Well, in the usual pattern of FUNimation making stupid decisions about all things Dragon Ball, it seems like they just plan to wait for Lions Gate's license to expire, even though the license gives them the home distribution rights forever.SSj Kaboom wrote:Whether we think they "should" or not, if FUNimation wants to release DragonBall Season Sets once they're through with them for Z and GT, they'll need to work SOME sort of deal out with LionsGate for those 13 episodes. I've got a hunch that it's probably just a matter of offering enough cash to get the rights back.
Dragon Ball Season Sets finally... in 2010...
So, I can create an account on that link provided, and order online? Does that site import their items to..say Canada?Captain Awesome wrote:I've said this before, and I'll say it again people;
Get them while they're hot.
The Madman sets are cheap, completely uncut and this includes the "Saga of Goku", why wait for an inferior, incomplete and more expensive product?

Madman ships internationally, so yes you can.Snail wrote: So, I can create an account on that link provided, and order online? Does that site import their items to..say Canada?
If you also search "Dragonball" on Ebay pages in Australia, you'll get the sets ten or so dollars cheaper, with most sellers posting internationally.
Anyway, jump on 'em, because one day soon they're going to go out of print to make way for the new "remastered" releases.

VLC Player should work.Super Ghost Kamikaze wrote:I seriously need to get a multi-region DVD player.
Also, anyone know how to play multi-region DVDs on a Vista PC? They lock you into one region with 4 changes before you're stuck forever. I'm sure there's a bit of free or cheap software to fix that somewhere.
I've tried getting my region fixed on my PC but it's hopeless, VLC Player is good enough since it plays any region and doesn't adhere to the region lock.
As for finding Multi-region players, all I know is buy a cheap one from a company you've never heard of. They don't usually put the region on the box so one should be easy to find.

USB?! \(°A°')| I don't know why I did that...Captain Awesome wrote:You can get nice region free dvd players for $25 bucks, mine lets me run mpeg4/divx/just about anything off a usb flash drive, it even lets me change the video mode between PAL/NTSC/PAL60.
And it doesn't even have a brand.
Mine doesn't even have that...
then again, like I said, cheap piece of crap from some unknown company where the power button sticks in. Maybe I didn't say that...
That part about the Lionsgate licence running out in 2010 seems kinda real, I'll try e-mailing Funimation about it.

Sorry, but I gotta call shenanigans here, the Madman DB sets are identical to the US releases (apart from being PAL format obviously) they look just fine, though the Tenshinhan saga is guilty of having too many episodes on a disc (but atleast it's dual layer).Gozar wrote:I don't have any caps or anything...But I heard that the Madman DB sets were crap poor quality encoding wise. I remember I saw a cap once and the blurriness made Season Set #1 look like the greatest release ever.
As for the "bluriness" you mentioned, there really is only one episode with sub par image quality (during the fight with Jackie Chun), and that seems to have something to do with the masters FUNimation was given.
Anyway, I encourage everyone to pick these up, they're one of the few releases put out by FUNimation that isn't a complete fuck up, but if you want to pay more for less footage, less detail and probably less episodes (lets face it Lion's gate are assholes) then I guess it's better to wait for the inevitable season set releases.

No thanks.
I've ordered both Dragonball sets and nothing went wrong. The only problem is the high shipping price.Victator Supreme wrote:How much would the shipping be though? PAL shouldn't be a problem, since most tv's nowadays can play both PAL and NTSC. And as for the Reigon 4, you can enter a code into almost any (if not all) dvd players to make them Region Free.snaku wrote:Region 4Captain Awesome wrote:I've said this before, and I'll say it again people;

wait, you can plug in a USB drive with video files on it, and it will play them? WHAT?!?!?! Dude you HAVE to give me a link to a DVD player like this.Captain Awesome wrote:You can get nice region free dvd players for $25 bucks, mine lets me run mpeg4/divx/just about anything off a usb flash drive, it even lets me change the video mode between PAL/NTSC/PAL60.

"hmm lets see.....nope, I don't have any Jewish candy"
I would just go for a 20$ or less disc drive for your computer and use it as a R4 DVD player. Plus from that and some software you ca nre-burn the DVD's into different region coded discs.Super Ghost Kamikaze wrote:...Unless you're like me, and have NEVER owned a stand-alone DVD player!
