What would you have done with the sreies? While DB is a great series, there are obvioulsy nit-picks that exist for each person that can really irk one's view of the sreries. So imagine if you were Toriyama and you had complete creative control over the manga, no fan-pressure, no editorial death-threats(jk), just you and a pen. I don't have enough time right now to type some of my changes, but I am looking forward to many of your responses, especially your'se Kunzait_83

I'd have ended it with Freeza, and I would NEVER have used power level numbers.

I would have had Goku and Vegeta become closer friends, train together, and have closer power levels at the end of Buu so that they could have defeated him with some kind of joint attack thing, like Goku uses the Genki Dama, Vegeta powers up and fires a tremendous blast that assists the Genki Dama in destroying Buu. That would have been cool in my book. But I guess they couldn't have trained together because Goku was dead. I would have also ditched the whole "Mystic/Ulitmate" Gohan thing. It was lame excuse to put Gohan back in the spotlight, and it wasn't even done very well.

Here is another Idea, have Goku stay dead, and have Vegeta and Gohan fuse. That would have been interesting. Vohetan?

I understand the whole "Wanting it to end with Freeza" stuff, because I honestly thought the whole Namek Saga was really awesome (From when Vegeta lands on Namek through the Ginyu Force stuff) but to me, that end just seems abrupt. I really like the whole Cell era - Buu stuff, I just don't like how the whole Super Saiya-jin thing got out of control.

1. Give Goku a mother.
2. Limit the amount of Super Saiyans(Goku,Trunks,Vegeta,Gohan).
3. Only allow Gotenks to become Super Saiyan.
4. Expand on the history of Freeza's empire.
5. Give the humans solid backstory.
6. Kill off Goku...and keep him dead at the right time.

Because you tend to have a more thorough and thought-provoking answer to questions like this.

I agree with most of what's been said ere, especially in regards to the human cast (anyone else see a kaio-ken X10 Yamcha vs. a pre-SSJ vegita?). While I have a few ideas most of them would probably fall under cliche' what-ifs and insane plot twists. However I do think the post Freeza saga could have been more interesting. Imagine if, instead of the ridiculous idea of robots being stronger than a legendary super warrior, Gero builds an army of cyborg/machines(I know 17,18,19 and 20 are cyborgs anyway, but it still dosen't make any sense for them to be so strong) that can absorb ki through any part of their body, leaving energy attacks useless and reverting the fighting back to the earlier goofy kung-fu style Toriyama fell in-love with?

Also I'd remove Freeza's thrid form; as much as I like it's psuedo-xenomorph queen look I think it just seems unnesicary, would it be that hard to just draw Freeza charging for a panel, Piccolo grunting and the others cowering? It would give Piccolo some more action and (IMO) make Freeza's next from that more drastic.

I agree with having only Gotenks go Super Saiyan, simply because that would have been better and made more sense, I don't even mind him going SSJ3, I just don't like that Goten and Trunks can go SSJ.

No, because the human fanboys would just whine harder after Vegeta crushed him like a bug.

Anyway, I, like half the thread, would end it at Freeza. except I'd have Gohan's death be the trigger for Goku's ascension. Krillin would escape with Bulma to earth.

I'd basically make Dark Star. I know none of you know what that is, but it's all I ever wanted from the series ^^

Agreeing with expanding human roles and history. I'd want more downtime- a chance to just let people live their lives for a few minutes instead of quite so much funning from battle-to-battle in Z. Damn I could nitpick on this for a week < <

The Buu arc...I just don't care for it. Gohan would have ended being a boob, quiet honestly. Finally, Buu is so generic...I kill you! or Cookie! and of course Graghthaaa? Buu just doesn't interest me. It isn't DBZ to me! SSJ2Gohan surpassing his father is DBZ to me!

No. I said pre-SSJ vegeta, not some genaric measuring stick Toriyama created to show how much of a threat the Cyborgs were. And givin Vegita's I.Q., I'm sure any of the humans could beat him. It's not like they just stood there for the few days they were on Kaio's planet.....

@ Velasa: You mean that John Carpenter movie with the beach-ball alien, or am I missing something?

They were prepping Gohan to be the strongest from the beginning of Z.

Um, you do realize that Vegeta is, most likely, the smartest of all the Z senshi. Maybe he is behind Piccolo, but that's pretty much it. Do not misinterpret prideful errors for low intelligence.

Ego the size of Rosie o'donnell asied, I still don't see him as being all that smart. I know he comes up with a stratagy against kid Buu, but (IMO) it seemed like Toriyama just wanted to end there series as soon as he could, he even says that he'd been planing the end for awhile in the final chapter. But if you think he's smart that's fine, diverse opinions make for a less dull world.

Nup. 'Dark Star: Book One' (and two) is the best fic I've ever read and it's been quite possibly my favorite since 01. I love it very much.
