For the time being, it seems safe to assume it will.

I do wish I could get the Japanese in something better than Mono at least once. That would be nice.

Not even the Dragon Box versions come in an audio better than mono. :(

Woulda been nice if they applied whatever it was they did with the Dragon Box Movies set to all three series'. Hell, would be nice if FUNi did the same.

Well, the opening/endings are in stereo, so at least that's a small step in the right direction. Plus, the TV special was mixed in stereo, so whenever FUNi gets around to re-releasing that, it should make for a pleasant viewing. Let's hope that since it's GT, it won't be cropped. And let's hope that since it's a TV special, the opening and eyecatchers will be restored like the Z specials were.

So there it is. FUNi finally did something right.
Well that's awesome.

It seems like everything is repeating again. DBZ is released first with many flaws and issues (first time around it was lisencing, censoring, Cell Games taking forever to be released, now it's the widescreen and horrible remastering issue), then GT and DB are released with little to no flaws (forget about the first 11 episodes of DB and the whole Lost Episodes fiasco)! I mean, the first time around, GT and DB were released consistantly with affordable box-sets/2-disc sets, now it looks like we'll be getting fullscreen season sets of them! Good stuff.

The only problem is that I could see FUNimation re-releasing the DBZ sets in fullscreen eventually :?

The problem is that lots of people have already purchased them in Widescreen, me included.

Not to ignite the fires of hell, but that's because a lot of people couldn't find their balls and express a dissenting opinion. No offense.

But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

To be fair though, surely the decision to crop the sets had been made long before the first trailers were released. Although you may disagree the hardcore fan base would only comprise a small percentage of overall sales. So even if every member of this forum had complained I doubt that it would have changed Funimations thinking, in my opinion anyway.

GT sets look promising though, fingers crossed it'll be 4:3.

Knowing Funi, they'll make 4:3 Dragonbox DBZ season sets. In which I will be mad, but purchase anyway.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I'll wait for a review so I can be sure they are 4:3.

Isn't the chance of Toei giving FUNi Dragon Box masters pretty much a million to one?

The chances are higher than you'd think; the problem is, will FUNi buy them? No.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Oh I know, trust me. I just hate that people have the audacity to say they don't want a better version to ever be released simply because they decided to buy the show in a flawed, badly marketed/justified form.

"Giving" as in "Happy Birthday Gen, have some DragonBox masters"? I'd say it's closer to a trillion to one. "Giving" as in "Gen, we're willing to license these for $X"? I can say the chance is almost a certainty.

Yeah, that'd just be stupid. I'm collecting the Season Sets for now, since I can deal with the flaws for the sake of watching through the entire series for a good price. But if FUNi ends up coming out with something better down the line, I wouldn't hesitate for a second to sell and replace these with them like I've been doing with the few singles I had.

Lord forbid FUNimation try to move on and spend their money on something else...like One Piece.

Who knows, if TOEI likes how OP is doing maybe they'll throw FUNimation a bone.
