-Ray Broly shots a while ago and I can try to find those again if anyone wants me to.gus738 wrote:Sorry for waking up this old thread but i find it that my question is related to this.
