Why exactly did Brolly have something against Goku?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

The only thing I could figure out was that Goku's crying kept Brolly up at night. Other than that, I have no idea. Paragus however did seem to want to get revenge on Vegeta. I think Brolly was just along for the ride and Goku happened to show up.

I think poor parenting on Paragus' part is to blame! :D

No, it's obviously because he listened to Marilyn Manson and played Manhunt ;p

Broli didn't exactly have anything against Vegeta, that was more Paragus' idea. Broli wasn't very interested in plans or conquest, all he knew was that Goku had drove him up the wall, and it still made him angry.

I read it was a Saiyan legend that if two babies were born on the same day, and one made the other cry, the one who was made to cry would harbor an immense and lifelong hatred for the baby who made him cry.

I think it says something along those lines in the movie itself, but it's early and I'm too lazy to dig out the script ;p

Plain and simple: Goku's loud crying drove Brolly up the wall, as Deus already said, Brolly is a psycho. Someone driving a psycho up the wall = habouring a completely over the top grudge at same someone for almost 30 years.

Right next to the part that states:

"It is a Saiyan legend that states that if a pure-of-heart-fighter with a silly haircut tries his strongest attacks on a strangely-asexual-but-still-cool-looking-creature with no effect, and then said SABSCLC shoots a former-enemy-turned-friend and blows up the comic-relief-giving-midget, then the pure-of-heart-fighter will, like, get gold hair and be really hard and stuff. You dig?"

Honest. Go and look it up.

There's no good reasofor Broly to hate Goku (or more correctly, Kakarrott-OOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!111lolomg) except that the plot itself requires it. I mean, if he had a deep hatred for Kuririn, that would be interesting, but it don't make for much of a story.

Why is it so many people on this board automatically think I'm lying?

Pfft. No one thinks you're lying. What a crock.

ANYWAY, I think the obvious answer to this question, as has already been stated, is when they were babies Goku's crying irritated Brolli to no end. I mean, HOW many times did they do that flashback in Movie 8?

Stop thinking so hard about it. DBZ is a kid's anime. It wasn't meant to be really well planned out. Heck, even it's own creator didn't always think things out! I try not to worry too much about each and every little minute discrepancy with the series. You'd be amazed at how much more you enjoy it. I know I do. ^_^

I'd replace "always" with "ever".
