When did Dragonball Z stop airing on Cartoon Network?
I've been trying to figure this out for a couple of weeks now and I have finally decided to just come to you guys! I'm trying to figure out when Cartoon Network stopped airing Dragonball Z so that I can figure out when I started watching the show (which was about three months after they took it off of the air).
I know that it was last being aired once a week on their Toonami segment on Saturdays at either 10:00 or 10:30 pm in 2007 and they stopped when the show was at about the Imperfect Cell Saga. So if anyone can just tell me about what month Cartoon Network stopped broadcasting the show it would be a great help. And if anyone is capable of figuring out all of the times that Cartoon Network aired DBZ movie 5 as well, that would be great.
Thank you very much in advance!

Right in the middle of the Cell Games in early 2008. It was replaced by Samurai Jack. And well...the box sets were coming out around that time, so no wonder they stopped airing it to get more people to by the box sets.

Wow, they really did stop it early this year? I guess it just feels like it has been so much longer. Thanks for the help!Pain wrote:Right in the middle of the Cell Games in early 2008. Cartoon Network is a pain in the arse, Oh sorry I mean ass
Trust me just go and buy the un-cut boxset! You will be much more happy rather than watching their endless stream of nonsense adverts and then getting the episode cut off at the end for no reason!
I can't believe they replaced DBZ with Samorai Jack! I mean... Samorai Jack! It's a funny looking nancy pants guy dressed in a cheap karate suit.
Super Saiyan Four Vegeta Vs Samorai Jack - Now that's a battle I would like to see

Yep, just a little while before it went off the air permanently. I really got a late start in my fandom, but this forum and it's corresponding site really helped me learn what I didn't get to learn from the many, many episodes that I never got to see on TV.mystic trunks wrote:You just started watching in 2007?

Wow man. So you totally missed dragonball z when it was crazy popular. You should try ebay to get a dbz dvd collection.SSj_Rambo wrote:Yep, just a little while before it went off the air permanently. I know, and it bugs me every day. As for getting a DVD collection of the episodes in their intended 4:3 format and as they were seen at the height of it's popularity and getting to experience all of the wonderful joy that millions of other kids had the opportunity to enjoy is exactly what I want to do...but sadly I am still under the jurisdiction of my overbearing parents and they strongly detest the show and my infatuation with it. In 3 years when I'm in college I will definitely buy everything that I have been missing out on, but until then I'm just saving my money and buying what I can in person with cash.mystic trunks wrote:Wow man. Ha Ha I remember going to Blockbuster and Suncoast each month to get the next 2 DBZ VHS. Funimation is such a rip-off. One VHS with 3 episodes for $20... Jeez. I must of spent at least or about a grand on all of those tapes. But it was definitely worth it. Now 20 to 30+ episodes for $30, even if they're, dare I say it, ... cropped! At least it's a much better deal than the tapes were.
Gohan: At least he doesn't have his sword out anymore.
Kuririn: Yeah, and your dad put his finger away too.

I actually heard a rumor on Adult Swim's bumpers they are trying to bring it back.Samurai Jack is a really good series. Didn't have a true ending but heard they would try to give it one.
But yeah, Cartoon Network plays the series then stops when things get interesting. I guarentee if they start to play it again (probably when the movie comes out) it will start somewhere in the Freeza arc, all over again. I really want them to play the original Pioneer dub, seeing those eps again on TV would really bring back memories.[/quote]
Yep, they brought it back some time in 2007 and aired the standard Funi dub.Zitese wrote:I believe around 2005 to 2006, this was around the time they were airing the "Ultimate Uncut" edition and the first times I've heard cursing outside of Adult Swim on Cartoon Network.
However they might bring it back again, they always did.

Well Dragonball Z just stopped airing last week in Australia and New Zealand. Just before it stopped airing, they played 5 episodes per weekday for 2 weeks...of the Ocean dub, first 53 episodes but strangely they only played 48 episodes. I taped all of them so I would never have to wait again.
Also they were playing all 13 Dragonball Z movies except for Super Android 13. Strangely Fusion Reborn and other movies still retained the curses in it like 'hell' and 'satan'.

Ah yes. I completely forgot about Pioneer. Another jackass co.Super Sonic wrote:Not just Funi or exactly "ripping off".
