DBZ Dub Music Question

I've always wondered this, so I figured I'd see if anyone here knows the answer. In "Vegeta's Pride," dub episode 214/229, after the act break, the Japanese score plays a few notes before the Faulconer track "Goku and Kai Face Off" kicks in. I don't remember this happening on the TV broadcast, but I am certain it happens on the DBZ: Babidi - Rivals DVD. So does anyone know what the deal was with that?

I checked it. It really was an original sore! Maybe they used it as a sound effect, I guess.

I didn't look up the episode, but I do remember that happening sometimes. You'd get tiny little music moments in the SFX track. Sometimes they were kept, sometimes not.

So Scott, question for you on that point: on YouTube, none of the clips have that three seconds in them. All of them start with a closeup of Supreme Kai, which I would have to assume is from the broadcast version of the episode. I get the SFX track issue, but this is actually two or three seconds. Is it possible that it was known ahead of time that these moments would be cut for time and therefore did not need any music to accompany them for broadcast, or did you guys pretty much score the entire episode prior to edits of that nature?

Yeah we knew about them since they were on the SFX track they'd be on our chase tapes we used to work with (they had SFX & dialogue but no "music"). Soooo then it was a question of how to handle it, and I believe it was handled differently on different occassions.
