Yes, yes they are. I happen to like the Tenkaichi games better than Budokai as well. It just feels more like Dragon Ball.

After someone says they think it's insulting you have the balls to copy-paste a poorly written line, and post it again?
Please behave, will you?

That's insulting to the fans that like it, you know. You don't even give reasons for saying what you think.
I don't think that it's an underacheiving-throw-it-on-the-floor-pee-on-it-feed-it-to-a-pig's-bumhole game. You missed the point of my statement, I said that 'compared to' the Budokai series..it's not all that great..at all. It's just that I find it much less fun to play. I got sick of the damn thing (Budokai Tenkaichi 3) in one day, and I was actually stressed with the style of gameplay. That's my main, and only problem with the game to be precise. Despite that I actually do think that the series has offered a plethora of characters and bits and pieces here and there that are fairly entertaining to play through and watch.

So maybe I'll re-word my statement.

In my point of view, when comparing the Budokai series to the Budokai Tenkaichi series; the Budokai series is leagues beyond the Tenkaichi series in terms of gameplay.

*edit*..

Hell..sangofe, I even said Imo-In My Opinion at the end of that poorly written..no, no.. typed out sentence. GAWSH!

It all comes down to personal preference, frankly I think Super DBZ puts both the Budokai series and the Sparking! series to shame, especially considering how polished it was after only one incarnation.

Thanks for the reminder. I never got to pick up the game because my girlfriend didn't want me to 'waste' cash on anymore Z games. I'll be sure to pick it up sometime soon.

Yes, pussywhipped indeed.

It's a great game, especially if you're familiar with Street Fighter, you'll be able to jump right in.

I knew there was no other DBZ game for me once I taught Vegeta the Kamehameha.

And that's why I didn't like it. It's Street Fighter: Dragonball Edition (Goku even does the Shoryuken). I knew it wasn't the game for me when Super Saiyan lasted two seconds.

I've enjoyed pretty much every Dragon Ball game I've played. I loved all 3 Budokais, Super DBZ, and the Tenkaichi series.

Actually, Tenkaichi 1 felt the weakest to me, since the gameplay was very unpolished.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

Ugh that game had awful character models, everyone was pudgy and had square heads.

I hate doing those stupid > things but.... best way to do this so....

Budokai 3 > SDBZ > BT3 > B1 > B2 > BT2 > BT1.

IMO

I love SDBZ, it's an awesome fighter and a fun game and I love the visual style and some of the character choices (23rd Budokai Chi-Chi, Kai Clothes Gohan, King Piccolo) but there's just not quite enough... meat to it.

It's not the character count, because it has about the same number as B1. And I love having Otherworld and King Kai's as arenas (though I wish you could use King Kai outside of Vs). There's no depth to any of them. Arcade is, basicly, 7 random fights with Cell and a short set of scenes to finish it off. Z Survivors a nice challenge (I *still* haven't beaten it x.x) but it's not much of a mode. And Vs. only works if you've got someone to play against, there's no Vs. COM option.

Sure, you've got lots of stuff you can unlock but... really, a lot of it is just the same thing. Half a dozen+ colors schemes. A handful of moves, only a few of which are all that useful so everyone will eventually have them, and really limited replay value.

Meanwhile B3's got more intense action, more of a DB/Z feel with the speed of the gameplay and the ultimates, and more meat. Dragonworld is crammed with more meat than all of SDBZ. And then you've got Vs. COM, which I do a lot of. Tournament mode, which seems a more logical choice for a Dragonball game than an arcade mode. And then there's Dragon Arena which has, I think, the most replay value of any mode in any of the PS2 DBZ games.

As for BT3, it's definitely the best of the BT games, by far. BT1 had clunky animations and designs, a generally unpolished feel, audio problems, a real lack of depth in game play, crappy 'cutscenes' that were even more of a joke than B3's cut-outs (at least it didn't pretend to have cutscenes), and broken hand-to-hand mechanics. BT2 improved some of this, a few nice and flash cutscenes, better controls, better hand-to-hand mechanics, etc. But it also added the most retarded feature of any Dragonball game in the history of Dragonball games... 'non-fliers' dropping out of the sky like rocks, which made all such characters worthless.

But BT3 improved on all of that. Much smoother motions, better animations, better models, better audio, and so on. It's main issue is the severly meatless story mode. But it makes up for this lack of meat by piling it on elsewhere. It's got Vs. COM and 5 on 5 matches (well, BT2 had both and BT1 had Vs. COM but meh). A variety of tournament modes (though some are the same as others and lack of choice was stupid). Plus the missions and, in the PS2 version, two of the modes from the previous BT games. Not to mention a lot more polish with the characters moves and transformations.

Agreed, I don't know why so many people here slam it because it really is a great game and plays a lot deeper than people give it credit for. Also, while I liked Super DBZ and thought it was fun, I didn't think it was the Holy Grail of DBZ games like 95% of the board does. I guess it's a case of the ol' "thing you saw first is the best/ZOMG Street Fighter!", sort of like how fans of the dub like it better despite it's flaws. Yes Super DBZ fan, I did just compare you and your supposed "great taste in classic fighting games" to dub fans. Oh by the way, for those of you who say BT3 is all about button mashing and spamming, you can do the same things in Super DBZ too.

Wow, I just read what a typed and realized it's totally misleading  I like Super DBZ too and wasn't trying to slam it ( even though I totally did  )

These are the problems with the Budokai series.

Budokai:

1. After Budokai 1, the games' character designs became more square-ish, just like Akira Toriyama's art style during Dragonball's end.

2. Lack of "needed" characters, such as the remaining "Ginyū Tokusentai", Jinzō'ningen #19(post Budokai 1), Chaozu, and more, leave quite a gap in the events of each saga.

3. Detail on ki waves/balls/blasts resemble the graphics of PS1 DragonballGT game Final Bout.

4. Lack of cut scenes(post Budokai 1) may cause confusion to a new comer to Dragonball:Budokai games(especially Budokai 3).

5. Transformations in the first two games have absolutely no variety. The third game makes up for that with a more dramatic effect.
