Well, that is how Daimao was in the series. His plot is to take over the world, then blow it up piece by piece.

Where the hell is he gonna go after he destroys the Earth? Does he even have the power to destroy the Earth?

I believe one source described his blasts (probably his Super Demon Explosive Wave he was going to use on Son Gokû before being impaled) had the oomph of a small nuke.

Well, he has the power to destroy cities, and his plan was to destroy one of the Earth's 43 regions each year, by using his powers to just blow up everything in that region. So he'd wipe out everything on the surface of the Earth, but he wouldn't destroy it Freeza or Buu style, where the planet simply doesn't exist anymore. So I guess after that he just planned on hanging out in the charred ruins, playing solitaire of God knows what.

And you'd think that all those years inside that jar would give him a better plan.

He'd have to shoot PLENTY of those out to destroy the Earth. Plus, using that blast requires his full power. His full power shortens his life span. I doubt that he could destroy the Earth without killing himself, first.

He was psychotic, he didn't really care. He just wanted everything to burn. He didn't care what happened afterwards.
