I'd still like to wait until I see this thing in motion before I condemn it to hell. All we've seen are pictures. Oh and in one of them it looks like Roshi is dead on the ground. The one where Chatwinku looks like he is landing.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

If we're all here for a reason then I'm just visiting.

If it's held in your heart then you can't let go.

The face of an old, decrepit, slug-like alien badguy. Pointy ears, antennae-like protrusions, etc. He's a more light, yellowish shade of green, but that's the only major difference.

I'd definitely prefer it if his physical design were closer to Piccolo than Spike (edit: by which I mean, more immediately identifiable as Piccolo) - but I do like the detail around his scalp, the ridges that almost resemble antennae. And to be fair, though I'm sure Marsters could pull off green make-up and antennae, I can't imagine it would have been an easy sell.

But I still think he looks hilarious. *g*

That is exactly my problem with it, if I wasn't a Buffy fan, it probably wouldn't bother me half as much, but every time I look at him I think "Vampire" not "Piccolo"

James Marsters is a fantastic actor when it comes to roles like this and he's probably the single reason I'm even going to see this movie. That and I'm pretty much obligated to.

Chatwin's looking pretty good too. We know he knows the character very well, and look how much emotion he's got in the screencaps.

Agreed, I pretty much missed how good the Chatwin screen caps were in all of my Dracculo induced anger.

Feel free to take "Dracculo" and run with it guys...

Wow. Don't you guys think your maybe blowing this Marsters thing out of proportion a little? I'm not saying hes not a great actor, I don't really know tbh, I never watched Buffy. And he may well be phenomenal in the role. I hope so. But you seem to be setting yourselves up for serious disappointment if he doesn't deliver a mind blowing performance...

Well, really he HAS basically played more or less a very similar variation on Piccolo’s character on Buffy for years… if Piccolo were more surly, foul mouthed, and British, he’d basically be Spike. I don’t see any reason why Marsters wouldn’t be able to own this part in his sleep by now. All he has to do is ditch the British accent (which wasn’t even his to begin with, so no problems there) as well as the sarcastic “Joss Whedon” humor, and he’s pretty much already there.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

I can't wait for this train wreck come 2009.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Wow, this thread exploded for a minute there that I didn't even notice I became an "OMG CRAZY REG".

Anyways, what's everyone think of Chatwin's gi in the action screen caps? I'm not sure if it's cool or cheesy looking yet, so sway my opinion!

Chatwin looks perfect.
Marsters looks just okay sadly.
Chow Yun-Fat looks perfect.
Emmy Rossum (from the poster I posted) looks beyond perfect.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

Are all the repeated comments like this really necessary?

If I didn't think it looked awesome, I wouldn't have cosplayed it. :D

It's very nice-looking, and a good version that looks better on real people.

I agree. But I think I only looked at the picture to see how hot Rossum looked, rather than how much she looked like Bulma.

Consider the clothing, it has to be skimpy!
And then bulky, and then skimpy, and she should have the various early hairstyles from the first part of the manga.

Yes they are, because I fucking love train wrecks. I'm really excited for this movie and can't wait to see how it's done, good or bad.
