But I OWN a copy of the two season sets in question, if I'm mashing together two products that I paid for, for my own personal use, no selling, no distributing , just me and my lounge room, then it is perfectly legal.
Certainly is, for personal use it is legal. I personally found the timing of the subtitles easy, it was syncing the audio which took hours. At least I now have all thirteen movies in Dragon Box quality, good quality Japanese audio, excellent subtitles and the Funi dub option including Ocean's dub for movies 1-3. Time consuming? Yes. Worth it? Damn right!

I'm stuck on the tenth episode of Z using my singles however, just a nightmare.

Listen to the podcast where they review Dragonball movie 1. VegettoEX admits to adding subs to the Dragonbox video footage. I personally agree with what he said there. Something along the lines of "if you buy it you can do what you want with it".

For some reason, only season one hurt my eyes when I first watched it, but I got use to it quickly, and it hasn't happened again with any of the other season sets.

Well, i'm not sure whether that was aimed at me but I do own the 'Dragon Box the Movies' set and the original Funi DVDs. So since I now own the footage in theory, I can do what I want with them for my own pleasure. I think the bottom line of this topic is; it has become increasingly harder to find Dragon Box's and as long as a lack of extras doesn't bother you, then the R2 singles are adequate enough.
