The Fate of Gyu-mao

Post by SDHero » Mon Aug 09, 2004 5:10 am

The old Ox King is looking pretty old at the end of DBZ, and he mysteriously simply doesn't appear in DBGT. I've always assumed he had passed on, but I can't find anyone even TALKING about ol' Gyu-mao in GT. Not even a mention. So, does anyone happen to have anything that actually states that Gyu-mao ever died? Or is it just implied?

...or while planning the series did Toriyama and Toei just forget he existed, much like Lunch? ^^;;;

I say the latter explanation. :D

Jerseymilk: "I see Fangirls."

What about Bulma's parents? I don't recall ever seeing them in GT, and since Trunks just for some reason became CC President... oh noes, what of the cat too!?

Seriously, anyonw know? Or were they also just forgotten? That sirry Toriyama.

I think you're meant to assume that they've passed on by now; Gyu-mao was pretty much living at the Son house through much of the series, so his complete absence seems to indicate he passed on in the 5 years between Z and GT. After all, like Bulma's parents he'd be between 70 and 80 years old by then. And the way Bulma's father chain smoked, I'm suprised he lived as long as he did.

Pity. I'd have liked more interaction with Bulma's parents and Vegeta during the series. There's plenty of room for comic mischief there.

And why does Bra look like she's got heeewwwge breasts in your avatar, Deusy?

I like it. It's nice and colorful. I'm 95% sure my perspective on it would change after seeing the whole picture, though, seeing as Deus gets all of his avatars from hentai. Didn't somebody say that? Like, Dues himself?

I might have mentioned something like that in the past...but you assume that just because her shirt is above her head, that the rest of the picture must be hentai? I'm not going to even dignify that with a response...

Because he'd be right?

The "huge breasts" impression comes from the fact that you can clearly see the tops of them, whereas Bra in GT had fairly small boobies. Especially for an anime girl.

(Edit: I got the girl's name wrong. Silly me.)

Where do you get your avatars from anyway, Deus? Um, not that I like hentai or anything like that.

*PSST!* But only because it's 00ber hard to find quality DB hentai! Gimme the links!! XD

Uh, isnt Bra supposed to be 13 or so in GT? Girls that age usualy dont have ginormous breasts, even anime girls. Except for shows like Yu Yu Hakusho where characters look three years older than they actually are.

As for Ox King, I honestly think that Toei doesnt give a rat's ass about any minor character. I mean look at the movies. Since everything GT was in their hands, I think they chose to leave all the minor characters out. Even Krillin was getting less and less air time as GT progressed. I dont even think I saw Yamucha and Tenshinhan once untill the last episode. I think its funny how at the beginning of Z, Toei added tons of scenes in with Lunch, but after the Freeza saga they just stopped.

Actually, if you go by the Daizenshuu timeline, Bra's about 9 or 10 years old. And I don't know what kind of girls you know Wukong, but in my old school a lot of the girls had larger chests than the teachers. ;) Besides, the Bra in my avatar is depicted as being much older, and yes, very well endowed.

As for a link, I'll send you a PM Dayspring. Don't wanna get into trouble with Julian. :P

True enough. It bothers me how they left out Krillin, and so many other characters in GT, too. Then again, GT seems to suffer from one of the Toei-only stuff's biggest problems: it focuses on Goku to the detriment of almost every other character. The only one other than Goku who gets really good stuff to do in GT is Pan. Even Trunks pretty well disappears after the first 20-or-so episodes.

Hehe, especially between Vegeta and Mrs Briefs, judging from the way she acts during the filler XD
