The whole point of any cartoon is to see how it happens, not guess at what happens. Take the Space Nessy level, for example. That's not essential to the plot, so we don't see it in the OVA, despite how it got animated. Hell, the Hachiyakku transformation scene doesn't take place in the fight to destroy him!Chibi Mystic Gohan wrote:The plot's not exactly rocket science...

What's so hard to understand? I've watched the thing, and I was never scratching my head, wondering what the hell was going on. They find out that they have to destroy those Destron Gas machines, the final one has Ghost Warriors (Freeza, Tullece, Coola and Slug), they beat them, they hear from Kaiô that they have to go to some planet and defeat Raichi to save the Earth, they have spaceship adventures, they fight Raichi and Hatchihyakku, happy ending.
Yeah, seriously... Some of you guys make it seem like the series is complicated as hell, which in reality it isn't.Chibi Mystic Gohan wrote:What's so hard to understand? It's an Anime directed at children. How complicated can it get? Analyzing this stuff more than you should, which is not bad, but pointless at some times...
Exactly. I just watched it last night, and even though it was kind of short (an hour isn't that long, though it's long enough), I enjoyed what I saw. I even didn't mind the music, which, although different, was catchy in its own way. Twinbee sent me the soundtrack, so now I have that to listen to.Chibi Mystic Gohan wrote:What's so hard to understand? But yeah, I wouldn't say it was the best Dragonball-related plot I've ever seen, but it was pretty solid. Cool stuff.

I think one of the Broly movies was a tiny bit longer (like an hour and 15 minutes or so, I think), but yeah, I see your point. I guess I'm just being a pedant. =PChibi Mystic Gohan wrote:That's longer than any of the Dragon Ball Z movies I can think of, anyway.Tweaker wrote:and even though it was kind of short (an hour isn't that long, though it's long enough)
My point exactly. The OVA only animates 60-70% of the story. No cartoon will ever only show chunks of the cartoon, it'll show all of it. It's too jarring for kids, and defeats the purpose of making a cartoon.SSJToreto wrote:Yeah, seriously... WHAT are these spaceship adventures? These are more like deleted scenes and "never animated" scenes. HOW do they fight Raichi and Hatchiyakku? We're being told the story, so we should be shown what's going on. Look at the Hatchiyaku thread: people are only now discovering the Space Nessie animation and that Hatchiyakku transforms. Why? Because they're not in the movie.
Or the new Jump special. We have the character designs and summaries. Do we need the anime now? By your logic, no. It's a cartoon, I want to watch it.

Uh, aren't all of those other scenes alternate paths or whatever? But regardless, the movie makes sense without them.Dayspring wrote:My point exactly. The OVA only animates 60-70% of the story.
Well, I remember them showing some of the outer space scenes. But do the other scenes matter? It's like when they travel to planet Namek (in the manga). We see them talk in the ship once, and they're pretty much landing on Namek right after. Who cares how they got there?Dayspring wrote:WHAT are these spaceship adventures?

1) It isn't shown how they survive the destruction of their ship, how they make it to planet Dark, and what the hell is going on with the guy they're randomly fighting prior to Raichi.Chibi Mystic Gohan wrote:Uh, aren't all of those other scenes alternate paths or whatever? 2) See 1.
3) We don't see all of it because those are alternate endings. Granted a bit of choppy editing can string the first two to make it look like one ending, but we still don't get the transformation ending.
