No and yes.

Moltar was nowhere, while DBZ did indeed start on Toonami while he was the host.

I'd say the moment CN decided to cancel One Piece, as well as pull Dragon Ball Z and replace them with Bakugan, Blue Dragon and then Samurai Jack, that's when I realized Toonami was repeating itself.

Remember back on weekdays when they only aired Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z before turning the weekday lineup into Miguzi? Then Toonami moved to Saturdays and got a HUGE lineup of awesome shows. Then, once One Piece got canned, it felt like history was repeating when the only real new episodes they were airing belonged to Naruto, which is on for an hour.

Instead of working on FIXING something, CN's logic for the past few years has been to dump whatever they don't like, even if it does bring in ratings (One Piece was canceled from broadcast because CN didn't like the fact that FUNi wasn't making it similar to the 4Kids dub, and Sailor Moon was replaced by Hamtaro yeeeears before that because they wanted a kiddie crowd flocking to Toonami). Now, CN intends to put a new block on Fridays for "action." So then what the hell was the whole point of ending Toonami?

Urg. This is just irritating. Do you guys remember when the first DBZ movies were being advertised? When Don LaFontaine provided the narration for the first airings of the Toonami ads of the moves? And especially that epic first few seconds of the Japanese voices coming up with the Japanese title card for The World's Strongest? Remember all of that? I sure do. Nothing will ever be that epic again.

Over at http://www.toonamiarsenal.com they have the goodbye speech as well as a few montages available for viewing. Watching these was quite the sad experience indeed. I had been away from Toonami for so long that I didn't even know they had changed Tom again nor that the block was even going to end. I still remember watching in terror as the original Tom was devoured by the Intruder. I knew Tom for pretty much my entire childhood and as corny as this is going to sound, he should continue to live on in all of us. I know I won't forget about him any time soon.

See you in the future, Tom!

If Toonami was on in the evening (4-6 I think it was) like it used to I would have still watched it (assuming there was something I sorta liked in it), but moving it to SATURDAY NIGHT!? WTF!? What better way to kill a program.

Serendipitously, I caught the last episode of Jack they played. I was stunned when Tom said it was the last broadcast ever. I'm still stunned. I miss Tom (1&2)...

Yes, DBZ was part of Toonami when Moltar was running the show.

EDIT: Oh, and this is a sad day for me, indeed.

Well, I hear they're going to show the remaining 15 or so Naruto episodes they have; but CN hasn't decided yet if they even want to buy Shippuuden.
(Truthfully I don't care what happens to Shippuuden; that show lost its bite for me after the first arc finished up.)

They are planning to bring over that Powerpuff Girls Z anime series though.
On hiatus.

CN containues to air Pokémon and Bakugan.

Yes, it was a sad day. I even had to call Chad (Toon Zone's guy down at AWA) before I wrote our article (based on his Gaijin Side coverage) for confirmation. So many people flocked to Toon Zone we site went down.

This doesn't come as much as a suprise to me, since Miguzi(That piece of crap programming block that should never have been summoned from the depths of hades), Toonami has basically went down the tubes.

However, this is still a very sad thing to see. I can honestly say, like most of you, that if it weren't for Toonami, I would not be here now. It is with Toonami that I was first introduced to Dragonball, Tenchi Muyo, and various other anime.(Not Sailor Moon, I used to watch that on the USA channel early mornings in the 90s before Sonic the Hedgehog :D)

It's just a shame that childs programming in general has just not been near as good as it was lately. Most shows have watered-down or cliche' humor.

I'm also a little saddened that they may not air Shippuuden, considering that I've been waiting to see the dub of that for I don't know how long. It feels like we've waited out the fillers all this time for nothing. Also, when and if they do bring it back, how will it be treated? Will there still be original BGM and minimal editing? Will original theme songs be used?
At this past weekend’s Anime Weekend Atlanta convention, Cartoon Network representatives announced that the network is persuing broadcast rights to the 2006 Demashitaa! Powerpuff Girls Z anime television series, based on the American Powerpuff Girls cartoon. Cartoon Network representatives also admitted that the current broadcast of Code Geass “is not doing well at all.”
On a lighter note, this is probably the best thing to come out of this. I've been waiting to see a dub of this since I first learned of it. I mean, it was originally an American show, we deserve to have it, no matter how much it sucks. And trust me, it does. They have fingers and they're powers come from rings...oh, and did I mention they aren't even related in the series?(I want to know if they'll use the original theme song...we should send in letters)

All in all, I am very dissapointed and saddened by this. Toonami played such a big part in my anime fandom and what I watched as a child. Seeing this die off after so long really hits me. Its like, you never think about this kind of thing until it actually happens.

However, hopefully this will bring better programming opportunities for Cartoon Network.

If it makes you feel any better, YTV is going down the crapper, too. It's Bionix line-up, which used to be almost only shonen anime and older, is now nothing but a shortened, glorified VIZ block (Naruto, Blue Dragon, Zatch Bell, Bleach) that also now airs only on Saturdays. YUCK.

I was at Cartoon Network's AWA booth when they talked about Powerpuff and Shippouden. Powerpuff Girls Z got a "You're going to see it by sometime next year, maybe sooner" answer.

Shippouden got a very "We are SO releasing it, but don't know when"-style "no comment". You know, all sly and "Heheheheheh".

Just to go off topic for a second; theres a Powerpuff Girls Z now? And its an anime? I thought the Powerpuff Girls was an American show.

The last thing CN needs is less people watching it now. I blame the Naruto fillers.

I've already talked about this on other boards but this sucks. I stopped watching Toonami because it moved to Saturday and all of the things that I watched stopped airing. You'd think that CN would have at least tried to make Toonami be all than just new episodes of Naruto and try to air something else. Anything really.

Meh. CN has officially killed themselves now.
Be grateful the filler in Dragon Ball doesn't suck like the 3rd arc of Rurouni Kenshin.

I blame Naruto period...I have no justification in doing so I just really dislike that show.

Anyway I was never a huge Toonami fan, I was never home early enough to really watch it from the beginning and Sailor Moon and Dragonball Z were the only shows I was ever interested in when it came to their line-up.

(and as much as I hate to admit it, for some odd reason I was an avid Hamtaro viewer)

It will be missed though, I loved Tom despite me being a very casual watcher of Toonami.

I'm truly saddened. I used to get home from school and watch Toonami, but now it's gone. What's this world coming to? Next thing you now, ER will only have one season left and there'll be a new Dragonball special? I don't expect any of those things to happen.

Toonami was what got me into DBZ in the first place. So I'm very sad by the news, and the final broadcast message, even though I was expecting it, actually teared me up a bit.

THEY WERE MANLY TEARS I TELL YOU!
I think I'll be buying assorted Dragon Ball things for the rest of my life.
