Questions you would ask Toriyama

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Questions you would ask Toriyama

Post by goodguy777 » Fri Oct 03, 2008 6:25 am

What are the questions that you want to ask to Mr. Toriyama?
It's a gag manga! It never was nor was it meant to be scientifically sound or accurate.

The only questions I can think of are the ones that buzz around here. Was _____ SSJ or SSJ2 during _____? Do the Jinzo'ningen age? Maybe his personal thoughts on ki and what sorts of rules it follows in the Dragon Universe.

The story itself is pretty straight forward, so it would have to be little curiosities like that.

"Can we borrow your hat? A few people said they'd eat it when the DB Live action movie was made..."
^_^.

... I'm trying to come up with something vaguely more serious, and... not succeeding all that well. Though people harp on me for not asking a bunch of questions at college interviews... *shrug*[/quote]

I would like to know how he feels that there is still Dragonball mania after all these years and what his favourite character is. Actually, now I think about it, there is just too many. :D

I've heard that Piccolo is his favorite, but I'm not sure where that information came from or how reliable it is.

"Do you remember this fellow named Goku you made awhile ago?"
Aro started to laugh. “Ha, ha, ha,” he chuckled.- Actual quote from Twilight

I would like to know at what point he wanted to end the series.

Why do suspect the answer will be something like "At the end of the Pilaf arc!"?

I would ask him why he didn't want to do any new art for Chrono Trigger. At least a new front cover. It would have been cool if they could have gotten all of The Dream Team together again. Then I would ask him if he could draw me a picture of Crono. Dragon Ball related? Um. I guess I would ask him to draw a picture of Piccolo fighting Vegeta. Then I'd hold my breath.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

Has it been said that he won't be doing cover art or anything for Chrono Trigger DS?

Man they're using the same cover art from the SNES version. I mean that's kinda cool but I was hoping to see something new from Toriyama. I really like his art style and it has changed a lot since those days back in 1995 when he just finished Dragn Ball. I wanted to see an updated Crono... :?

Oh, it seems you're right. Well, I've always been fond of that piece, so I don't mind. But perhaps a totally redrawn version of the cover (a la the Kanzenban version of chapter 5 of Dragon Ball) would look really neat.

Or "Chrono," as I'm hoping they'll call him. The name "Crono" was only due to the limitations of the SNES... but I digress. ^.^

That would be really cool, I love AT's current shading style and such and it would be awesome to see it in Chrono Trigger art.

"Chrono". :P But the Greek fits into the character space.

Oh, I get it. Very funny! :P

But, looking at the official website, it looks like they stuck with Crono. A shame, really. I mean, クロノ (Kurono? Is this Gantz?) is used both in the title, and the character's name, so logically, they should both be spelled the same in English. In fact, looking at the character sketches, it seems the official name in Japan is indeed Chrono.

But again, I digress. ^.^

I thought he was planning to end it after Frieza.

hm....What made you think of writing Dragonball?
Son-Goku, how did you create his character?
Gohan: "You're a Buddhist." Kuririn: "A hungry Buddhist!"

I would ask him why he dosen't like Vegeta. He's my favorite character. How can you not like him Akira, you drew him so well.
