I hate Dragon Ball >:(

Post by disturbed001 » Mon Oct 06, 2008 12:21 pm

Why is it that I want to (and have) spend all of my money on everything Dragon Ball?

I have about every english dvd release, but I still want the Dragon Boxes.

I want all the English and Japanese manga, even both tankobon and Kanzenban.

I hate this stupid series that takes all my money away :(

Someone just buy the damned Dragon Ball Box off Amazon Japan already so I'm not tempted to!

I love Dragon Ball.

Kind of, yeah. Its to talk about your views on spending money on the franchise, pretty much.

Haha! I know what you mean. DB stuff can cost a lot! I'm trying to hunt down the actuall dragon boxes even though I own almost all of the Z R2 singles. (I want the extras badly lol)

Actually selling my 33 Dragon Box R2 dvd's on ebay right now. If anyone want's to see the auction PM me.

It was a necessity for me to buy all the manga and the newly released seasons/movies *end sarcasm* but basically I've also dropped a lot of money too

I'm like addicted to dbz.

I have every single american relases of the dvds, includes all the versions of the first few movies and the orange season bricks and the UUE ones as well. On top of that all the uncut VHS minus the cell saga.

I dont think its fair that Japan got those R2 singles with the fancy new artwork AND they got the dragonboxes for all 3 series.

I knew you would comment on this lol. I think you and I are on the same page, I'm kinda leaning towards trying to snag the Boxes instead of the Singles. Someone mentioned Rinkya being better than Celga for the Yahoo auctions stuff, plus the Amazon Japan has the Dragon Ball Box in stock for $840! Craziness.

Yeah, well they paid a lot for their only DVD release of the series... but come to think of it, if FUNi released Dragon Boxes in the first place for 1000$ a box, it would be still cheaper than buying all of FUNi's non-consistent releases of the series, no?

I have spent thousands (most likely) of dollars on Dragonball stuff, and I plan on spending a lot more. It's a healthy obsession, at least I am not wasting my money on drugs like almost everyone else I know.

Celga has the option to mark the item as gift so you won't need to pay import duties. How is Rinkya better btw?

Before you decide to buy a dragon box make sure you read the description, because some pictures look good, while the actuall DVD's might be scratched etc...

It looks like Rinkya has much lower fees for their services. But that's just at first glance.

This auction?: http://cgi.ebay.com/Dragon-Ball-Z-Drago ... 286.c0.m14

I don't think anybody will pay that much for those DVDs. You would do better to sell them by DVD. I actually want DVDs #7 to #13 due to Funi Season 2 being a disgrace.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I've spent....

$24 on VizBigs, $16 on the Viz Daizenshuu, and $20 on the Season One set.

So that's $60.

Plus money for a couple DBZ games. These were mostly bought used and much later than their original release for about $15. I'd say total that's another $60. That'll probably become $90 the SECOND that Dragonball DS comes out, since it's the first game to actually get me EXCITED. Its style is just so endearing.

I'd say I spent about 1,000 yen on Dragonball stuff in Tokyo. Basically: Gashopon.

Hm.

I think that's it. I got most of my subtitled tapes free as gifts, with at most $50 spent total on the rest. I think that's probably stretching it, too.

1000$ as a starting bid for all the singles from the first box? Yeah, that's way too much. Why would anyone spend 1000+ on this when they can get a Dragonbox for less?

Oh yeah, and 2 of the 4 games I'm getting in the X-mas season are DB games (DBZ Inifint World, DB Orgins; the others being Gears 2 (FUCK YEAH) and LOTR Conquest (Jan. counts in my book  ))

The FUNI DBZ singles raped my cash. The sad part is I never even got to finish purchasing all of them, although I am tempted to purchase the rest (Frieza singles, Cell Games singles, Buu saga, Fusion Saga, Kid Buu saga ) Ugh. I've also purchased the movies (screw the double feature sets..) and I've been picking up the season sets as they're released. Somewhere down the road I'll probably be picking up the Dragonbox R2 singles as well, which will once again buttfuck my wallet 8) . I purchased volumes 1 - 42 of the first print releases of the english tankoubon, and I'm now aiming to collect the entire Kanzenban set.

The most embarassing Dragonball related merchandise that I've purchased is probably throwing away about $600 + on the American DBZ TCG. The goofiest part about it is that I didn't even have anybody to play the damn game with. *smacks forehead.

In terms of purchasing Dragonball/Z/GT figures, I've only ever aimed for the REALWORKS figures. Love em' to death for some odd reason.

All in all, I've probably thrown away 2 grand or more for the sake of quenching the DB thirst I have. I guess it could be worse?

Show me where you can buy 33 R2 singles for under a 1000$...

R2 retail price 3900 yen x 33= 128700yen

My auction 3000 yen per disc=99000yen

If that's not cheap, then I don't know what is... Considering most of the DVD's are still in shrinkwrap.
