Absent Characters
Has anyone ever provided a reasonable explanation for why any of the other Z-Warriors (other than the Saiyans) failed to appear in GT and the movies when earth was threatened other than “its just GT or Toei Animation”? In movie 10 Vegeta failed to show up and fight Broli. In Dragonball GT, Kakarrot as we all know took up most of the spotlight with Pan, then later a few others briefly assisted him, and then he fought alongside Vegeta at the show’s conclusion. Even though the earth was threatened Tenshinhan, Yamcha or Kuririn failed to appear to witness it. I understand that they lacked power to do anything affective but you can argue just the same concerning Son Gohan, Uub and the others. It really seemed out of character for Tenshinhan to behave in this manner. In the past, this character fought against Second Form Cell and briefly with Majin Buu when he knew he was outclassed.
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

Well the best in-universe excuse I can come up with for GT is the fact that they themselves like Goku back in the Buu saga realized they needed to stop interfering with these affairs and leave it to the second generation (Pan, Uub,Trunks and Goten and in this case as far as they knew Goku would remain a youth into the next generation too) to clean up their own messes because they won't be around forever to pull their fat out of the fire.
As for the movies I don't really know, maybe they just had enough faith in Goku and the other Saiyans to take care of everything and thought they didn't need to put their lives on the line. That or in certain movies it would make sense that they didn't know a dilemma was even going on such as movie 12 in hell and movie 8 on another planet.

Aro started to laugh. “Ha, ha, ha,” he chuckled.- Actual quote from Twilight
In GT, Yamcha and Tenshinhan were both like, "yeah, we don't feel like dying anymore. We'll stay out of this one." Kuririn tried to steal some screentime from Goku, and look what THAT got him.

Thanks
That makes a lot of sense, but it still seems out of character for Tenshinhan. I always felt like he held to the whole Spiderman philosophy "With great power comes great responsibility” in addition to the fact that he is a genuine warrior and is always in search of a means to test his skills and worth. That is what made me fond of the character, in some ways he appeared to be more of a Saiyan than, Son Goten, and main continuity Son Gohan and Trunks. Does anyone have any theories on what his reasoning may have been? In my narrative, I am attempting to reconcile why the majority essentially punked out later on other than Mr. Toriyama found them redundant.

Even Spider-Man hangs up the mask once his body starts to fail him.Saiyan-Professor wrote:That makes a lot of sense, but it still seems out of character for Tenshinhan. I always asked myself this question. Also I know the Garlic Junior saga is filler, but I wondered why Tenshinhan and Chaozu didn't feel the earth threatened by Garlic Junior and his henchman. Kind of weird for them not showing up. They probably got controlled by the black water mist, but isn't Tenshinhan smart to it avoid just like Gohan and Piccolo. Kuririn got lucky since he was under water and thus not affecting him.

My theory; When he sensed Broli's Ki, he immediately dropped to his knees and started babbling about how they were all going to be killed.Saiyan-Professor wrote:In movie 10 Vegeta failed to show up and fight Broli.
Fortunately nobody was around to see him.
Unfortunately, in this state, his Battle Power dropped to 1 or 2 so Piccolo couldn't sense him to go pick him up again.
Gohan got lucky, too. He got knocked into a cave or something. And I think Piccolo wasn't affected because he was already a Mazoku.Super 17 wrote:I always asked myself this question. Huh? I was just showing that he doesn't age fast, because he trains all the time, around the same power level of who?SSj_Rambo wrote:I'm with you on the fact that Tenshinhan must have been around the same power level, but there is just no way that he could have improved at the same rate as the Saiya-jins.
Yeah, that's just stupidity on Toei's part, they easily could have been fitted in, but were just forgot. They don't appear once in that entire "saga".Super 17 wrote:I always asked myself this question. That could have been part of it, but I like to peg it to him being too damn smart for that shit. Of course... I think I remember him being under a huge dogpile of crazy humans chewing on him. I need to watch those eps again. I don't know why I haven't watched them in a while, as they have the sexiest-antennae-swish ever in their ranks. ...... Mmh. Piccolo.....I think Piccolo wasn't affected because he was already a Mazoku.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.
