Was a downfall to SSj4 ever mentioned/named?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

I.E. filler.

There's nothing wrong with perferring the anime timeline, everyone just thinks that you don't realize that the manga is the story that the author wanted to tell and that everything else are just ideas based off of his story (movies, GT) or were merely created in order to give the author time when creating the next chapter (filler).

But, you do make a point with the "subjectivity" of Toriyama's views because you lack evidence of it.
Thank you, I understand the ins and outs of filler but I stand behind my previous statements and this is the last I have to say on the topic of anime versus manga. Any future comments in this thread will be directed towards the original subject matter that was interesting to begin with.

Toriyama had written himself into a corner, he had to go somewhere and a Super Saiya-jin "bargain sale" was the direction he went, that doesn't discount the fact that Goku was the first Super Saiya-jin to appear in a thousand years.
Not to mention that he originally planned on ending the series after Goku becoming the Super Saiyajin thus making it more climatic and giving the story's hero the title of the "Legendary Super Saiyajin".

Just had to say that...

Not to rain on your parade, but you aren't a moderator and you didn't even start this thread.

I don't understand how if EX went on record to say "The Anime sucks, follow the Manga" that would be official enough for you, sure he may have contributed a lot to Dragonball fandom, but at the end of the day he's just a fan, who's opinion is no more important or "official" than anyone else here.

Back On Topic:

When did I say that I started the thread or a moderator I only speak for myself all I said that I was just going to contribute to the original subject matter that the author of the thread started? Are you actually reading what I posted or instead are you reading a few words and then posting something.

Out of universe-wise?

Some say it was an attempt by Toei to clear up the "legendary SSj" issues alluded to in the canon tangent in this thread. The theory being that SSj4 is supposed to be the "real" legendary Super Saiyan that comes once a millennia and that all other forms were the warm-up act, so to speak. I've never seen a source on this and seeing as Toei have never shown any inclination to try and hammer out plot problems before, I don't see why they would have done it then.

The only other reason readily available is that the writers after dowing a lot of Mountain Dew felt that Goku (and Vegeta, I guess, as an afterthought) needed an awesome new form to kick ass with. Much like the more inept fan-fic writers will write a story about SSj5 Goku fusing with Gohan to form SSj6 Hanku to fight the Potarra fusion of Cell and Freeza (Creeza would be the obvious name, so let's call him Frell).

I assure you I read it, the lack of a personal pronoun confused me, I apologize.

Sounds right to me. But I do like the idea of SSJ4 being a refined version of the Golden Oozaru, mixing the power of both the SSJ line and Oozaru.

Someone posted a link in one of the other threads to a translated version of one of the Perfect Files data books, it has a question, and answer portion that pretty much agrees with your comments.

Just for the record I do not have anything against anyone here I have learned a lot from every member of this forum over the years before I officially joined. I just do not understand the nature of the “Canon Wars”, at least when people argue over religion they have source documents that the original authors has clearly stated go by this and nothing else whereas Toriyama has not (as far as I can tell).

Please tell me thats a Farscape reference in disguise.

As for Super Saiya-jin 4, I think it was created just because they think they needed a shiny new transformation, the throw back to the primal Oozaru stuff I think was just to justify it a little better than "I trained heaps!"

Actually, for years on the internet there were so-called official episode summaries for Dragonball AF. That had all kinds of ridiculous things that I believe the writers at Toei could not have thought of while tripping on acid and downing a whole bottle of Bacardi 151.

Off topic: Farscape was a good show by the way I hated that it was cancelled.
