What's your style?

Post by JulieYBM » Sat Sep 13, 2008 3:36 pm

I'm relatively new to DB games (I only own Sparking METEOR's American release and prior to that only played a few of the old ones via friends) but there's always room for different styles.

I tend to begin in my base state depending on how I feel and then transform as I fight unless I feel like reenacting a part of the series. Admittedly I sometimes fear I spam my specials but I've been getting better at using them only when I'm in a pinch.

Happy discussing...!

I prefer to brawl rather than rely on ki-blasts; I have more fun that way. (One of the reasons I like Super Dbz so much).
On hiatus.

All I really have to speak for is Budokai 2 and Shin Budokai, and the first is pretty awkward. As for the second, I prefer straight-up, up-close, hand-to-hand fighting, my usual goal being to create openings to land Ultimates. :D

To unbashfully play 'moderator' (not the forum type  ), what are your feelings on transformations? Do you typically begin in base and build up or pick any form of a character you feel like?

I try to recreate fights from the series. >.>

But since transforming will temporarily stun your opponent if you do it right next to them, I usually use that to my advantage. 'Course, in the Shin Budokais, you only get to pick from one transformation for the fight, so I time it well.

As for which transformation I pick, yeah, it usually depends on what I'm geeking out over at the moment. I rewatched Movie 12 the other day, and soon thereafter played through Arcade mode as SSj3 Goku and then Gogeta. XD

I transform when I need a power boost or when I'm just generally in a pinch and need a better move pool. Or when I'm being a mean ass I'll let my friend beat on me and purposely loose while in base then pop into a transformation and start fighting seriously.

I love Budokai 3 and Shin Budokai: Another Road.
My friends and I play Budokai 3 after school sometimes! :P
I try to play a round or two every day.

I tend to fight long-range against my friend, 'cause he uses Vegeta as a default and most of Vegeta's forms have Explosive Wave.

Long range fighting in Sparking! Meteor is one of the most mind numbing gaming experiences of mine in recent memory, pressing circle and L2 and hoping it connects is not my idea of fun.

I only find the game entertaining when I'm mercilessly beating on someone, otherwise I can't stand it.

Pretty true, and I'm not saying I super enjoyOMGWTF it, but using the techniques from farther away is better than charging in and getting a faceful of energy field. :P

Also, he's not cheap about it, so we fight face-to-fist a lot too, it's just something I have to watch out for.

This right here is what 90% of my friends strategy consists of.

I just use Evil Barrier with Future Gohan and then beat you up with physical attacks.
That's how I roll!
