Probably the worst drawing in the Dragon Ball series ever...

Yep, I recall really bad art being shown during one of the Goku vs Majin Vegeta episodes where Goku and Vegeta had giant, long legs and just look ridiculous while fighting, they really didn't look like themselves at all. Then the following episode after that showed amazing art that's almost as good quality as the last batch of movie's work(example being the bodies having right proportions and having golden hair flashing the whole time instead of plain old blond).jaywonder wrote:One thing that was pretty regular during the Cell and Buu arcs was one episode would be drawn with a lot of detail then the next episode, not nearly as much detail, then again detail.....it was a pattern
The irony of that situation is that most of the Goku vs Majin Vegeta actual fighting shown in the anime was filler(considering in the manga they kept cutting out between Gohan and Supreme Kai's situation with Buu and then back to the fight of Goku and Vegeta being already completely battle damaged) and the filler parts were the scenes that had good art and the canon parts of the fight near the beginning(when Goku and Vegeta are kneeing each other and such) are where the ugly long-legged designs were shown.
Here's some screen caps(they're kind of bad examples but after seeing them, you can picture the rest what they would look like):
Episode 230 with the ugly long legs and lacking movie-style SSJ effects:

Episode 231 with proper proportions(although hard to notice and Vegeta's face looks a bit funny there

I hated at the end of GT, when Goku was walking away with Dan Dan playing, his chin was so fucking huge.

It's not so much long legs, just... screwed up. Vegeta's Thigh is indeed long there but the lower half of that leg is retardedly small, plus Goku crotch is messed up, and his thigh looks like he's had muscle removed from it.Captain-Sora wrote:Episode 230 with the ugly long legs and lacking movie-style SSJ effects:

Not to mention that top part of his leg is all wobbly and doesn't exactly connect to the knee properly. The Time Traveller wrote:I hated at the end of GT, when Goku was walking away with Dan Dan playing, his chin was so fucking huge.

Holy shit, I am so glad that Kunzait brought up how awful Episode 156 was. I was going to bring it up eventually, but he beat me to it. Seriously, the animation and pacing were so horrible that I just outright skipped the rest of the episode. Hell, there was one part where they spent a minute showing Cell firing slow-paced punches that Vegeta was dodging. And when I say slow, I mean slow.
What's sad is that the pale cartoony type was actually decent in the Namek saga.

Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Re: Probley the worst drawing in the DragonBall series ever.
I think the problem was that they needed to work fast every 2 a 3 episodes. Ore they didnt have the money, anyway this must be 2 frame split second Shot , never seen itt like this.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:If you're a DragonBall fan you've seen some pretty badly drawn episodes every now and then. Last night I was watching season six and this shot of the Z warriors came on that was unbelievably bad. It was so bad I had to rewind it to make sure I saw what I saw. So I give you: The worst drawn shot in all of the DragonBall series. Nothing can top this...

Some of these were passable in motion, I've noticed, but reallllly fail when placed under frame by frame scrutiny.
And I have to say my two least favorite scenes, animation-wise, are this one part when Goku is fighting Freeza, and Freeza's ultimate death by Trunks. The first one... god, does anyone have a cap of that? I remember specifically Goku looming overhead to chop Freeza. His body is just... wrong. Very wrong.
The Trunks/Freeza scene suffered from DVD releases. When I watched it on TV, the "awesome animation" closing scene and "sucky animation" opening scene didn't stand out as much. But when the episodes are playing in marathon... damn.

To show my appreciation, I'll only beat them half to death.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

Yeah, the "pale cartoony type" is almost acceptable during the saiyan saga area. I don't think I even noticed it until the Cell Saga, but now I can pick it out if I watch the old episodes. I really do think it has something to do with the fact that Toriyama's style changed so much, and they pretty much didn't bother to change what they were doing.
animation
Somtimes the drawings are to sharp pointy and ugly after 2 episodes
And some episode have almost movie animation
But Its a waste, that a good anime with good fighting scenes,
And story have to suffer from bad animation episodes.
