It's not just you, I've noticed too. It's probably just a strange coincidence that a lot of members had a low posting week all at the same time. Hopefully it blows over, otherwise I'll go insane posting to myself all the time!

We didn't say anything to them, we just said that we noticed it...

Does Funimation even look at their packaging. Thats the main issue I'm having with these sets. This has have to be the cheapest packaging that they've put DB(Z)(GT) content into. DVDs overlapping one another, cheap image on cover, slip-on covers that hide the side image. Maybe Funimation should take some tips from Japan's packaging, give the paying customer a refund and start re-selling these disks in valuable looking boxes, not these bootleg packages. And then they have to bust our chops again when you pop the disks in the player. Oh WHATS THIS! The same cheap image thats on the cheap cover with the same cheap menus with even more cheap looking images. Oh...WHATS THAT. Is that the same crappy track in the main menu that I heard on the other 5 disks? Funimation has to wake up and smell the iced latte. I couldn't do any better than them but I'm not the one trying to sell these things.
Gohan: At least he doesn't have his sword out anymore.
Kuririn: Yeah, and your dad put his finger away too.

These sets sell, and that's all they care about. Nothing else matters to them.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

That is a very good point. It's too bad.

Well, with the cheap quality of the boxes, I believe this has something to do with a "going green" initiative FUNi is doing; using recycled material to make their boxes.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Not that I don't care about the environment and all, but they could use better quality packaging. These sets are horrible, and are due to fall apart any minute.

Raki, thats awesome how you quoted Cell in your signature. That was a funny moment. So I quoted another hilarious moment in my sig. This one isn't hard to figure out.

According to WTK from the AnimeonDVD forums, the GT set has once again been pushed back. The new release date is 12/09/08. RightStuf has this date up too. So, it's gone from August to September to November to December. At least now it's not partnered with a bunch of DBZ releases. Now casual fans have enough time to save up money. Still though, why the delays? The longer this thing stays in FUNi's possession before release, the more time they have to think of "improvements" to make to the set, so I wish it would just come out.

On a semi-related note, somebody on the FUNi Forums apparently had season six delivered the other day, but he didn't report anything about the set other than it looks "crystal clear." He hasn't logged back in to respond to our questions yet, but has anybody else gotten theirs?

It actually went from June to September to November to December. Also I really hope for a season 8 in December. I know it's unlikely, but I keep hoping :D.

The only thing I think that is delaying these sets is the widescreen issue. Some folks at Funi are probably fighting for widescreen releases while others are opposed to it.

At this rate the set will never come out. But maybe they just set the release date later for the holiday season or something.

GT Season One is the vapourware of DragonBall DVD releases.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

Odd, does that mean he got it on Friday or Saturday? Because the mail doesn't come around Sunday or Labor Day...hmmm...

That's what I'm starting to think. Remember when DBZ season one was delayed and went from yellow to orange packaging?

I would love it if the remaining sets were to be full screen. I'd be way more apt to buy them.
On hiatus.

Don't we have all of GT available in very nice box sets already, though?

We sure do, DBGT is the closest FUNimation has ever gotten to a perfect release, everything is intact, including the next episode previews.

If these new sets end up being fullscreen, thats fantastic, but if they end up cropped, people buying them are justifying FUNimation's actions by being happy to pay less for an inferior product.

If these do end up in 4:3 with cleaner recaptured video, then I'll even throw some money FUNimations way, but if they follow the season set route and end up cropped, I'm quite happy with the original GT releases.

I'm in the same boat as you. For the sake of financial reasons, I'll put up with cropped Z for now. But I won't buy GT done in the same manner.
