They're probably only adding characters that were in either the Shin Budokai games or the Cardass games.Big Momma wrote:Well, since that's the case, and Super 17, Paikuhan, and Janemba make 41, then that means that this game will have more than 40 characters(Assuming they kept all of the Budokai 3 characters.)VegettoEX wrote:DragonBall Z 3 / Budokai 3 actually only had 38 characters not counting transformations (which fusions are a part of). 40 isn't too far off from that.
Who do you think will be added in?
Also, I'm freaking PSYCHED for the story mode!

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

The story mode and mini games are about the only things that have me interested in this game (at least until I hear more about what the fighting is actually like).
I hope they bring back the world map thing from Budokai 3 and expand on it so that you do more than just watch some talking heads when you land in an area. Budokai Tenkaichi 2 did a little more with it, but it was still disappointing overall.

I only recently got a PS2, so I'm stoked about all this news of PS2 games for $30. Especially when one is actually a re-release of 3 games.

Hopefully there's a way to integrate memory saved from Budokai 3 to Infinite World. But...I doubt they looked into that. Funny how out of all the Budokai games; Budokai 2 will pretty much have no replay value (unless you absolutely love dragged out a board game styled story mode..T_T )
More than likely, I'm going to place Infinite World as my favourite Dragonball Z fighting game if it meets my expectations (more characters..XD). Unfortunately, I'm not even going to look into purchasing Burst Limit. It's just Budokai 1 with a sexy outfit, and extra little trinkets and accessories. The Budokai Tenkaichi series is, for lack of a better word..shit, compared to the Budokai series imo.

One thing I loved about that mode (which I learned to hate with all the replays you had to go through to get everything) was leaving the enemy characters alone for a while in the Boo stages, because if they crossed paths, Boo would absorb them, and you'd get a different dialog when you went to fight them.Snail wrote: (unless you absolutely love dragged out a board game styled story mode..T_T )
For Infinite world to be an improvement over Budokai 3, I want to have everything that was cut for time that was in Budokai 2, the extra Boo absorptions, and the extra fusions Yamhan and Gotan.
I own both the Shin Budokai games, I don't want this to turn out to be a ps2 version with more characters.

Not sure if this has ben clarified, but the Dragonball Z Trilogy is Tenkaichi 1 and 2 and Super Dragonball Z. And It's out yesterday. (Naruto has a collection coming next week Naruto, Ultimate Collection, with Ultimate Ninja 1 and 2 plus Chronicles.)

Lack of a better word? That word couldn't be more accurate.Snail wrote:The Budokai Tenkaichi series is, for lack of a better word..shit, compared to the Budokai series imo.
Although I'd love Yamhan, Gotan, and the Boo absorbtions in this game, I doubt they'll make it. It really seems t me as if they were a one off, a Budokai 2 only, if you will.

Well it would be an easy way out, considering the character models are already done, as are the animations and effects for their moves.Rory wrote: Although I'd love Yamhan, Gotan, and the Boo absorbtions in this game, I doubt they'll make it. Have any other characters apart from Super 17 and Janemba been revealed?
That's insulting to the fans that like it, you know. You don't even give reasons for saying what you think.Snail wrote:The Budokai Tenkaichi series is, for lack of a better word..shit, compared to the Budokai series imo.
Anyway, let's get back to the topic of this thread...
Personally, I'm hoping this game can be good, but when I read it will have a "simplified" version of Burst Limit's game play... I'm more skeptical...

I look at it this way, if I want to have some mindless fun, I pop Tenkaichi 3 in and do some fun character matchups, and strangely enough it's my girlfriend's favorite Dragonball game, despite the fact that initially, it's the hardest to pick up (but easiest to master).
If I'm looking for something more competitive, it's Super DBZ all the way, my friends all come from a Street Fighter/ Mortal Kombat gaming background, so they routinely enjoy smacking each other around, despite not knowing who the characters are and all the while making fun of the Japanese voice overs (PAL version FTW)
I'm looking forward Infinite world, because Budokai 3 (despite being great) has fallen by the wayside, mostly because I played it so much, my friends don't like to play because I know the game in and out (the cancels, the transform juggles, you name it) it's no fun for them, so hopefully infinite world will be different enough to convince my friends to start playing again.
I just hope that the current platforms will end up with a varied collection of Dragonball games like the ps2 did.
