MSSJ or SSJ2
"Gohan vs. Dabra"
Is it SSJ2 Gohan or MSSJ Gohan?
Is it SSJ2 Gohan or MSSJ Gohan?
It's a gag manga! It never was nor was it meant to be scientifically sound or accurate.

One of the Daizenshuu says he does against Dabura, but I guess the question is whether people agree with it or not, since it certainly doesn't look that way in either the anime or the manga.mAcChaos wrote:I assume MSSJ = Max SSJ. Which is what Gohan is. He doesn't go SSJ2 again after Cell and that one time with Kibito was his last hurrah. Or did he even go SSJ2 then?
I believe he was SSJ2 although I haven't seen those episodes in a while.
Here's a pic of him at SSJ

Notice the two bangs the big and small.

Now only one bang.
I rewatched the fight and theres only one. I'm not saying I'm completely sure though.

Hmm...it's definitely hard to tell. The lightning is usually the biggest give away, but doesn't the lightning usually only appear when they have a visible aura?TheJoo87 wrote:I believe he was SSJ2 although I haven't seen those episodes in a while.

If we are going by the anime than there is no way to tell. The lightening and aura appear sometimes and don't other times. There's no consistancy. In the manga to be honest I think Toriyama forgot to draw the lightening.

But it would be weird for him to forget to draw it only that one time, and throughout the entire battle. I mean, he added the lightning to Gohan's aura before that fight (when Gohan transformed in front of Kibito), and he also drew it in during Goku and Vegeta's Super Saiyan 2 battle 3 chapters later (Gohan is still lacking the lightning at this point, while trying to prevent Boo from awakening), so I think he was fighting at the regular level.
One thing I've never seen anyone mention is when Kaiôshin was surprised that Boo's energy meter had reached full power, wondering if it could have possibly been from Gohan's damage in his battle with Dabra. Gohan says that the damage must have come from his dad and Vegeta fighting at the level beyond Super Saiyan (or, as we know it, Super Saiyan 2). Is it just me, or does that imply that Gohan wasn't fighting at that level himself?

I don't have the later volumes of the manga right now, so could someone tell me if the SSJ2 lightning is still there even when they lack the normal aura and everything in the manga?

Gohan had the right aura when he changed into SSJ2 for Kibito, along with the other two SSJ2 as well. Gohan's hair also looks the same as SSJ2 when he transformed to unleash the Z-sword.

Didn't we already just cover this in another thread?
Trying to identify it via whether there's one or two tiny bangs is really unreliable. Look in the manga. While the anime is really inconsistent, in the manga, Super Saiyan 2 ALWAYS has the lightning bolts in the aura. Gohan did not have any lightning bolts against Dabra. Therefore, Gohan was only at SSj1.

But Gohan can't go Super Saiyan after he becomes 'Mystic'.SSj_Rambo wrote:Most of the places I've seen MSSj used it is meant as "Mystic" Super Saiya-jin, and since the whole SSj, SSj2, LSSj abbreviations themselves are fan-made terms, as is the "mystic" level of Gohan, I see MSSj as an appropriate term to use in the context of abbreviating "Mystic" Super Saiya-jin Gohan.
I know, that's why I don't use it. I was just saying that I see MSSj as an abbreviation for Mystic Gohan a lot, and since Mystic and SSj are both fan terms/abbreviations it makes sense that a lot of people use it...except for the fact that Gohan can't go Super Saiya-jin.Rocketman wrote:But Gohan can't go Super Saiyan after he becomes 'Mystic'.SSj_Rambo wrote:Most of the places I've seen MSSj used it is meant as "Mystic" Super Saiya-jin, and since the whole SSj, SSj2, LSSj abbreviations themselves are fan-made terms, as is the "mystic" level of Gohan, I see MSSj as an appropriate term to use in the context of abbreviating "Mystic" Super Saiya-jin Gohan.
I guess a more accurate term would be MSj Gohan, leaving out the "S" for supa.
I get the impression that Gohan's SSJ2 aura, after 7 years of not training, simply isn't strong enough to maintain lightning for extended periods of time.
That or Toriyama forgot to draw lightning when fighting Dabura.

No, it stands for "Mastered Super Saiyan." Also known as "Full Power Super Saiyan" (FPSSJ). The form Gohan and Goku use in the Cell Game.SSj_Rambo wrote:Most of the places I've seen MSSj used it is meant as "Mystic" Super Saiya-jin, and since the whole SSj, SSj2, LSSj abbreviations themselves are fan-made terms, as is the "mystic" level of Gohan, I see MSSj as an appropriate term to use in the context of abbreviating "Mystic" Super Saiya-jin Gohan.
I already pointed out earlier why that isn't likely.Dayspring wrote:That or Toriyama forgot to draw lightning when fighting Dabura.
