That however I'd be good with. I'm fine loosing Daimaou (as long as he can still be green when he's young.) It makes more sense as Pic anyway- as there used to be some good to him but he was deeply embittered over something and stuff went bad, ended up with him in the Denshi. There's also the note that a real Daimaou would never reform. .If this is true or not, all has to be determined at the release of the film and not before then.Xyex wrote:Actually, from what I've seen, it feels more like instead of doing a 'reformed Daimaou' they're just making Piccolo into his father and then reforming him. Which, I suppose, would explain the 'conquer the world' objective, instead of the 'destroy the world' objective.
As to the egg? I'm all for that if it lets me have a Pic.

That does seem to be the way they're going... Instead of all the confusing mess with the split-off evil half and the reincarnations and spawning, they're giving us ONE Piccolo character, who goes through the whole cycle of corruption, imprisonment, and redemption. When they've got a larger plot to worry about, and an audience largely not already familiar with the character like we are, they can't waste precious time having to explain questions of, "so WHICH Piccolo is this, again?"Velasa wrote:That however I'd be good with. I agree with Rocketman about the egg-spitting. That's probably another reason for the amalgamation, and him using machinery to extract demon spawn.

Honestly, *I'm* confused by parts of that arc. I'm perfectly fine, character-wise, with the idea of combining the characters when, basically, they're the same and the point is driven home that they're the same.SSj Kaboom wrote:That does seem to be the way they're going... Which is another reason why I suspect that the "changes" James Marsters has said Piccolo undergoes are not just in character, being started upon a path to redemption, but also probably physical, like getting his youth restored somehow, by a wish or otherwise. Basically, as he is right now, he's a bit too scary and dilapidated to come across as a hero.Super Ghost Kamikaze wrote:Honestly, *I'm* confused by parts of that arc. Like like the idea of just having ONE Piccolo. Then, with the all the redemption in DBZ, he will seem like a much deeper character.

In somewhat interesting news, dbthemovie might have an interview with a movie-made character that no one knows the name of in a few days. No promises. At the very least I know his/her name right now.
Dry spells suck.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.
By the way, like I suggested a while back, I sent an e-mail to Mr. Marster's Q&A feature on his site, asking about the whole "not-green" debacle. Did anyone else do this?

Now I'm getting mental images of Optimus Prime sitting in class dressed in a Hogwarts uniform.
Well, "whimsical" is good. Some of early DB music could fall under that.
On hiatus.

I actually wouldn't mind hearing that.omegacwa wrote:Interesting Fact, I can actually do decent imitations of both Vegeta and Piccolo's Japanese voices, yet I don't really know any Japanese. For a while I just liked yelling Gekirets Koudan!
My best friend IRL actually used to do a dead-on Japanese Majin Buu.
I second that Kendamu. The more "gross" or "icky" moments in any kind of movie, the more entertained I am.Kendamu wrote:Actually, that would be pretty cool.Rocketman wrote:

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

I'd place my bets on the dub, something tells me he wouldn't go out of his way to try and find the Japanese version, if he even knows or cares that a Japanese version exists.Chrono Trigger wrote:I wonder which version of the anime Mr. Tyler watched ?
Aro started to laugh. “Ha, ha, ha,” he chuckled.- Actual quote from Twilight
Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, the Dragonball dub is pretty faithful to the original.NeptuneKai wrote:I'd place my bets on the dub, something tells me he wouldn't go out of his way to try and find the Japanese version, if he even knows or cares that a Japanese version exists.Chrono Trigger wrote:I wonder which version of the anime Mr. Tyler watched ?

So there's hope for the film yet.
Do I sense sarcasm?

Meh, more or less. They still have stupid edits (sui-ken becomes "mad cow" style?) and they continued to up the bitch-factor on Bulma. For example, in the Ma Jr. Saga, Muten at one point comments on the four strongest fighters. Bulma, in the original, laments that Yamcha and Kuririn didn't make it that far. Dub Bulma goes bitch-mode on Roshi for being "a broken record." And earlier in the same saga, Kami indicates to Yamcha that he was an extra terrestrial in the dub (during the scene where he's letting him know that he's just using a host body). To a dub writer that may seem like a funny in-joke, but it really isn't something a new viewer going in order should get before the next saga.Big Momma wrote: Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, the Dragonball dub is pretty faithful to the original.
There's little crap like that all over their DB dub that keep me from enjoying it (that and chibi-Kuririn's voice is the worst voice I've ever heard this side of Weevil on Yu-Gi-Oh!). It is a large step up from DBZ. I'd call it a decent attempt that ultimately fails some expectations, as opposed to Z which I just flat out call a shitty dub.
Amen. I can part with the antennae. Generic though the color choice may be, I kind of like the costume. The face, well it's James with demon make-up. Not a problem for me. If he could just...be...GREEN... I'd be ridiculously happy.Kendamu wrote:If he gets to be green again, I don't really care.
To show my appreciation, I'll only beat them half to death.
